LESSONS FOR THE LITTLES
CADET KARAOKE
When I say “littles,” I mean the cadets, which is the youngest age group (5-7) occupying the Boys & Girls Club. The cadets don’t get as much weekly time in the studio as other groups do, so each session truly has to count for them. In this clip is Amir, who was playing the drums for the first time after simply learning how to count 4-beats/bar. The natural talent is clear as day & he’s been looking forward to weekly drum lessons ever since.
After we were finished with our drum lessons, Amir and the other two cadets in the session wanted to jam out before they had to leave, with a 3-part band karaoke performance of “this is what heartbreak feels like” by JVKE. This was super cool to watch and a great way for me to continue to gauge the interests of our cadets.
