GRADE BADMINTON BY JAMES LI The 2026 winter season has been an incredible campaign for all NSBHS grade badminton teams. Firstly, a massive thank you to Mr Lochen for coaching and being there throughout the entire season, supporting us all the way. As the captain, I believe I speak for all the boys when I say the winter season has been a very joyful experience, with many new friendships being formed between teammates and opponents alike. I applaud all teams for their continuous dedication and display of camaraderie and sportsmanship throughout the whole season. The 15s team had perhaps one of the best seasons our grade badminton has ever seen. Winning every single match, defeating Normanhurst in the semis and then Epping Boys in the final, they finished as undefeated champions. A huge congratulations to: Aaron Lin, Daniel Yao, Jerry Hu, Ethan Yanning Wang, and Matthew Sun for their perfect season, and an amazing display of effort and skill. The 2nd Grade team also had a highly commendable performance. Despite being narrowly knocked out in the semi-finals, they still had, by all means, a successful season and finished 3rd. I am proud of their continued perseverance, and I am sure they are proud of their own efforts as well. Thank you to: Jacob Wang, Trystan Shang, Isaac Hou, Andrew Zong Han Li, and Tyler Xu. Last but not least, the 1st grade team, through a series of intense and close matches, also fell in the semi-finals to Normanhurst and finished the season in 3rd. I am by all measures incredibly proud of the team and firmly believe that we all gave it our best and had a great season. Thank you for playing alongside me for a memorable and brilliant season; Ken Fu, Lincoln Yeung, Jayden Woo and Lucas Liu. Next year, we certainly hope and will aim for all teams to bring back the win. Nevertheless, this season could not have been possible without the teamwork and commitment of all the boys. Once again, congratulations to the 15s team and thank you to Mr Lochen.

OPEN LAWN BALLS BY JAMES CHEN The 2026 season was remarkably successful for opens lawn bowls, having lost the grand final only by a single point. Despite this, however, every member of the team should celebrate their achievements this year, particularly when the difference between first and second place is within a margin of error. Earlier in the season (and, indeed, at the end), Normanhurst was a formidable opponent. Despite what became a rather suboptimal outcome from that match, the team persevered, continuing to diligently practise during byes and strategising. For every team member, the effort and hard work paid off in the form of a game that not only had the Normanhurst team visibly and audibly shaken but a playstyle that was downright commanding. Each and every person on the team should be incredibly proud of not only of where the team had ended up but their individual contributions and development as well. On behalf of the team, I thank Ms. Shehata for her dedication, encouraging words and advice to the team. The team would not have ended the season on such a positive note if it weren’t for her vital contributions.

1ST GRADE LAWN BALLS BY LACHLAN STEENSON The North Sydney Boys 1st Grade Lawn Bowls team had a great Winter Sport season, bringing together some familiar faces as well as a few new ones. From the start of the season, everyone worked hard and contributed to the team, with plenty of improvement and some great moments along the way. The Year 11s especially played a big part in the team this year, with this being their final season representing North Sydney Boys in lawn bowls. Their experience and encouragement helped bring the team together, while the newer players quickly became an important part of the group as well. There was always plenty of support between everyone, whether things were going our way or we were having to work hard to get back into a game. After working through the full season, we were really pleased to finish in second place. It was a great result and a fitting way to finish what was a really enjoyable season for the whole team. We would especially like to thank Ms Shehata for her encouragement and support throughout the season, as well as Liam from North Sydney Bowling Club for helping us improve our game. We are very grateful for everything they did for us and for making the season such a great experience.

15S LAWN BALLS BY KIERAN PHINITH The 2026 Winter Sport Season has really been a fantastic experience for the 15s Lawn Bowls team, filled with lots of memorable games, challenges and achievements. Throughout the season our team showed strong camaraderie, sportsmanship and determination, improving our skills with every match. One of the major highlights was the way that our team continued to compete strongly throughout the season, even when matches became challenging. We developed our accuracy, consistency and tactical decision making, learning how to read the greens and how to adjust our bowls to different situations. Each game provided an opportunity to learn something new and improve as a team together. Although we unfortunately did not make it into the semi finals, it still gave us a valuable journey to learn from. Our team also demonstrated great sportsmanship, supporting one another and maintaining a positive attitude whether we were winning or facing a difficult game. Overall, I would like to thank our coach, Ms Shehata for organising everything and the entire 15s team for making it such a great season. While we may not have reached the semi finals, we gained valuable experience, improved our skills and created memories that we can all learn from and carry into future seasons.

