SOFIA TAKES THE STAGE Sofia was a familiar face at the Club last year, but this year brought a busy schedule filled with extracurricular activities, including theater. At the end of the summer, it was a pleasure to be invited to see her perform in Once Upon a Time, where she took on the role of the Evil Stepmother. Sofia did an incredible job singing and performing on stage, and it was wonderful to see her confidence and creativity shine in a new setting.
SANTA BARBARA BOWL VISITS STUDIO Following our studio refresh, we were honored to welcome members of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation’s Board of Directors for a visit to see our space and learn more about our program. Youth leaders Raphael and Joshua joined us to share their experiences in the studio and the impact the program has had on their lives. Hearing them begin their stories with “when I first came into the studio” was a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact a safe, creative space can have on a young person.

DAISY’S SONG GETS A PART TWO Daisy and Ema were among the first youth back in the studio after the start of the school year, jumping right into work on a follow-up to Daisy’s previously released Daisy’s Song. The new song will again feature Daisy on ukulele and vocals, but this time she wants to expand the arrangement with instruments like recorder and triangle. It’s exciting to watch young artists build on their previous work and discover new ways to create.
JESUS RETURNS TO GUITAR Jesus has been putting in the work on guitar, with noticeable improvements in his form, technique, and overall fluency on the instrument. He’s also becoming quicker at reading music and picking up new material, including learning the intro to Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done” so we could jump into a jam together. His progress is a great example of what can happen when young people dedicate themselves to practice and continue challenging themselves.
MAYA FINDS HER VOICE It was great to welcome Maya back into the studio, where she jumped into piano, guitar, and vocal lessons. A fan of alternative music, Maya has also been developing her creativity through album artwork and concert photography for local bands. This time, she brought that creative energy into the vocal booth, building the confidence to try heavier vocals and record covers in the studio. Giving youth room to experiment can open doors to creative interests they may not have explored before.
