Each day at the Lion Leadership Camp we started by playing African djembes and djun djuns. We were able to take turns listening with call and response warm ups, and learn traditional patterns like Kuku, Fanga, and Moribayassa. We then ended each session with recording our own original patterns, which taught us the power of diversity in different roles and voices.
Joi, Amos, Janiyah, and Cameron got to explore finding their voice through podcasting and interviewing each other to get to know each other for the first time. They learned about their shared interests and unique differences. They enjoyed hearing their voices amplified through headphones, helping them hear and be heard. Stay tuned to our SoundCloud to hear it!
