A MESSAGE FROM MR JOHN LONGLEY As I write this, I am sitting at the College with our Year 2 students as their Sleepover draws towards bedtime. After an evening of activities around the school and enjoying a movie together, the students are snug in their sleeping bags and have just shared bedtime prayers with their teachers as they prepare to settle down for the night. The Year 2 Team have created a wonderful experience for our students. For many, spending a night away from home is a significant step, and opportunities like this help our children grow in independence, confidence and courage within the safety of a familiar community. It has been particularly encouraging to watch students support one another throughout the evening. Thank you to the staff who have generously organised this experience for our students. I am also grateful for the community that surrounds them. Tomorrow morning, senior students will help pack sleeping bags and assist with the morning routine, while a group of parent volunteers will join us to prepare and serve breakfast. There is something special about seeing students, staff and families serving alongside one another. It is good to be in community together!

That spirit of service was also evident on Wednesday afternoon when our Year 6 students presented their Coin Operated Museum of Science, raising funds for Encompass Care. Students “became” influential inventors, scientists and designers, sharing carefully rehearsed scripts with their visitors. Thank you to our families for helping with costumes, practising scripts, visiting the museum and generously supporting the fundraising effort. These experiences remind us that education is about more than what happens at a desk. Whether taking a brave step towards independence, encouraging a friend, sharing our learning or serving others, we are helping our young people grow into the people God has created them to be. PLANNING FOR 2027 As we look ahead to 2027, we understand that family circumstances can sometimes change. If your child will not be returning to Northside next year, please let us know by completing a withdrawal form by Thursday 17 September 2026. This helps us plan well for our classes and College community. Please note that withdrawals received after this date may require a term’s fee in lieu of notice. Families are also warmly invited to request an exit conversation with the relevant Director of Learning or College Principal. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CAST AND CREW OF MARY POPPINS JUNIOR What a wonderful way to celebrate our 2026 College Musical! Mary Poppins Junior was very well attended, and our cast and crew worked together to present a polished and memorable performance. Thank you to our families for the many ways you supported our students throughout rehearsals and performances. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Wiltshire, Mrs Fields and Miss Wallison for the significant work, time and commitment they have given over the past 12 months to bring this wonderful opportunity to our students and College community. A special thank you also to Ms Farrell, who began this journey with us in 2025 and played an important part in bringing the production to life. Events such as our College Musical are never the work of just a few people. We are grateful for the many staff, families and volunteers who worked behind the scenes, supported our students and contributed in so many different ways. 5/6 STEAM OZHARVEST FEAST PROGRAM CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Greetings parents, As part of the 5/6 STEAM program in Term 3 students will be participating in a program called FEAST (Food Education and Sustainability Training) where they will learn about food, food waste, nutrition and develop basic cooking skills. The students are very excited about this unit of work after its huge success last year and are looking forward to learning all new curriculum and all new recipes that they are encouraged to try at home! There will be 5 cooking sessions in total - 4 that will take place every Week A Monday starting 3rd August until the end of term and a 5th session on Friday 11th September. The practical nature of the cooking classes requires additional adult supervision. We are looking for 4-5 volunteers to assist with the cooking sessions each week.
If you are able to assist with all 4 classes you would be required from 10:40am until 3:15pm. Otherwise we would love your help for a 2 hour slot, either with: Year 5s from 10:45am to 12:45pm Year 6s from 1:15pm to 3:15pm DATE: 14th September Continued over page...
During the lesson you will be required to do the following:
Wear enclosed shoes (no thongs, sandals or high heels) and suitable clothing such as long pants and a comfortable top Arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson starting to help set up Lead a small group of 5 children through preparing their set recipes and make sure they are being safe and handling all food properly Monitoring safe food handing and working conditions including; trip hazards (power cords), knife safety and hygiene Electric fry pans must be supervised closely Assist with clean up and re-packing all equipment If you are able to Volunteer, you must have completed the School Volunteer Induction which involves having a current Working with Children Check. Please DM Mrs McDonnell through SEQTA indicating the dates and times that you would be able to help us out. Northside Christian College is excited to launch our very first Inclusive Education Week - a special community awareness week celebrating the unique way God has created each one of us with purpose, value and gifts. Throughout the week, students, staff and our college community will have the opportunity to learn more about inclusion (disability and giftedness) and how we can create a school where everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported to flourish. Wearing Our Uniform Well Across the College, we have seen a noticeable improvement in the way students are wearing their uniform, with significant progress across several year levels. It is great to see more students taking responsibility for their presentation and wearing the NCC uniform well. There are still a few areas where we need to continue working together. Students are reminded that hair must be neat and appropriately presented in line with our College Uniform Policy. Hair that is shoulder length or longer, or that falls across the face, must be tied back. We also ask families to ensure students are wearing the correct College track pants. The NCC logo track pants available through Academy Uniforms are the only approved track pants. Wearing our uniform well is a shared responsibility between students, families and the College. More than simply wearing the same clothing, our uniform helps build a sense of unity, belonging and shared identity while teaching personal responsibility, self discipline and respect for agreed expectations. The Secondary ICT Device Program means that parents no longer need to source their own device. We will provide you with further information about this Program shortly. COLLEGE UNIFORM UPDATE WARDROBE SUITE
The new approach to our uniforms is to have a “Wardrobe Suite”. This means that on cooler days, students can wear warmer uniform pieces, and on warmer days students can wear lighter uniform pieces, irrespective of the time of year. Alongside this, families have received an updated Uniform Policy and a visual Uniform Wardrobe Guide to support clear expectations. As you consider uniform options, please be reminded that the Sport uniform can only be worn on allocated Sport days. Please be advised that the new shirt with the black piping is for girls only.
