TERM 1, WEEK 7 | 12TH MARCH 2026

A MESSAGE FROM MR JOHN LONGLEY

Dear Parents and Carers,

As a Christian community, we believe that caring for our bodies and looking out for one another are important parts of learning to live well together. The everyday habits we build around food, health and consideration for others help us live in Unity (one of our Cultural Pillars).

A well-balanced lunchbox helps students maintain energy, focus and readiness to learn throughout the day Each day, students have a short Brain Food / Fruit Break, where they are encouraged to eat a piece of fruit or vegetables. In addition to this, students should have a recess snack and a lunch choice such as a sandwich, wrap, rice or pasta, that will sustain them through the afternoon learning sessions. While occasional treats may appear in lunchboxes, we ask that chocolates and dessert-style foods be limited so that the primary focus remains on nourishing foods that support learning and wellbeing.

For the safety of all students, food is not to be shared between students. Some members of our community live with allergies and anaphylaxis and these precautions help us love everyone. We ask that food be eaten while seated at the picnic tables or bench seating, rather than being carried around the yard. Once students have finished eating, containers should be returned to backpacks before play begins.

Students in Prep to Year 2 are provided time in the classroom to eat before heading outside. From Year 3 onwards, students are expected to eat quickly at the beginning of break time using the seating areas.

Thank you for partnering with us to support healthy habits and a safe yard environment for all students.

God bless you and your family too,

The Wellbeing Barometer survey is an invaluable tool for schools, providing critical insights into the mental health and wellbeing of young people. This annual survey identifies areas of concern, highlights resilience and adaptability in students, and emphasises the importance of preventative strategies to promote positive outcomes.

Participation in this survey is strongly encouraged, as it offers a comprehensive view of students' experiences, challenges and achievements. By capturing a detailed understanding of young people's experiences, the survey supports a tailored approach to enhancing their mental, emotional and social wellbeing. It helps to identify strengths and areas for improvement, as well as pinpoint opportunities for early intervention.

The survey is part of an ongoing longitudinal study and we encourage you to take a few moments to complete the survey for each of your children. Responses remain anonymous and should be based on your observations over the last 12 months. By working together, we can reduce the long-term impact of mental illness and make a meaningful difference to the lives of our young people for a brighter future.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Within our school community there are students who shine brightly, displaying exemplary dedication and academic talent. They deserve to be recognised and this year we are giving them the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their talents in the world-renowned ICAS competition

What is ICAS?

ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge theirhigher orderthinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, SpellingBee,and Digital Technologies.

ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.

Learn more about ICAS here:(icasassessments.com/products-icas/).

ICAS results and certificate

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.

Your child’s ICAS certificates will show their results and the login details, “TAP ID and Pin”. - Use these to enter the Results Portal (https://orti.icasassessments.com/ortiStudent).