1ST GRADE SOCCER BY ALBERT WANG The 2026 Winter Sport season was a memorable one for First Grade Soccer, defined not by the number of wins on the scoreboard, but by the growth and development of the team throughout the season. With a new group of players this year, we worked to establish ourselves in the first grade comp, building chemistry and understanding with each other as we played throughout the season. While results did not always go our way, every game provided learning opportunities, allowing us to develop more confidence, communication and resilience in the way we played. The biggest highlight of the season was playing well towards the backend of the season, and seeing how much the boys improved, stepping up for each other and supporting each other through the tougher moments of the season, showing resilience as we turned up every week ready to play, regardless of the result. Ultimately, we came together as a group and overcame challenges we faced all season, finishing on the season with some wins and good games, where we all lifted each other to finish the season the best way we could.

2ND GRADE SOCCER BY RAPHAEL SUSANTO The Opens 2nd Grade Soccer team had a winter season of grit, persistence and an unbreakable team spirit. Starting the competition in Round 1 on a high, with a convincing win, we showed from the start what our squad could deliver when playing with confidence and flowing ball movement. As the competition continued, we faced a run of tough fixtures against some good teams in the league. We had a tough midseason period where the results weren’t always kind to us, but the scorelines never really told the story of the heart and hustle the boys brought to the pitch every week. Instead of letting our heads drop, we tightened our defensive organisation and fought for every loose ball. That resilience paid off in the second half of the season, where we earned several hardwon draws against top tier opposition with sheer determination and discipline. A special thanks to our coach, Mr Murphy, for his strategic insights, steady guidance and belief in the squad that kept us focused through every match. He kept reminding us to play with pride, support our teammates and uphold our standards no matter what the scoreboard said. Our final ladder position does not quite tell the story of what this group achieved, but the individual growth, collective toughness and genuine friendships made along the way made this season an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

3RD GRADE SOCCER BY BRIAN LIU Coming into this season, there was a blanket of anticipation and excitement, and for many in this team, it would be their last season of soccer. However for some, their soccer journey was just beginning. Our first game of this season was a intense game against North Sydney Boys first, where the effort areas were definitely highlighted in the determination to header the ball, defenders hustle, and clearing the ball in corners. It ended in a tight draw against a competent team, and with this momentum, we carried this energy into our next three games drawing 2 of them and losing in a tightly contested match against Normanhurst. Our highlight of the season came against a fiery Epping 4ths team that was filled with team chemistry. The best goal of our 2026 campaign arrived when Aayam, Year 11, scored a near halfway miraculous goal off a nearly impossible assist made by Liem, Year 11. With this amazing win, and some tight draws, we made our way into the semifinals, where we held our ground and sadly bowed out of the competition with a heavy hearted loss. Being a part of NSB’s team culture means holding ourselves accountable for mistakes yet not being overbearing or berating each other, it means putting a collective interest over individual desire, it means celebrating wins humbly and staying hungry to improve after losses. Thank you 3rd grade soccer for a truly exhilarating season!

4TH GRADE SOCCER BY MASON BROWN From the beginning of the season till the end, the team approached every match with genuine commitment, regardless of the outcome. In goals, David Guan protected and dived for the ball relentlessly. Meanwhile, the defense was anchored by a solid backline, with Mason Brown, Matthew Xu, Dennis Li and Leo Leung constantly fighting for the ball. In the middle was Derrick Hong, Ivan Zhang and David Tong controlling the tempo — breaking up play and driving forward with relentless energy. Up front, Marcus Young, Bryan Vuong and Tom Yuan, leading the attacking line with pace and composure, whilst Justin Cheng and David P’ng provided the spark off the bench. A highlight of the season was definitely our fierce rivalry against Hornsby Boys High School, with Bryan Vuong and Derrick Hong scoring tremendous goals and the overall team demonstrating falcon pride. Our game against Epping Boys High School was also highly memorable, with Marcus Young and Bryan Vuong leading the attack with goals and the team showcasing their tremendous skills and conducting themselves with respect and integrity. However, more important than any match that happened on the field, was the connections we built as a team off the field, as we grew closer, supported one another, and created memories that we will carry with us beyond the season. Finally, we would also like to thank our wonderful coach, Ms Sacchetta, for her constant encouragement and dedication towards the team.

