Vibe Jewelry
In the Virgin Islands, weddings unfold against a backdrop of turquoise waters, warm breezes, and a culture rich with artistry. It’s no surprise that couples increasingly seek wedding gifts and jewelry that do more than sparkle; they want pieces that tell a story. Whether it’s custom engraving, symbolic gemstones, heirloom traditions, or cultural motifs unique to the islands, meaningful adornments can become lasting reminders of a couple’s history and future.
One of the most iconic symbols of love in the territory is the St. Croix Hook Bracelet, a design famously popularized by Sonya’s. The hook, worn open upward for love coming in, or downward when love is taken, carries a romantic message perfect for engagements and weddings. Many couples engrave these bracelets with wedding dates, initials, or personal mottos, transforming a beloved local classic into an intimate keepsake.
Just down the road, Crucian Gold offers another dimension of story-rich jewelry. Known for their handcrafted pieces inspired by Caribbean flora, fauna, and the sea, they create designs that allow couples to weave cultural motifs into their wedding day. From handtied knots symbolizing love and the endurance of strong but tender bonds to Caribbean wave patterns representing life’s ebb and flow, Crucian Gold’s craftsmanship offers endless opportunities to infuse meaning into wedding gifts.
For brides or mothers of the couple looking for something elegant and timeless, The Pearl Lady on St. Thomas brings a touch of classic romance. Pearls, long associated with purity and new beginnings, make beautiful wedding-
day adornments. Selecting pearls that reflect birth months, personal colors, or meaningful shapes turns a traditional gem into a deeply personalized expression of love. The Pearl Lady’s custom designs allow brides to incorporate family
stones or create new heirlooms that can be passed from generation to generation.
Rooted in the beauty and spirit of the Caribbean, Vibe Jewelry’s handcrafted designs bring a sense of sunshine, story, and symbolism to your wedding gifts. At the heart of the collection is the signature Love Hook Bracelet, inspired by an old fisherman’s tale and worn as a symbol of love, luck, and connection.
Adding to this sense of islandinspired storytelling, Eden Jewelers offers its radiant Caribbean Sun piece, a design that captures the warmth and brilliance of the islands, making it a meaningful symbol of light, joy, and new beginnings for couples starting their journey together.

Of course, storytelling doesn’t begin and end with jewelry. In the Virgin Islands, it’s tradition to toast life’s milestones with Cruzan Rum, a staple of celebration and craftsmanship. Couples often gift engraved Cruzan Rum bottles to their wedding party or incorporate the spirit into their reception with signature cocktails named after their love story. Limited-edition bottles or custom labels can become keepsakes long after the last toast is made.
Whether it’s the symbolism of a stone, the lineage of an heirloom, or the cultural meaning behind local designs, wedding gifts in the Virgin Islands carry the power to honor both heritage and love. By choosing pieces rooted in island craftsmanship and personal storytelling, couples create mementos that will be cherished far beyond the wedding day.

