WHATâS HAPPENING Trump orders investigation into Bidenâs autopen signatures President Donald Trump is directing his administration to investigate Joe Bidenâs actions as president, alleging aides masked his predecessorâs âcognitive declineâ and raising questions about his use of the autopen to sign pardons and other documents. The order Wednesday could lay the groundwork for claiming that a range of Bidenâs actions were invalid. Biden responded, âLet me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency,â adding, âAny suggestion that I didnât is ridiculous and false.â HANDOUT PHOTO
Supreme Court tosses Mexicoâs lawsuit alleging US gunmakers have fueled violence
One for the ages Wednesday was Elizabeth Dole Day in North Carolina, as Gov. Josh Stein hosted the former senator, cabinet secretary and FTC commissioner in Raleigh. From left to right: First lady Anna Stein, Gov. Stein, former Sen. Elizabeth Dole, state Rep. Harry Warren and state Sen. Carl Ford.
The Supreme Court is tossing out a $10 billion lawsuit the companies fuel cartel gun violence. The unanimous Thursday ruling comes under U.S. laws that largely shield gunmakers from lawsuits. A lower court in Boston had let the case proceed under an exception for situations in which companies are accused of violating the law. The exception has been used in other lawsuits, including a landmark case over the 2012 Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school massacre. Mexico has strict gun laws, but thousands of guns are smuggled in by the countryâs drug cartels annually. The National Shooting Sports Foundation calls the ruling âa tremendous victory.â
