GET THE MONEY - LONDON X DEREK Two of our youth artists came together to collaborate on a fresh, energetic track about working hard, chasing your goals, and making money! The song brings their unique styles together for a fun and motivating record. This track was also produced by Derek, adding another layer of creativity to this exciting collaboration.

SHADDSTACKZ TYPE BEAT - K2 Our youth producer K2 is one of the hardest-working and most consistent producers at Mar Vista. Always creating and experimenting in the studio, K2 continues to develop his own sound and style. One of his favorite rappers is Shaddstackzz, so for this beat, K2 took inspiration from his music and created a track with him in mind.

DRUM LESSONS A lot of our youth have been gravitating toward the drum set and drum machine this month. We’ve been spending time getting familiar with both, exploring different rhythms, sounds, and ways to create beats. It’s been exciting to see their curiosity grow as they experiment and develop their skills as young musicians and producers.
SONG WRITING SESSIONS One of our members, Kira, has been working on a song of her own about making art and spending time at the park. Here’s a special moment from her creative process as she wrote down her lyrics and prepared to bring the song to life in the studio. It’s exciting to see Kira developing her ideas and expressing herself through music!

MAKING BEATS! Something that has been a big focus this month is making beats! A lot of our youth have been coming in eager to express themselves through music production, experimenting with different sounds and creating beats across a wide range of genres, including R&B, hip-hop, pop, and rock & roll. It’s been exciting to see them explore their creativity, develop their own sounds, and discover new ways to express themselves through music.
SELF EXPRESSION Another thing we’ve been focusing on this month is helping our youth feel comfortable expressing themselves and finding healthy, creative ways to channel their emotions through music. We’ve had several moments where members came in having a difficult day, and we were able to help them refocus that energy into something positive and creative. Whether through making beats, writing lyrics, or simply experimenting with sounds, music has been a powerful outlet for our youth to express themselves and turn challenging moments into opportunities for creativity.
NEW SONG FROM THIAGO ON THE WAY! Thiago has been working hard on his new song, “All A’s,” and it’s coming out soon! He’s been putting in the work to bring this track to life, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Be on the lookout for “All A’s” dropping soon!