PERSONALIZE YOUR VIRGIN ISLANDS VOWS
Elevate your island wedding with curated details, cultural touches, and moments designed to feel entirely your own.
The Virgin Islands offer a dreamy backdrop for your wedding — turquoise waters, golden sands, and swaying palms. But how do you make your destination celebration truly yours? The secret lies in weaving your love story into the details. From islandinspired touches to heartfelt traditions, here are creative ways to make your Virgin Islands wedding one-of-a-kind.
ISLAND-INSPIRED WELCOME BAGS
Start your celebration with a warm island welcome. Create custom tote bags filled with local goodies such as mini bottles of Cruzan rum, coconut candies,
bush tea bundles, locally made soaps, and a personalized itinerary map. Add a handwritten note from the couple to set the tone of gratitude and joy.
CEREMONY WITH A VIEW — AND A TWIST
Exchange vows against the breathtaking backdrop of cliffs, coves, or beaches, then add your own personal flair. Write your vows as messages in a bottle or incorporate a sand ceremony using sand from your favorite island beach. Have a steel drum band play your song for that unforgettable Caribbean touch.
Meredith Zimmerman (2)
The Perfect Partnership
From intuitive service and thoughtful touches to a wide-variety of vibrant beachfront and ocean view venues, we ensure that every detail of your wedding dreams comes to life while you savor every unforgettable moment.
Reserve your special date at 340-249-0100 or email sales@frenchmansreef.co
LOCAL FLAVORS ON THE MENU
Let your menu tell your story by blending island flavors with your favorite dishes. Think jerk chicken tacos, coconut curry risotto, or family recipes with a tropical twist. Feature local favorites like kallaloo soup, johnny cakes, and guava tarts. Top it all off with rum cake and custom toppers — perhaps mini versions of you in beachwear!
ISLAND FLORALS AND DÉCOR
Bring the island’s natural beauty into your celebration with native flowers like bougainvillea, frangipani, or hibiscus. Accent your décor with sea fans, driftwood, or coral, and use coconut shells or calabash bowls as centerpieces. Name your tables after meaningful places like your proposal spot, first vacation, or favorite beach.
Beyond the views, it’s the intention behind each detail that shapes a wedding guests will remember—and one that truly reflects you.
CULTURAL AND PERSONAL TOUCHES
Honor your heritage or love story with meaningful ceremony elements. Jump the broom, pour a libation to ancestors, or exchange handmade shell necklaces. Blend cultural traditions with island symbolism for a truly personal moment that celebrates who you are as a couple.
CARIBBEAN MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT
Nothing sets the mood like live island rhythms. Hire a steel pan band or reggae group, or surprise your guests with moko jumbies, traditional stilt dancers that bring energy and excitement to any reception. A ukulele or acoustic steel drum serenade at sunset adds romance to the air.
PERSONALIZED ATTIRE AND FAVORS
Keep your style tropical and relaxed. Think linen suits, barefoot sandals, and floral prints. Bridesmaids can carry shell bouquets or wear tropical colors. For favors, gift your guests locally made hot sauce, spice blends, candles, or mini bottles of island rum as a flavorful reminder of paradise.
INTERACTIVE GUEST EXPERIENCES
Transform your guestbook into an interactive keepsake. Set up a watercolor island map for guests to sign, a “message in a bottle” station, or a DIY Polaroid photo wall. Consider inviting local artisans to paint or craft live during your reception, creating meaningful mementos to treasure.
PICTURE-PERFECT MOMENTS
Make time for photo ops that capture the island’s spirit. Consider locations like under palm trees, near historic sugar mill ruins, or aboard a sailboat. For the adventurous, plan a “trash the dress” session in the surf after the ceremony — a fun, freeing, and fabulously photogenic experience.
YOUR STORY, ISLAND STYLE
Your wedding is more than a single moment; it’s a memory in the making. In the Virgin Islands, paradise is already provided. All that’s left to add is you: the laughter, the love, and the personal touches that turn your destination wedding into the ultimate expression of your story together.

Amy first met Adam in 2017 through his sister, Ali, a close friend of Amy’s. The two didn’t cross paths again until 2021, when a mutual friend brought Amy to a party Adam was hosting at his home. The couple realised love had entered the equation when they were at Adam’s best friend’s wedding in Lake Geneva. Soon after, they travelled to Anegada, where Adam proposed outside Sid’s at Pomato Point with a ring he’d designed himself, set with a diamond his grandmother had worn for 64 years.
Adam was born and raised in the British Virgin Islands, which Amy had called home since 2016.
“There was nowhere else in the world we would rather have shared with our loved ones as we celebrated our marriage,” says Amy. “We loved sharing the things we enjoy most here with everyone and our wedding itinerary reflected that.”
Amy shares the vendors that helped make their destination wedding unforgettable.

“We rented out the entire hotel so we had exclusive use. The team there is incredible. They are truly the best and looked after us so well! They worked with all of our requests.”
In Their Own Words:
“We put together a five-day wedding itinerary filled with all of our favourite things in the BVI so our friends and family could truly experience our home. As an event planner, I planned most of the wedding myself, with Adam’s help of course, but in hindsight, I’d recommend outsourcing as much as you can so you can be fully present and soak it all in. Anegada was the perfect backdrop, with so many beautiful spots to host something special each day and night.”

