A MESSAGE FROM MR JOHN LONGLEY
Thank you to the many families who gathered with us for our Whole College ANZAC Chapel service.
It was a meaningful time of reflection and gratitude, and we appreciated the way our community came together to honour the service and sacrifice of others. As a Christian community, we are reminded of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, and how His example of love and selflessness shapes our understanding of honour.
The stories of the ANZACs continue to inspire us as we reflect on courage, humility and a willingness to place the needs of others before ourselves.
A reminder that we will gather again as a Primary community for Assembly in the courtyard this Monday at 8:40 am, and parents and families are warmly encouraged to join us.
This is a special time where we come together to pray, celebrate our Classroom Excellence Awards, and recognise the many achievements across our Primary School.
Week 3 is shaping up to be an exciting one, with a number of opportunities for students to engage, participate and grow.

SCHOOL LUNCHES
As part of our commitment to supporting safe and consistent routines across the Primary School, we would like to clarify expectations regarding student lunches.
Lunch meals must be ready to eat and should not require boiling water or microwaving. This privilege is reserved for our VCE students as they grow in independence. Due to burns risk and student safety, staff are not permitted to prepare or heat student lunches
We ask that each lunchbox includes a healthy fruit or vegetable option for Brain Food, a recess snack, and a substantial lunch that will sustain students through the day.
Many families choose to preheat meals in the morning and store them in a thermos, allowing students to enjoy a warm meal at lunchtime without the need for reheating.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and wellorganised environment for all students.
PRIMARY ASSEMBLY
Monday 4th May, 8:45am – 8:55am
Parents are invited to join the Primary staff and students in the Courtyard to enjoy Primary Assembly together.
Please be aware that Primary Assembly may be cancelled at the last minute if the weather does not allow us to meet outside.
Photos and videos of the students are not permitted at Chapel or Assemblies to protect the privacy of other students who may appear in the frame.
Please note that parents and pre-schoolers cannot access the Students ONLY toilets during Primary Assembly. Staff and Visitor toilets are located in the Administration Building (near Reception) or on Level 1 in the Middle School Building.
Parents are not required to sign in at Reception for Chapel or Assembly.
Please be aware that students must remain with their class and their teachers during these events.

MOTHERS DAY STALL
Friday 8th May
The Mother's Day stall will be held on Friday 8th May 2026. Students will visit the stall with their class and have the opportunity to buy a gift for their mum, grand-mum or carer-mum.
Gift prices will range from $1 to $10 (cash only).
If you would like to volunteer during the Mother's Day stall please call the College on 9467 2499 or email ncc@ncc.vic.edu.au.
The Reception staff will pass on your details to the Parents & Friends Committee.

VICTORIAN PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE
We have until Friday 4th September 2026 to record all of the books we have read on the VPRC website.
So far we have read 2073 books. This is a huge jump since last week! We are so proud of our Northside readers!

Students in Year 7 next year will need a College-approved device.
The Secondary School ICT Device Program means that parents no longer need to source their own device. We will provide you with further information about this Program shortly Please do not purchase a device for Secondary School.
In response to feedback received from our College community, the black collars on the Sports rugby jumpers have been improved to reduce fading.
These jumpers will be available from Academy Uniforms.
UNIFORM FOCUS
A reminder for families - ties must be worn with long sleeve shirts.
Ties are available for purchase from Academy Uniforms.
The new approach to our uniforms is to have a “Wardrobe Suite”. This means that on cooler days, students can wear warmer uniform pieces, and on warmer days students can wear lighter uniform pieces, irrespective of the time of year.
Alongside this, families have received an updated Uniform Policy and a visual Uniform Wardrobe Guide to support clear expectations
As you consider uniform options, please be reminded that the Sport uniform can only be worn on allocated Sport days.

What is ICAS?
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge theirhigher orderthinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, SpellingBee,and Digital Technologies.
ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.
Your child’s ICAS certificates will show their results and the login details, “TAP ID and Pin”. - Use these to enter the Results Portal (https://orti.icasassessments.com/ortiStudent).
