Celebrating Together Join us Notre Dame Sisters (NDS) and our dedicated staff members in celebrating this year of success which happened on many levels. As I reflect, I realize that TOGETHER, we have accomplished many of our goals. You have been there beside us, helping us reach these goals through your donations, hours of volunteering, your advice, and especially your presence. Today’s world is in need of community, in need of belonging, communal discernment, and decision making. Through many efforts, with dedicated people working TOGETHER, we have modeled the importance of dialogue, weighing all options, and seeking advice to create decisions for the common good. What we have accomplished TOGETHER will now pour into the lives of those we serve—the homeless, trafficked, ill, immigrant, lonely, and so many more. YOU are serving in all the ministries of the Notre Dame Sisters because of your support. TOGETHER we will continue to make a difference, and thus create a world community of belonging. Government Officials continue to recognize the importance of the Coalition, especially NE Attorney General Doug Peterson. This past year the Coalition participated in press conferences with Omaha’s Mayor Jean Stothert, Lincoln’s Mayor Chris Beutler and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.

Sisters’ Ministries Our Sisters continue to be involved in several ministries around the United States. We are educators, activists, nurses, spiritual leaders, case workers who are “retired” but remain active in various activities and organizations.
We are proud to acknowledge the following Sisters:

Assisted seniors with over 10,000 services such as dental checks, on-site health checks, grief counseling, and much more

Safe Homes The Notre Dame Sisters are committed to assisting women and children leaving domestic abuse situations. After receiving help, education and counseling in a shelter a woman is ready to move into transitional housing. However, there are few agencies to help with the transitional housing need. This is where the Notre Dame Safe Homes comes in, providing the first month funding for rent, rent deposit, or utilities. Housing is the KEY in regaining and reintegrating into a stable life. The Safe Homes Ministry distributed over $27,000 to women and children this past fiscal year. The other project under Safe Homes is Keeping on with Safe Homes, encouragement for women during their first year to become successful renters. This liaison role provides regular contact with the recipient to ensure timely rental payments and to help connect with additional community services.

On January 23rd we said goodbye to our beloved Sr. Barbara Ficenec. Described as an “angel or a saint” she will be greatly missed. Human Trafficking Month • January 10th, the Coalition on Human Trafficking held a Friendraiser in Omaha, NE. • This event was SOLD OUT • Anna Brewer, former FBI investigator, currently in the State’s Attorney General’s Office, was the guest speaker.

• Nancy Bohnenkamp, Florence business owner, awarded the Mother Qualberta Service Award • Over $80,000 raised • 300 friends, family, and supporters attended the event at St. Robert Bellarmine’s Mainelli Parish Center
• April 15th we celebrated our annual Pork dinner at St. Philip Neri’s. The Mary Our Queen Knights of Columbus spent hours preparing a delicious dinner • Over 750 meals were served, up 25% from last year • Proceeds increased 13%
• 2nd Annual Senior Health and Resource Expo • Over 100 attendees along with partner Methodist Hospital and various vendors • Topics range from health, nutrition, educators, legal advice, and much more

• 100 Alumnae gathered at St. John Vianney Parish Center, on June 9th to celebrate their class anniversaries • Class of 1968 celebrated their 50th reunion and were awarded The Spirit Award • A generous donation from the Class of 1968 was presented to the Notre Dame Sisters for their retirement • Sr. Karen Rolenc, Sr. Rita Ostry, Sr. Veronica Jo Posekany, and Sr. Christine Elias celebrated their Jubilees on June 10th

2018 at a Glance This year we were blessed to reach $1.72M between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018 in income. It is truly a team effort which drives us to be able to reach this level of giving. Income comes from a variety of sources including salaries from Sisters who are employed, Social Security and retirement benefits from Sisters who are retired, charitable contributions from donors, and earnings on our savings. The general operating income is down from last year’s income of $1.875M. The Sisters’ salaries, ministries (NDH, Safe Homes, Human Trafficking), and legacy portions of our income saw sharp decreases which were partially offset by increases in donations, retirement benefits, and interest on savings. We are proud that we support our ministries such as the Coalition on Human Trafficking, Safe Homes, Notre Dame Housing, and the Sisters’ Individual Ministries with 36% of our