13A SOCCER BY DANIEL CHU The 13A’s soccer team has had a great season this winter. Although we started off rough with little teamwork and knowledge of how everyone else played, our spirits were always high and we never gave up, even when we had 2 or 3 weeks of straight losses. In the end, we pulled ourselves together and, even though we didn’t achieve the result that we wanted, tying to Epping Boys in the semifinals, we are all proud of what we achieved. In our first match against Homebush, we began our season with a loss, conceding 5 goals and only scoring 3. Even though it wasn’t the result we wanted, we were determined to win and climb back up the ladder. As the season progressed, our teamwork and chemistry improved. We started consistently winning games against Homebush and Normanhurst while putting up a good fight against the other teams. Ultimately, we achieved a fourth place position on the ladder and progressed to the semifinals. Despite tying in the semifinals and being eliminated, our team put up a good fight, maintaining a 4-1 lead until the last 5 minutes. This end to our season was both disappointing and motivational, as all of us are determined to win next season. Our team wants to say thanks to our coach, Mr Tsikrikas, for inspiring us and teaching us to never give up even in the face of adversity and hardship. This season has really shaped us and allowed us to become better as individuals and as a team.

13B SOCCER BY GERRARD LI The 2026 Winter Sports season was a remarkable debut for the North Sydney Boys 13B soccer team, with its fair share of ups and downs. Every match demanded a lot of grit and determination, which ultimately brought us all much closer together as a squad. We actually started off really strong with back-to-back victories, and even though we unfortunately missed out on the finals, we are still immensely proud of how we played. Even during our slightly chaotic moments, like when we got unorganised and completely forgot our tactical positions on the pitch, or had to scramble when people forgot their shin pads, we never lost our sense of fun or our genuine passion for the game. Our journey was packed with shared laughs, a few stressful moments during high-pressure matches, and everything in between, but what truly defined us was our commitment to every single game and the outstanding camaraderie we displayed on the pitch. Of course, none of this would have been possible without our incredible coach, Mr Lott, and we would like to thank him sincerely. His impact went far beyond just drawing up standard plays; his constant encouragement instilled proper mental toughness in us, teaching the squad to recognize our strengths, build a growth mindset, and always strive for excellence. Ultimately, it was an unforgettable experience for our very first season of sport at North Sydney Boys, and we are already looking forward to building on this next year.

14B SOCCER BY SARIM MAHMUD Our 14B’s soccer team had a marvelous season this year combined with eagerness to win and having a great time. As a captain it’s been an honour to play with this team, cherishing the numerous fun and joyful moments we’ve created playing beside one another. Although we lost some matches, we played at our best showing what our team is capable of even at our lowest. Each player banded together as one showcasing extreme dedication, camaraderie and willpower to win. Throughout the year we grew together demonstrating how well we can play as one, helping each other in overcoming our weaknesses. We changed our strategy, improving our gameplay quality after every loss and defeat. Regardless of unjust conduct by opponents, we stood strong with integrity and respect. Every single player contributed significantly to victory. Lucas locked down the goal, stopping fierce shots from opponents whilst Jayden supported the backline defence. Rohit and Minh surged their way through into enemy territory securing us valuable goals. Junxi and Adrian kept the game in the mid-field alive whilst Mr Easy gave us motivation from the sidelines cheering us on. Despite our best efforts and wins, we sadly missed out on the semifinals but as a team we’ve come a long way being better than ever.

15A SOCCER BY SAMUEL ZHOU Every game with the A’s soccer team was exhilarating. Relentless attacks through our midfielders to our strikers, who never knew how to score a mediocre goal. When we didn’t have possession, the opponents were faced against our formidable defence, and in the rare case that they slipped through, our keeper, Sanith, had already got to it. The team barely changed from the last time I was with them, just stronger and faster from all those games during lunch. Throughout the season, we had our share of wins and losses which shaped us to be better but didn’t define us. As a team, we improved in our gameplay, worked on accurate passes, practised better shots, learnt stronger jockeying techniques and improved individually. At the end of the day, we either won or had a great time together. But if you ask me how many times we lost, I couldn’t remember anyways; those were written on paper, which I never read. However, if you ask me about the memories with the team, I would be able to go on about all the times Ethan K scored a banger, or when Justin ran across the whole field to commit to defence, or even when the defence line scored 2 own goals in the last minutes and we still won 4-3; those are the moments I would never forget. Lastly, I and probably the whole team would like to thank Mr Parker, our coach, for helping out with the subs and making sure everyone had their fair share of the spotlight. Some games against some other school became rough, and Mr Parker stepped in and helped us keep our cool, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship within our team.

U15 SOCCER BY LUCAS DING The 2026 winter season resulted in many successes and happy moments both on and off the field. Our season started off shaky, with many new members joining and some confusion over positions and roles. However, as the season continued, our team chemistry improved, and we went on to remain unbeaten for five games in a row. When we played, we didn’t rely on one superstar; instead, players from every position contributed to our successful season. Throughout the season, we experienced many memorable moments, ranging from last-minute winners against Asquith to dominant victories at Waverton Park. However, the wins on the pitch weren’t the only things I gained from this season. I met many new people, made new friends, and created memories that I will remember for a long time. We finished just short of the semi-finals, missing out on goal difference. Despite this, we outperformed our expectations, especially considering that many of our best players from last season had moved up. Ultimately, I would like to thank everyone on the team for creating such an unforgettable season, and especially Ms Dell, who created our tactics and, more importantly, helped make our season possible.

