NNSWF – Northern Inland product

The Women’s Football Framework provides a strategic roadmap to grow and sustain women’s football in the Northern Inland region. It was developed from regional workshop insights and surveys and addresses opportunities to expand participation, strengthen competitions, increase visibility and build leadership pathways.

THE KEY PILLARS

Expand opportunities for girls and women at all levels, removing barriers and supporting player pathways from grassroots to elite.

Enhance local and regional competitions to provide consistent, high-quality playing experiences that retain and develop talent.

Raise the profile of women’s football through targeted campaigns, media and celebrating role models.

Develop female coaches, referees, administrators and leaders to ensure a strong, inclusive football ecosystem.

OUTCOME

A coordinated approach that grows the game, empowers participants and positions the Northern Inland region as a vibrant hub for women’s football.

YEAR ONE (Foundation)

n Pilot female “Come & Try” programs such as MiniTillies and Kick-On for Women in two hubs

n Partner and/or link with local school programs and gala days

n Deliver two development workshops such as injury prevention, goalkeeping

PARTICIPATION OBJECTIVE

Increase opportunities and remove barriers for women and girls to engage in football at all levels.

TARGETS (Three years)

n More than 25 per cent female players across all age groups

n At least three new female-only programs

n Annual development workshops in each hub

YEAR TWO (Growth)

n Expand to three to four female-only programs (social competitions, school holiday clinics, MiniTillies)

n Establish annual female community day in each hub

YEAR THREE (Sustain)

n Reach 25 per cent growth in female participation

n Embed female-only programs as permanent offerings in all hubs

COMPETITIONS

OBJECTIVE

Build consistent, inclusive and sustainable competition structures. TARGETS (Three years)

n Female-only junior competitions (under-6s to under-16s) in at least three hubs

n Finals and structured make-up dates in all competitions

n Competitions structure that enables sustainability and growth

MILESTONES & DELIVERABLES

YEAR ONE (Foundation)

n Review senior competitions and timing, deliver a Division A and B competitions in Tamworth and Armidale, including Division A crossover games

n Pilot one extra femaleonly junior competition or program in each area

n Implement standardised competition naming and structures across Northern Inland

n Refine and formalise the senior women’s competition structure based on year one outcomes, potential expansion of cross-zone competition

n Expand junior female competition by one or two locations

n Embed a sustainable, long-term senior women’s competition model across the region

n Support continued growth and competitive balance through targeted competition enhancements and pathway alignment

n A scalable model that supports future growth in women and girls’ participation region wide

Build capacity, equity and sustainability in female leadership, coaching, refereeing and volunteering. TARGETS (Three years)

n More than 25 per cent female workforce (coaches, referees, administrators)

n Equal referee pay across all comparable competitions

n Women’s leadership events or programs each year

n Mentoring and recruitment pathways for female leaders

n Implement equal referee payment policy across competitions

n Recruit eight new female coaches and four female referees through targeted campaigns

n Launch female leadership mentoring framework (linking emerging leaders with senor mentors)

n Recruit additional 10 female leaders (coaches, referees, administrators)

n Provide subsidies for female coach/referee accreditation
