Gala Performance
One of our longest-running members brought a friend to the studio to record their first song together. After the first session, we had some time left and 15-year-old Dominic wanted to try recording a song he wrote about his ex over a beat from another one of our members, Ronald Vue. This was his first time recording in a booth and he killed it. We recorded the whole song plus vocal doubles in less than an hour. The song is called “Stuck” and you can check it out at the link above!
The Boys & Girls Club’s annual For The Kids! Fundraiser took place on April 22nd at the Depot in Downtown Minneapolis. We had the honor of performing with the talented Ashley DuBose, who grew up coming to the West Side Club. We spent weeks rehearsing the vocal arrangement and harmonies for her track “Be You.” 16-year-old Makenna, 18-year-old Elsie, and studio alumni Ameer killed the performance. Recording the Choir
Singing Sisters
Songwriting Sessions
After a successful field trip for a music video shoot last month at the Minneapolis Orchestra Hall, our choir group got back together with the directors of the video to record the official audio to accompany the video set to a song by the local group Cloud Cult. The video was made in partnership with Gillette’s Children’s Hospital and will be released very soon.
After being away from the studio for almost 2 years, sisters Anika and Arianna made their return this month and have come a long way from singing karaoke 5 years ago. Anika is 16 now and has been crushing it behind the mic. We’ve started recording some popular covers and she hopes to begin writing her own original songs this year!
9-year-old Kyliyah loves singing and writing new songs. We’ve spent a lot of time recording and playing with autotune, but she’s taken the next step and started focusing on writing original lyrics! This is a picture from our last session where Kyliyah kept coming up with new ideas will in the recording booth. We’re very excited to finish her first original song this next month.