Owning a home here can be an exciting adventure. Outside of Cruz Bay, most homes operate independently, using cisterns for rainwater collection and on-site septic systems. ayla and Garrett met when they attended the same college.
“I took one look at Garrett and knew that he was my person,” Kayla says of Garrett. “He says the same.”
The couple dated briefly before going to their respective homes for summer. When they reunited at school the following year, “it was all over,” says Kayla. “We were inseparable. Every waking moment we could have together, we did. I had never been so in love and neither had he.”
A college friend of the couple’s had vacationed regularly on St. John since he was a kid, so Kayla and Garrett decided to see for themselves what all the fuss was about.
“From the minute we stepped foot on the island, it was magic,” says Kayla. “It felt like I was living in a dream.”
After extending their return flight three times, the couple knew they would get married on St. John.

PARADISE, THEN AND NOW
KRISTIE & ZACHARY
JULY 22, 2015
Kristie and Zachary met in high school, and though it was a love-at-first-sight moment for the couple, they did not pursue a relationship antd fell out of touch. A few years later, the two crossed paths again at college house parties.
“Kristie came up with an elaborate reason to put her number in my phone one of those nights, and three months later, we moved in together,” says Zachary. “We’ve been building our life together ever since.”
On July 22, 2015, the couple tied the knot on Jost Van Dyke in a simple, intimate ceremony with about 30 of their closest friends. The bride and her bridesmaids styled their own hair and makeup, and Kristie wore a Justin Alexandra dress she toted with her on the
plane, taxi, and ferry journey to Jost.
“A few of the employees at the Soggy Dollar Bar and Sandcastle Hotel set up a path leading to the water, and we exchanged vows right on the shoreline,” says Kristie. “We went very light on the planning, and it worked out better than it should have. We kept things as simple as possible.”
That laid-back approach was undoubtedly inspired in part by the BVI’s remarkable ability to inspire visitors to slow down, relax, and soak up the surrounding beauty, a tempting trait that brought Zachary, Kristie, and their two sons back for a return visit last year.
“The boys had the best time exploring all of the coral and seashells and loved everyone at Hendo’s Hideout,” says Kristie. “They treated us like family and went above and beyond to make sure the boys’ birthdays and our anniversary were amazing. The kids also developed a love for ring toss and spent many hours at Soggy Dollar competing.”

Voyage Charters
For couples seeking a wedding that's as adventurous as it is romantic, the Virgin Islands offers a breathtaking backdrop, and there’s no better way to say “I do” than aboard a sailboat gliding through turquoise waters.
Imagine exchanging vows with the sea breeze in your hair, the sun setting over the horizon, and gentle waves as your wedding march. A sailboat wedding in the Virgin Islands blends island elegance with nautical charm, offering an intimate, unforgettable experience.
From sleek catamarans to classic monohulls and luxury yachts, the Virgin Islands’ charter companies offer a range of vessels to fit your style and guest count. Catamarans are particularly popular for
weddings thanks to their spacious decks and smooth sailing. Consider hiring a crewed charter for a seamless experience. Many offer wedding packages that include catering, bar service, and décor.
Two standout options in the BVI are Voyage Charters and Aristocat Daysails. Voyage Charters, based in Soper’s Hole, Tortola, offers modern, crewed sailing catamarans that are ideal for weddings and honeymoons. Their yachts feature luxurious amenities, expansive decks, and custom itineraries tailored to your celebration.
Aristocat Daysails specializes in day sails and private charters, with a focus on small, elegant wedding events. Their team offers personalized service and intimate settings perfect for elopements or microweddings, often paired with snorkel excursions and beach visits.
Whether you envision a barefoot ceremony at anchor or a dockside exchange of vows, flexibility is key. Consider a sunset sail followed by a champagne toast and a candlelit dinner on board. Many boats can accommodate up to 20 guests for the ceremony and reception, while others are perfect for elopements or micro-weddings.
Keep décor simple to complement the natural beauty around you — think flowing linens, tropical florals, and marine-inspired accents. Lightweight attire is essential, and brides often opt for breezy gowns and barefoot sandals. For photography, golden hour at sea provides a magical light that makes every moment picture-perfect.
The best part of a sailboat wedding? Your honeymoon begins the moment you say “I do.” Cruise from island to island, snorkeling in hidden coves, dining at seaside shacks, and falling asleep under the stars.

