Global CLASSROOM

High school students at Norfolk Christian have a variety of options each year to expand their cultural experiences and serve the global community. Study Abroad trips offer college credit as students are immersed in the rich history of other countries. On performancebased excursions, students share their talents while experiencing the host country’s culture. Service trips allow Ambassadors to create lasting good in under-served communities around the world. Since 2020, NCS students have participated in Study Abroad and global experience trips to Prague, Vienna, Florence, Rome, Madrid, and New York City, with upcoming trips planned to London and the Czech Republic. Service trips have included Nicaragua, Jamaica, Mexico, Vietnam, Ecuador, and South Africa.

Choosing a college is a different journey for every student. At Norfolk Christian, our College Counseling team is deeply invested in helping students discover and meet their unique college goals. From course planning to college exploration to bolstering their college resumes, our individualized counseling approach helps students achieve their optimal college plans, with 90% of NCS seniors being accepted to their first choice schools. Norfolk Christian students are regularly admitted to elite and highly selective colleges and universities, including large state universities, small liberal arts colleges, Christian colleges, art colleges, and military academies, as well as Ivy League and Public Ivy League schools. Since 2020, NCS seniors have enjoyed acceptance to 42 schools ranked on U.S. News & World Report’s Top 50 Best lists.

The American EXPERIENCE
O
One of the most-loved parts of Norfolk Christian’s International Student program is the tradition of living with host families.. Host families welcome visiting students into their homes and make them part of the family, sharing life and giving them an authentic view of the American experience. Many of our host families maintain relationships with their international students for years after they return home, and often remain friends with the entire family! Host families are chosen carefully and must go through an application and interview process, background check, and homecheck.

Work hard, play hard. After putting maximum effort into succeeding in their classes, we offer countless opportunities for students to enjoy their Ambassador community. Sports teams, performing arts ensembles, special interest groups and service clubs are some of the activities Ambassadors enjoy outside of school hours. along with favorite traditions like the Homecoming game and dance, Prom, class trips, spirit weeks, worship nights, and packing “The Den”, student section at games.. From the classroom to the stands and everywhere in between, high school at Norfolk Christian is an unforgettable time of making lifelong friends and memories, as students prepare for their futures.

Norfolk Christian offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to participate in the arts. From choruses, bands, drumline, and strings to theater, studio arts, and digital arts, our Fine and Performing Arts program has a place for every student to develop skills and show off their talent. The annual spring musical, visual art showcase, and winter and spring concerts are favorite NCS events that bring in the whole community.

Annual Tour of AMERICAN HISTORY International Program Trips Each year, international students take a trip to a major US city to experience its rich history and culture. Sightseeing, dining, visiting museums and historical landmarks are all part of these trips that bring American history to life. Recent international student trips have included visits to New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Boston.

Succeeding at Norfolk Christian Individual Academic Support International students have a team of administrators, educators, and counselors making sure they’re fully-equipped to excel while they’re away from home. Individualized assessments and accommodation plans help us place each student in the best courses and give teachers a customized path to help them succeed. Intensive ESL support ensures they’re mastering English, and navigating assignments and testing with ease. Our full-time International Director is dedicated to their academic, social, and emotional growth as they acclimate to American life and culture.