1ST GRADE TABLE TENNIS BY AARON CHEONG The North Sydney Boys 1st Grade Table Tennis team’s 2026 season was defined not just by its results, but by the camaraderie and resilience displayed by our team, its memorable moments which were evident especially amidst tough matches. From the beginning of the season, student morale across all teams was high, bolstering one another, and showing what it truly means to be a Falcon. Each match, no matter a win or loss taught the team something, tactically, mentally or emotionally, where our continued growth and commitment successfully carried us to the Grand Finals of the season. Playing across a wide range of schools and styles also sharpened our composure and adaptability between matches, a skill that proved crucial as the season progressed. In the Grand Finals, we faced Homebush Boys, a team that had beaten us twice in our three meetings this season. Knowing this was the game which would define the season, we relied on weeks of practice and experience, without underestimating opponents’ strength. The matches were tight, often lasting to final sets, but after a tense battle of wins and losses, we came away as the Premiers of the region. Of course, none of this would have been possible without our coach, Mr. Lin, whose dedication, guidance and genuine care for the team drove our outstanding results. On behalf of the team, thank you Mr. Lin, for pushing us beyond our limits through all your experience, making this one of the best sport season runs at NSB, only possible through your support.

2ND GRADE TABLE TENNIS BY ALVIN YUAN The 2026 Winter season for the Opens 2nd table tennis team was nothing short of extraordinary. Our team was filled with talented individuals, whether it came from innate talent or accumulated skill, but more importantly, all of us had an unfaltering will to win, and that itself is more valuable than anything else in our team. Throughout the season, we navigated through victories, celebrating with slightly too much “excitement”, but also with our losses, in which we reflected on what we could’ve done better or differently to secure a win in the future. Gradually, these shared experiences culminated in both improvements in our skills, but also in becoming closer together as a team. Ultimately, we managed to secure a place in the finals against Homebush. Despite our unfortunate loss, we gave it everything we had, and that was more than just winning. It was about recognising how far we had come as a team, from when we first began playing together to competing against some of the strongest teams in the competition. While we may not have walked away with the victory, we walked away with experience, friendships and memories we created throughout the season. Finally, I would like to extend my appreciation especially to Mr Lin. He was there to witness our wins, and also there to witness our “whiffs”, but despite all of that, his support and patience for us never faded. His guidance throughout the season helped us not only become better players, but also a stronger and more connected team. For that, we are incredibly grateful.

14S TABLE TENNIS BY CHRISTOPHER GAO Table tennis is not an easy sport to play. As the under 14s Table Tennis team continued playing matches against other schools throughout the 2026 winter sport season, we started realising that there were many other teams that posed significant challenges to our journey. We started off the season with a solid win against Homebush. Subsequent to our first match, we had our hopes up - maybe it wasn’t that hard after all. However, we were then matched up against schools like Epping Boys and Normanhurst. Within a series of wins and losses against top competitors, we soon realised that we needed to have a sense of confidence of stepping up for the team. As the captain of our team, I started to take the initiative of motivating my team and deciding the lineups for each match. The main highlight of our journey in the season was the semifinals. We were faced with Epping Boys. In this crucial match, they started off strong, taking the victory for the first two singles matches. Our team had to perform better in order to have a chance at moving onto the finals. Fortunately, our third and fourth players stepped their game up, tying the scoreline at 2-2. In the doubles matches, we each earned one match. The score was 3-3, and the last doubles match was the decider. Unfortunately this time, we fell just short and Epping Boys took the victory, moving onto the grand finals. Thank you to Lucas, Jensen, Jimmy, and Max - my fellow teammates - for performing at their best in the whole season. I would also like to extend this by thanking Mr Lin, our coach, for keeping us motivated and providing critical tactical insights for our team, and a broader appreciation for the organisers of this season. Everyone’s contributions made this season a great experience and one to remember.