Nicole & Jake
NOVEMBER 8, 2025
hen Nicole and Jake first met, they were both dating other people.
“Years later, we reconnected by chance in New York City and felt an instant spark,” says Jake. “Within a short period of time, we were dating, and a few months after that, we move in together in Brooklyn. After about a year and a half, I proposed on a beautiful hike by the Hudson River and she said yes.”
The couple chose Tortola as their wedding destination due in part to Jake’s experience vacationing there throughout his life.
Nicole and Jake share their thoughts on the couple’s wedding vendors.

Caribbean Jules Photography
“She’s the best. I wouldn’t use anybody else. She captured some beautiful moments and made everything fun and not forced.” – JAKE
In Their Own Words:
“We never pictured ourselves having a traditional banquetstyle wedding, so getting married in the Virgin Islands felt like the most natural fit, especially since it would likely be the only time all of the people we love could gather there together,” says Nicole. “Our guests stayed at both Long Bay Beach Resort and Sebastian’s on the Beach, which made the weekend incredibly easy since the two properties are right next to each other. It allowed everyone to be close together while still enjoying the beauty of both locations.”
“Our wedding experience was incredible,” says Jake. “We took 100 people on a boat trip to Jost Van Dyke and then to Norman Island, which was extremely memorable. The welcome party at Sebastian's was a great start to the weekend, and Long Bay was a perfect venue for a beautiful ceremony and reception.”
SETTING THE SOUNDTRACK
How Live Music Brings Virgin Islands Weddings to Life
Live music is the heartbeat of a Virgin Islands wedding—an element that transforms a beautiful setting into an unforgettable celebration. Across the islands, bands bring not only sound, but atmosphere, personality, and a sense of place that recorded playlists simply can’t replicate.
For Nashville-based duo Willow Hill, weddings are about creating a shared experience. Their sound blends soulful country, pop, rock, and even Motown influences, spanning decades to keep every guest engaged. “We’re definitely a vibe,” they explain, emphasizing upbeat energy and singalong moments that bring people together. With hundreds of performances each year, their ability to “shift gears” and adapt to the crowd ensures the dance floor stays full.
That adaptability is especially important in the Virgin Islands, where destination weddings carry a unique energy. The Housewives of St. John describe their Americana folk rock style as a bridge between visitors and local culture. “People travel for it, so there’s a different excitement,” they note. While they may weave in reggae influences, they’re mindful of honoring authentic island traditions. Their performances thrive on interaction, reading the room in real time and responding to the crowd’s mood.
WHERE SOUND, SETTING, AND CELEBRATION ALIGN — CREATING SOMETHING TRULY UNFORGETTABLE.
Meanwhile, Lourdes & the Switch bring a polished versatility that suits multi-generational celebrations. Their “modern retro” approach blends contemporary hits with timeless classics, allowing them to move from cocktail hour to high-energy reception. With an expansive repertoire, they tailor each set to the flow of the event, building momentum as the night unfolds.

AN UNFORGETTABLE CELEBRATION, BEAUTIFULLY CARRIED FROM FIRST NOTE TO LAST DANCE.
Despite their stylistic differences, all three bands agree on one thing: personalization is key. Whether through curated playlists, special requests, or careful coordination with planners, live music works best when it reflects the couple’s vision. Clear communication—especially around logistics like beach permits, power access, and timelines—is essential in a destination setting. For couples planning a Virgin Islands wedding, the takeaway is simple. Music isn’t just part of the celebration—it defines it. As Willow Hill puts it, “It’s your day… make it the best party of your whole life.”

