BOOKER T. WASHINGTON HS (BGC) x N4N (MEMPHIS): Memphis Youth Break The Ice And Speak Out Via Podcasting
In an inspiring fusion of creativity and mentorship, N4N (Memphis) recently partnered with Job Corps to bring a fully immersive musical experience directly to students. During a visit to the center’s Creative Expression group hour, N4N introduced its mission, connected with youth through open conversation, and set up a mobile recording studio inside the classroom. Students were given the unique opportunity to collaborate on beat-making, explore music production tools, and even step up to the mic to record their own vocals. The session not only showcased the power of music as a creative outlet, but also encouraged youth to express themselves, learn new skills, and engage with industry-standard equipment—right in their own space. The collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to empowering young people through hands-on learning and creative exploration, leaving participants energized, inspired, and eager for more opportunities to create.
N4N (Memphis) continued its mission of amplifying young voices with an energetic and interactive visit to the Boys & Girls Club at Booker T. Washington in Memphis. The session kicked off with lively introductions—delivered podcast-style—that instantly broke the ice and set the tone for an open, creative, and judgment-free environment. With microphones in hand, youth were encouraged to express themselves freely, share stories, ask questions, and simply be “youth out loud” for lack of better words. The podcasting format created a safe space for conversation, laughter, curiosity, and honest dialogue, allowing participants to connect with one another in a fresh and empowering way. By blending mentorship with modern media tools, Notes for Notes (Memphis) provided a platform for authenticity and creativity, showing young people that their voices matter—and deserve to be heard.