15S TABLE TENNIS BY ISAAC WONG The 15s Table Tennis team had an incredible season filled with many ups and downs. Although our journey ultimately resulted in a loss, we all contributed our best towards the team and it was truly an unforgettable experience. We experienced great success in playing against the other teams, but although we gave it our best, we were ultimately unable to grasp the victory. Despite this, we made a substantial and respectable amount of progress, reaching the stage of the finals. I’m sure everyone had fun though and although it wasn’t the outcome we wanted, we still held a positive outlook on the future. This was the accumulated effort of all of our teammates. Alex was exceptional when it mattered most, bringing back victories from the brink of defeat. William was amazing in his consistency and won most of his games. Jayden motivated our team and held an optimistic attitude even in defeat and Lucas, although a reserve, managed to win some unexpected matches. Our whole team pushed through tough matches and never gave up. Our coach, Mr Lin, guided us with exceptional patience and advice, helping us bring out our potential in dire situations. Even though the season ended short of a complete victory, the experience brought us closer together as a team and helped us learn valuable lessons about teamwork and sportsmanship. We are all proud of how far we’ve come and are excited for what is going to come ahead.

1ST GRADE TENNIS BY NEO XU The 2026 Winter Tennis season was an outstanding one for the North Sydney Boys High School 1st Opens Tennis team. From the get go, we instantly recognised the strong caliber of our players, and accordingly, the team demonstrated strong consistency, determination and teamwork, establishing ourselves as one of the strongest sides in the competition. Throughout the season, the team produced dominant performances across both singles and doubles. Every player contributed to our success, with strong individual results complemented by excellent communication and teamwork on the doubles court. Despite facing competitive and motivated opposition, we remained composed and maintained a high standard of tennis throughout the season. A significant contributor to our success was our outstanding coach Mr Berry, whose commitment played an instrumental role throughout the season. His perseverance and tactical insight helped the team perform at its highest level, and allowed us to navigate through the tight playoffs that arose. Our consistent performances saw us finish the season as premier champions, securing the title in convincing fashion. Beyond the results, the highlights of the season was the fun team environment, with players supporting and encouraging one another both on and off the court. The commitment shown by the entire team during matches (and sometimes during training) was a major factor in our success. Special shoutout to the Seconds Opens Tennis Team, who came back in both the semifinals and finals, down in games in the tiebreaker. After two nerve-wracking reverse sets to decide the outcome, the team miraculously came out on top, inspiring the Firsts Opens Team to dominate their matches even harder. Winning the 1st Opens competition was a rewarding conclusion to a highly successful Winter season and a testament to the hard work of the players and the exceptional guidance of Mr Berry. On a personal note, I am forever honoured to have had such a wonderful team and the wonderful coaching of Mr Berry every single year. The team looks forward to continuing to represent North Sydney Boys with the same determination and pride in future seasons.

2ND GRADE TENNIS BY DYLAN HAN As the winter season draws to a close, looking back on our journey brings immense pride. Our squad, driven by a shared passion for the game, consisted of Leon, Daniel, Joshua, Aaron, and Dylan. Through our commitment to every match this season, we maintained an undefeated record whilst demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship and embodying the Falcon values. The weekly grind towards the championship was highlighted by intense rallies, close victories, and the occasional frustrating loss that only fuelled our drive. Our excellent camaraderie propelled us into the semi-finals, where we clinched the win against Normanhurst in reverse doubles. Furthermore, in the grand final our refined skills and unwavering team spirit, allowed us to defend the title in our narrow win against Epping. This premiership reflects months of dedication, mutual support, and constant improvement. We evolved not just as individual athletes, but together as a team. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our coach Mr Berry for his exceptional mentorship and patience all season. Finally, a massive thank you to my teammates for an unforgettable final season of tennis.

14S TENNIS BY RISHI MAYUR The 14’s Tennis team has had an unforgettable season. Despite having a mix between younger talents and returning players, we quickly began developing friendships and bonds with each other. Even with the amount of sheer talent on this year’s team, learning how to cooperate and support one another during both singles and doubles matches was the key to our success. It wasn’t an easy season by any means. Throughout the round robins, we were challenged by strong opponents time and time again. After a 4-2 loss against Epping, it was clear that we would need to dig deep to find a way to beat them. Match after match, we tried our absolute hardest, resulting in a rematch against Epping in the grand finals. Everyone on our team fought hard for every point with near flawless execution. With a clutch game win from Jacob and some stunning plays in the reverse doubles tiebreak, we secured ourselves a 5-3 win to defend our premiership. Even with the great results, we also made sure to demonstrate sportsmanship, camaraderie, and respect with every match. Of course, we’d like to thank everybody who played on the team this year, not only for playing so well, but for being so encouraging and friendly with each other. It’s only with assisting and encouraging each other that we get these outcomes from a season. We’d also like to give thanks to Ms Lu for being so supportive of the team this season. Your commitment to the team and good vibes has made this season just such an enjoyable experience.