Planning a destination wedding in the U.S. Virgin Islands means more than a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony. It’s an opportunity to turn your celebration into a shared adventure with the people you love most. From laid-back beach days to unforgettable excursions, the Virgin Islands offer group-friendly experiences that allow couples and their guests to connect, explore, and create memories well beyond the big day.
For wedding groups looking to add something memorable around the water, Cane Bay Dive Shop offers experiences that bring everyone together in a fun and relaxed way. Guests can try scuba diving in a pool or calm ocean setting, join a guided snorkel at the famous Frederiksted Pier, or enjoy a private boat charter with options for snorkeling or diving. For something unique, mermaid and merman photo shoots are always a favorite, and sunset charters with wine pairings create a beautiful way for couples and their guests to celebrate together on the water.
For guests who love marine life, Coral World on St. Thomas provides a fun, educational outing that works especially well for families and multi-generational groups. Interactive exhibits and up-close animal encounters give guests something to talk about long after the visit, and it’s an easy way to entertain wedding guests who may be staying for several days.
Rum culture is deeply woven into Virgin Islands history, making distillery visits a natural group activity. A tour at Cruzan Rum offers a classic introduction to the island’s heritage, while Prosperity Distillery provides a more intimate, small-batch experience. These tastings are popular options for welcome events or daytime excursions, giving guests a flavorful sense of place while keeping the mood social and celebratory. With a beautiful patio and large lawn, Cruzan Rum is also an ideal spot to host your welcome party, wedding, or reception.
For couples who want to get out on the water, Stormy Pirates offers half- and full-day charters around the USVI or to the BVI, for those who brought their passports. Seeing the Virgin Islands from the water offers a whole new perspective on the islands’ beauty, and your guests will never forget visiting snorkel sites and secluded A

beaches only accessible by boat. Ocean Dreams also offers custom days on the water, along with private water and land taxis for moving your guests around the Virgin Islands with ease. By thoughtfully choosing a mix of activities, couples can give their wedding guests a true taste of the Virgin Islands. These shared experiences transform a destination wedding into a meaningful group journey that guests will remember just as fondly as the ceremony itself.

Cane & COMMITMENT
A Romantic Farm Wedding by the Sea
At sunset the only sound at Prosperity Farm is the rustle of sugarcane as the wind rushes across acres of green-gold stalks, catching the last rays of light. From the big windows of the old farmhouse, you see waves lapping on white sandy beaches that edge the estate. The sweet scent of sugar cane is mixed by the cool breeze with sea salt; you’ve entered a different world, like none other in the Caribbean. Whether you are planning an intimate wedding or grand affair, there is nothing comparable to this breath-taking rustic setting with its surprising state-of-the-art facilities.
Prosperity Farm and its charming distillery is the brainchild of retired Wall Streeter Bob Apfel, who fell in love with the west end of St. Croix with its gracious fields crowned by a neighboring rainforest, all rolling down to sea. A visionary entrepreneur, Bob started Prosperity Farm with the dream of reviving agriculture in the U.S. Virgin Islands and producing some of the finest spirits in the
tropics. In the spring of 2025, his dream came to life.
One enters the 187-acre Prosperity Farm down a long central drive flanked by great white stone gateposts. In the center of the farm is the imposing 300-year-old farmhouse which was recently transformed into a cutting-edge air-conditioned entertainment center. Combining huge ancient beams with an airy high-tech design, it’s both elegant and informal. At the tasting bar, guests sip fragrant spirits flavored by spices and fruits grown on the farm while listening to jazz or Caribbean music. On special nights, major bands play in the farmhouse’s vast stone courtyard where dinners are hosted under the stars. Bring your cigars!
Above the farm, the ultra-contemporary Henderson Villa surrounded by acres of mature avocado and mango trees offers a luxurious setting for the bridal family. For a true taste of farm life, a dozen more wedding guests can stay in Prosperity Farm’s historic village, with its gaily appointed cottages equipped with modern amenities.
During the day, guests can tour the farm and sample a variety of spirits made in the handsome distillery with its traditional copper pot stills, or stay for drinks and learn the art of mixology. Perhaps the most unique aspect of Prosperity Farm is waking up at dawn to hear the call of doves. Then, grab a cappuccino at the farm’s courtyard café and discover the lesser-known treasures of St. Croix: paths hewn through the rain forest or snorkeling in transparent waters.
Maizie & Corey
JANUARY 18, 2025
aizie and Corey met at veterinary school in Philadelphia and quickly fell in love based on their mutual interests — outdoor sports, music, travel, and adventure. Once Corey proposed, the couple knew they wanted their big day to be rooted in these mutual interests. Virgin Gorda’s Bitter End Yacht Club held a special place in the hearts of Maizie and her family, as her mother had worked on boats and been there in the past, and the waterfront resort hosted a family dinner in 2007 for Maizie’s father’s and stepmother’s wedding.
“While the yacht club has changed considerably in the almost 20 years since I had last been there, the heart of the BVIs remained the same and gave us the perfect wedding week,” says Maizie.
Maizie shares the vendors that helped make their destination wedding unforgettable.
Catering
Bitter End Yacht Club
“All of our meals at BEYC were family-style, and every selection was incredible. Their famous conch fritters were a must-have starter. They were also very accommodating to the guests with dietary restrictions and ensured that they had lots of options available to all.”
In Their Own Words:

The bride’s mother
“My mother is a florist and got approval from BEYC to roam the gardens for flowers and create my bouquet the morning of the wedding. She did an incredible job.”

