Northern Clay Center Community Guidelines
Northern Clay Center (NCC) is committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for all who wish to engage with clay and expects all students, visitors, and staff to abide by our community guidelines. As members of the ever-growing, ever-changing community of Northern Clay Center, we proudly situate ourselves within an anti-oppression framework of artistic and community practice:
Expectations
All who engage with NCC commit to creating and upholding a respectful environment. This includes, but is not limited to: staff, teaching artists, studio artists, monitors, students, visitors, and volunteers both on and off-site. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or disrespect will not be tolerated.
Practicing Respect
We believe that the ceramic arts are enriched through diversity in all its forms, and we’re committed to creating an equitable space by being actively aware of the intent and implications of our words and actions. Disruptive and/or harmful behaviors interfere with one’s ability to participate and NCC’s ability to conduct positive programming.
Cleaning
Respect also encompasses respect for our facilities. Please clean up after yourself and treat the spaces and equipment with care. Before leaving the studios, make sure that your wheel and/or tabletop area has been thoroughly cleaned of all clay debris. This includes the surrounding floor area, wedging tables, sinks, and doors. Be sure to return any communal equipment to the correct location.
Accountability
If you overhear or witness anyone violating these guidelines, please address the issue directly if you feel comfortable or connect with NCC staff or one of our studio monitors. If you prefer to share concerns privately, please use our anonymous reporting form. Personal information will not be collected. Scan the QR code or visit bit.ly/NCCAnonReporting to submit.

Given our values, we expect all individuals to be receptive to these conversations, actively listen, and communicate openly.
Addressing Violations
Ensuring that guidelines are enforced and respected is vital for upholding NCC's integrity. This fosters a culture of accountability and respect, which are fundamental to the organization's ability to thrive. Guideline violations will be addressed professionally and ethically to ensure trust is maintained amongst us all.
Depending on the severity of the violation, NCC will issue a verbal or written warning, or ask that the individual does not return. No refunds will be given in these instances
