TheBloemfontein police’s investigation into thehomeinvasion in Langenhovenparkbytwo armed suspects,aswellasthe theftofa vehicle,has ledtothe arrestof onesuspectand therecoveryofa HyundaiGetzwithin twodays.
SgtMahlomolaKareli, spokesperson for theFreeState police, said members of amulti-disciplinary team under OperationShanelaII confirmed the arrest of a39-year-old suspectshortlyafter theincidenton Friday 17 July
He said thearrestedsuspect and hiswantedaccompliceambushed a53-year-old manand hisbrother upon arrivalattheir residence in Langenhovenpark at approximately 19:00.
“After they openedthe residential gateand droveinside,theywereallegedlyambushedbythe twoarmed andmaskedsuspects while walking toward the house,”saidKareli.
“Thesuspects heldthe brothers at gunpoint, demandingmoney and cellphones
“After robbing the victims of their personal belongings,the suspects demandedthe keys to the complainant’s vehicle –a Hyundai Getz, whichtheyusedto flee the scene. ”

“Heoperatedpredominantlyinsuburbs includingBrandwag, Universitas and Westdene, targetinguniversity students residinginstudent accommodation andcommunes.
“Hetypicallytargetedhigh-value electronics such as laptopsand cellphones and, in some instances,stole his victims’clothing,”Kareli said.
He said theprobe establishedthatCollins had already been incarcerated at the Grootvlei Pris-