Sarah B. Swan Photography
“With a five-day wedding event full of adventures and fun, we knew that we wanted a photographer who’d be willing to be part of every aspect. Sarah beautifully and artistically captured all the moments we want to remember forever.”
“The theme of our wedding was watersports adventures,” says Maizie. “All wedding guests participated in a Hobie Cat regatta, meticulously planned by the groom and the water sports team at BEYC. Many guests also partook in the other activities that BEYC had to offer, including kiteboarding, windsurfing, paddle boarding, and more. Another huge bonus was walking-distance access to Sunchaser Scuba, the dive shop at BEYC. For those more inclined to the land, there is a great walking trail with gorgeous views from atop the hill over BEYC. After a long day of activities in the sun, each night had a different event.”
Music
“He did a fantastic job picking songs to fit each stage of the reception, from our first dance to ‘If I Fell’ by the Beatles, to the eventual chaos of ‘Call On Me’ by Eric Prydz in the later hours of the evening.”

Alyssa Brockbank, Bitter End Yacht Club
“We cannot express how lucky we feel to have found her. She listened to all the requests we had for the week and brought them to life exactly as we had pictured it. Alyssa used her creativity and expertise to design perfect events each and every night. She was organized, communicative, calm, and fun. Alyssa truly went above and beyond her average duties for an absolutely perfect week.”

“When we visited BEYC a few months before the wedding, we tried their key lime pie and knew instantly that we wanted it for our wedding. We were saddened to hear that Winston Butler, the pastry chef at BEYC for almost 50 years, passed away just before we arrived, but his legacy clearly lives on in the pastries made by those he had taught and worked with for so many years.”
Island HOPPING
From St. Thomas to Tortola, discover the easiest ways to navigate the Virgin Islands by sea and air.
With eight main islands in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, there is much to see and do in this archipelago. You’ll arrive by air on St. Thomas, St. Croix, or Tortola’s Beef Island. From there, the islands are well connected by ferry boat and air service.
About 46 miles south of St. Thomas, St. Croix is the most far-flung of the area’s main islands. Travel options between St. Thomas and St. Croix consist of a ferry, which crosses open ocean and is not recommended for those with motion sickness, and seaplanes and small airplanes that offer regular service.
St. Thomas and St. John are just three miles apart with regular ferry service that runs on the hour, every hour, provided by Varlack Ventures. This long-standing business also provides rental cars, which are highly recommended, on the island of St. John.
There are many ferry options between the USVI and the BVI including Speedy’s, which connects St. Thomas, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda with regular service. Travelers should note that a passport is required when traveling between the USVI and BVI. Varlack Ventures offers the Charlotte Amalie Downtown Ferry service. The ferry is most convenient

for airport and downtown visitors. They also offer ferry service between Red Hook and Cruz Bay in St John. Varlack also offers car rentals in St .John .You will find affordable prices, reliable cars, and a friendly knowledgeable staff .
If you’d prefer to travel on your own schedule, look into a private water taxi like the service offered by Ocean Dreams, which also offers island tours, day boat trips, and taxi services in the USVI and BVI. Ocean Dreams even offers ferry service from Puerto Rico to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
While ferry schedules are generally adhered to, it’s best to call ahead to verify check-in and departure times, particularly when traveling between the USVI and the BVI. Happy island-hopping!
Alexis & Jon
AUGUST 2, 2025
lexis and Jon were set up by mutual friends, and Jon took the first step by reaching out to Alexis on social media. Busy travel schedules delayed their first date, but phone calls revealed the couple had a lot in common.
“When we finally met, the connection was instant,” says Alexis.
Jon loved Alexis's persistence in asking for a second date, and the rest is history. A cancelled trip to Italy and a broken plane led the couple to the British Virgin Islands and Oil Nut Bay. The hospitality of the people, endless places to explore, and pristine beauty of the BVI inspired them to buy property and build an island home for their family.
“Choosing the BVI for our wedding was easy,” says Alexis. “We wanted to share our favorite places with our loved ones and let them experience everything we love about these islands.”
A Music
Kamau Georges on sax “He was incredible. He connected with our guests and really elevated the entire celebration. We loved the softer, romantic tones during the beach ceremony and the vibrant energy he later brought to the dance floor.”

