It takes a year of love (and hard work!) to get the perfect bottle of wine ready for Christmas. Local winemakers Colin and Charlotte Bennett reflect on the last 12 months…
As we come into autumn, we reflect on a wonderful year 2025 has been. The harvest is complete, and we look forward to tasting the wines from an exceptional vintage.
From pruning in lovely spring weather, to a calm early summer, creating perfect conditions for flowering, followed by one of the best summers on record.
A wine makers number one saying is “great wine is made in the vineyard, not in the winery”. Wine is made through a natural process, so it’s all about the quality of the fruit. We are perfectly sited for cultivating grapes. The vines are planted on well drained, shale slate, which also adds to the unique ‘terroir’ and gives our wines their distinct characteristics.
Combine this with a scientifically proven microclimate known as the foehn effect, giving mild winters and less rainfall than surrounding areas. All this comes together to allow us a longer ripening season and to successfully grow traditional varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Our signature wines come from cool climate varieties including Solaris and Rondo, which make wonderful white, red, rosé and sparkling wines.
Earlier in the year we celebrated Welsh Wine Week, with top class food and wine pairings with our friends at Paysanne, Deganwy and Jackdaw in Conwy, and Y Marram on Anglesey, showcasing the best of local Welsh produce, paired with our wines.
We also hosted a cheese and wine pairing at Vinomondo in Conwy and invited Dylans development chef to rustle up
Our barbecues have gone down a storm this year and we are pleased to have hosted them all outdoors! From ten-hour cooked pulled pork, to locally caught seabass, tantalising the tastebuds of our guests, whilst enjoying a glass of wine or two with the view of the Snowdonia mountains. The perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Our vineyard tours are still in full flow with limited availability to the end of November. There is nothing pleases us more, than seeing the smiling faces of our guests enjoying a glass of our award-winning wines, whilst feasting on our delicious grazing boards.
This year we have added some festive events, and we are thrilled that Sarah from Paddock Flowers will be returning to host our Festive Wreath Making. We can cater for private groups of up to 28 people, so please enquire for your special event.
The vineyard is a riot of autumn colours as we turn our attention to festive period, working closely with local producers, to put together a range of Welsh Hampers that showcase the best of local food and drink.
