RUN TO YOU - KYLE Kyle came to the studio with a Lana Del Ray song he wanted to sample, as well as a reference track for how he wanted the drums to sound. We did some critical listening and tried to come up with our own drum pattern and arrangement that was reminiscent of the reference track
LATE NIGHT - MYRICK This beat was produced by our guest artist Choker! He was very impressed by all of the youth, and Myrick was feeling inspired and wanted to write a hook about hanging out with his girlfriend. Choker really liked what Myrick came up with, and wrote another hook playing off of what Myrick was talking about.

FUNERAL LULLABY - ALEXA Alexa is a very talented writer and has pages upon pages of lyrics she has written for songs, but can be a little shy when it comes to recording. This was her first time recording a song from start to finish, and she is looking to eventually record enough songs to make an album!

CHOKER COMES TO VISIT We had the pleasure of Detroit born and LA based artist Choker coming in to the studio this month! The youth were very excited to have a new face in the studio and were impressed by his songs and how fast he was able to make a beat for them during the session. Choker also loved being in the studio with the youth and was impressed by how well the youth were able to freestyle! We hope to have him stop by the studio again the next time he’s in Detroit!
TWO CHORD JAMMING With the younger youth, we have started to do some improvisation exercises with certain limitations. We pick two chords within the scale of C major and youth learn to play each chord and switch them at the same time. Then we will have a youth who isn’t playing the chords take a solo using all of the white keys on the piano. The youth have surprised themselves with how good they sound, and are learning how to listen to each other, different dynamic levels, and how to stay in time