“Guests staying on property felt genuinely cared for, enjoying every moment of their stay.”
In Their Own Words:
“Our wedding experience in the BVI exceeded our expectations,” says Alexis. “We curated a four-day itinerary that showcased a little bit of all our favorite places and activities. While we were initially concerned about planning from afar and managing the details, our incredible local event coordinators made the process seamless. Having someone in the area with connections and access to local resources was invaluable. Many things simply wouldn't have been possible without our coordinators. Our best advice when planning an event in the BVI: work with a trusted local coordinator who knows the area. It will make all the difference.”
Flowers: Bella Blooms
“From the stunning beach ceremony setup to the gorgeous dinner tables and the flowers, their work was amazing.”

Celebrate love, CRUZAN-STYLE
For couples planning a destination wedding in the U.S. Virgin Islands, finding experiences that reflect the spirit and heritage of the islands can make a celebration even more memorable.
On St. Croix, the Cruzan Rum Distillery offers a blend of history, craftsmanship, and Caribbean hospitality that has been part of the island’s story for centuries.
Founded in 1760 at Estate Diamond, the distillery is one of St. Croix’s most enduring landmarks. Cruzan Rum itself takes its name from the people of the island — Crucians — and remains deeply tied to the culture and traditions of St. Croix.
“Our story is really the story of the island,” says visitor experience manager Bonnie Kuntzler
Visitors to the distillery can explore that story firsthand through guided tours that showcase both the art of rum-making and the island’s rich history. The Aged Gold Tour offers a relaxed 30-minute walking experience through the distillery grounds, where guests see
the rum-making process from fermentation to aging and extraction. Along the way, guides share the cultural significance of rum on St. Croix and the role Cruzan has played in the island’s heritage.
“At the conclusion of the tour, guests head to the Cruzan Rum Sampling Bar for their choice of two mixed drinks from our drink menu and up to four samples of any of our products,” Bonnie explains. It’s the perfect way to toast the island’s most iconic spirit.
For rum enthusiasts, or couples looking for a truly unique outing with their wedding party, the Estate Diamond Experience offers a deeper dive. Beginning with a welcome in the historic plantation-era Carriage House, the immersive tour includes exclusive behind-the-scenes access, including entry into the distillery’s five-column continuous distillation
Guests also sample the distillery’s Cooper’s Reserve straight from the barrel, participate in a sensory tasting comparing Cruzan’s signature flavor to other rums, and receive a keepsake along with a certificate naming them a Certified Cruzan Rumologist.
Beyond tours, the distillery has recently begun hosting private events on the property, offering couples another unforgettable setting for their celebrations.
“We have a beautiful patio to accommodate groups for weddings, special occasion parties, and more,” says Bonnie.
Surrounded by historic structures and lush tropical grounds, the Cruzan Rum Distillery offers a setting that feels authentically Caribbean, perfect for couples who want their wedding celebrations to capture the true flavor of St. Croix. Whether it’s a pre-wedding outing, a postceremony toast, or a festive gathering under the island sky, Cruzan provides a spirited way to celebrate love.

YOUR GUIDE TO A VIRGIN ISLANDS WEDDING
Planning a destination wedding in paradise? From legal requirements to guest logistics, we’ve combined everything you need to know to get married legally, and beautifully, in both the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. Whether you envision an intimate beach-side ceremony or a yacht-based celebration, these islands offer a stunning backdrop for your big day.
Getting Married in the British Virgin Islands
IF YOU’RE PLANNING TO WED IN THE BVI, HERE’S THE CURRENT PROCESS:
You must apply in person at the Civil Registry & Passport Office. Offices are located in:
Tortola: First Floor, Sakal Place, #286 Walter James Francis Drive, Wickham’s Cay, Road Town
Virgin Gorda: Hazel Point Building, The Valley
Documents required include valid passports. If either person was previously married, an original certified divorce decree or death certificate (or previous marriage certificate) is required. Two witnesses must be present at the time of the license application. They don’t have to be the same two who attend the ceremony. Processing time is typically 1–3 business days.
FEES (IN U.S. DOLLARS):
Ordinary marriage license: $120
Special license (for couples in BVI fewer than 15 days): $220
If you choose to marry at the Civil Registry building, there’s typically a $120 room fee. If a civil/marriage officer performs the ceremony, add $220 on top of the license fee.
Once issued, a BVI marriage license is valid for three months. If the ceremony is at a location outside the Registrar’s Office, additional charges may apply including possible ferry fees if the officer must travel to another island. Because of continuing updates, it’s wise to contact the Civil Registry in advance. Email and phone contacts are listed on the official BVI government site.
Getting Married in the U.S. Virgin Islands
HERE’S THE UP-TO-DATE LEGAL ROUTE TO WED IN THE USVI.
Couples can now file their marriage application online. Download the forms from the court website at superior.vicourts.org. Register for e-filing at the official portal and upload your completed application with payment. After submission, a clerk will contact you if corrections are needed. Once approved, you can pick up or download the license.
Alternatively, you may apply in person at the Family Division of the Court on St. Thomas or St. Croix, which remains an option for couples without computer access.
Required information includes for both applicants: full name, age, date of birth, Social Security number, nationality/residency, parents' names and their birthplaces, and previous marital status (with certified divorce decree or death certificate if applicable). Once submitted, there is an 8-day waiting period before the license is issued.
FEES:
Application fee is US $100 (non-refundable), and the license fee is $100. If you desire the ceremony to be performed by a judge of the Superior Court, there is an additional $400 ceremony fee. No physical exam or blood test is required.
Planning Your Destination Wedding
Decide early on the vibe you want — intimate beachside ceremony, resort/hotel wedding, church wedding, or even a nautical ceremony. Both the BVI and USVI offer flexible options depending on your preference.
Book early and give yourself buffer time. You may need to arrive a few days ahead to handle paperwork (especially in BVI, where you must apply in person and processing can take up to three business days).
Prepare your guest list and logistics early. For destination weddings, many couples send “save the dates” 6 to 8 months out, then formal invitations 3 to 5 months before the wedding. Clarify whether children are allowed, “plus one” policies, and travel/ accommodation suggestions.
DESTINATION
WHY THE VIRGIN ISLANDS IS A GREAT WEDDING
Flexibility and Convenience:
USVI’s online system allows couples to apply remotely before arrival, then complete in-person formalities quickly.
Documented and Legal:
Both jurisdictions issue legally recognized marriage certificates. In BVI, the license remains valid for three months, giving flexibility in timing.
Romantic Variety: From courthouse-legal weddings to sunset beach ceremonies or yacht-based vows, both territories offer a wide range of settings.
Caribbean Charm and Scenery: White-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and warm tropical weather are all ideal for a memorable, intimate, or celebratory wedding with friends and family.
Set up a wedding website or information hub for guests. Include travel tips, accommodation suggestions, and local things to do.
Enjoy the moment. Let the islands' natural beauty, Caribbean vibes, and laidback atmosphere shine. Whether you plan a sunset beach ceremony in BVI or a courthouse-to-resort celebration in USVI, focus on what makes your day uniquely yours.

or early-morning departures, which is very helpful should travel plans shift, flights change, or your wedding runs late. Because they offer both ground and sea transfer options, guests don’t need to worry about logistical hurdles, making for a smooth, stress-free experience.
For couples tying the knot in the Virgin Islands, logistics often present one of the biggest challenges. Figuring out how to transport guests or yourselves between airport, hotels, and secluded venues, often scattered across islands, can be as difficult to navigate as planning the big day itself. Ocean Dreams, a reliable company that handles everything from pickup to drop-off, on your schedule, solves this elegantly.
Beyond practicality, there’s romance and adventure, hallmarks of a Caribbean wedding. A water taxi feels like an entrance, a statement: you’re not just arriving, you’re making an entrance by sea. Couples love that sense of arrival and the opportunity to make their day uniquely island-style.
