Fall is the perfect time to explore Sarasota County’s “City on the Gulf,” as Venice is currently in the midst of its 18-month centennial celebration. Known for its beautiful beaches and variety of outdoor activities, Venice was officially incorporated as a town in July 1926 and became a city in May 1927. Visitors can learn more about its early development at the Venice History Museum, which features 1,400 square feet of exhibit space detailing everything from famous city planner John Nolen to some of the fossils found in Venice. Guests can also check out the Old Betsy Museum next door, which houses the city’s first fire engine: a 1926 American LaFrance pumper. Venice is widely recognized as the shark tooth capital of the world as well, with black shark teeth frequently found at the water break line at area beaches like Venice Beach and Brohard Beach. Certified divers can even go scuba diving with a local scuba diving charter like Fossil Junkies to search for prehistoric megalodon shark teeth. The city is recognized as a Trail Town by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Greenways & Trails, too. Sarasota County’s scenic Venetian Waterway Park Trail connects to the Legacy Trail at the Historic Venice Train Depot, creating almost 23 miles of uninterrupted trails for bicyclists and pedestrians to explore. The Ocean Race gets ready to make its St. PeteClearwater debut in 2027 By Heather Turk
Mark your calendars, as “the Everest of the Seas” is heading to St. Pete-Clearwater for the first time next spring. From May 4-16, the world’s most accomplished offshore sailors will be in St. Pete-Clearwater for the only North American stopover of The Ocean Race. Often described as the longest and toughest professional team sporting event in the world, The Ocean Race challenges elite sailors to circumnavigate the globe while racing through some of the planet’s most remote and demanding waters. The Ocean Race begins next January in Alicante, Spain, where teams of four sailors — including at least one woman per team — will race off on IMOCA 60 monohull sailing yachts for the longest leg in the race’s history: 14,000 nautical miles to Auckland, New Zealand. Then, they will race to Itajaí, Brazil, before heading to St. Pete-Clearwater, eventually continuing on to Cascais, Portugal, and finishing in July at AMAALA in the Red Sea. Along the way, teams will gather important data that scientists otherwise wouldn’t have access to, with each sailboat carrying specialized instruments that measure water temperature, salinity and microplastics to help scientists understand ocean health.

Regardless of one’s age, travelers visiting the Fort Myers area this Halloween season will find several fun ways to celebrate the most spook-tacular time of the year. On Oct. 23, Halloween fans of all ages are invited to spend a Boo-tanical Evening at Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs. The after-hours event not only features Halloween-themed decorations, activities and photo opportunities throughout the 3.5-acre botanical garden and zoo, but also lets visitors see Wonder Gardens’ rescued, rehabilitated and non-releasable animals — including alligators, parrots, flamingos and otters. While it may be home to a bustling city that never sleeps, New York is also renowned for its access to nature, with several parks, forests, mountains and preserves all within a relatively short drive. As autumn arrives to color the trees, there’s no better time to take a day trip to the wilder side of New York. MOHONK PRESERVE New York’s largest nonprofit nature preserve is situated only 90 miles away from the Big Apple. Protecting the Shawangunk Ridge, the Mohonk Preserve is home to over 70 miles of trails and carriage roads. Dramatic vistas await those willing to traverse the Undercliff-Overcliff Loop. The hike is entirely on historic carriage roads: wide, level paths that can accommodate hiking, running or cycling. stronger Taking Teamwork Building teams through friendly to the Next Level competition At Allegiant, bringing people together is at the heart of everything we do. While we connect our passengers with the places they love to visit, we also believe in creating meaningful connections among our team members. That’s why we created our Sports Program, giving team members the opportunity to form local sports teams and represent Allegiant in their communities. It’s one of the many ways we bring people together and strengthen the culture that makes Allegiant a great place to work. MAKING WAVES IN FLORIDA For over a decade, our St. Pete-Clearwater, Fla., (PIE) team has headed to Treasure Island Beach for the annual SportsFest competition. During SportsFest, up to 200 companies from the area come out and compete against each other in different sports challenges, including volleyball, dodgeball, cornhole, tugof-war and a relay race. Best of all, they get to spend the whole day at the beach! For Flight Attendant Melissa, SportsFest has become an annual tradition. As she celebrates 10 years with Allegiant, attending SportsFest remains one of the highlights she looks forward to most each year. The event gives her a chance to reconnect with coworkers, meet new team members, and enjoy a day of friendly competition by the water. This year also marked a first for Pilots Chuck and Tycho. After 10 and 12 years with Allegiant, neither had attended SportsFest 68

before. After joining the competition, they quickly discovered what makes SportsFest such a fun company tradition, and they’re already planning to compete again next year. THE CHAMPIONS OF LAS VEGAS Hosted by the City of Las Vegas, Corporate Challenge is a three-month competition where companies compete across dozens of athletic events. Corporate Challenge has become a cherished tradition for team members in Las Vegas, NV (LAS) and at our HQ campus. Every event earns points toward the overall championship, and this year was one for the history books. After three months of giving it their all, Team Allegiant claimed 1st Place overall in our division, bringing home the championship trophy for the very first time. One of the standout moments came during Track & Field, led by Team Captain Andrea, a program manager at Allegiant. Team members dominated this event, leaving the competition in the dust with a 130-point lead. Some team members hit the track for the 800-meter run, while others tested their strength with a softball throw. No matter which event it was, they came out undefeated. After an incredible season, Team Allegiant came together to celebrate their championship victory and plan for another successful year ahead.

CHILD RESTRAINT SEATS
Federal Aviation Administration requires that all child restraint seats used on planes meet federal safety standards. Acceptable seats bear proper labeling “THIS RESTRAINT IS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT" from the manufacturer. Unlabeled seats or seats manufactured before Jan. 1, 1981, are not acceptable. Child restraint seats are to be placed into a window seat and secured with an aircraft seat belt.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS ONBOARD
Seat belts must be fastened ANY TIME the seat belt sign is on, during taxi, takeoff and landing. Once the seat belt sign is turned off, you may walk around the cabin. Due to unexpected turbulence, it is strongly recommended that you keep your seat belt fastened any time while in your seat. Allegiant’s exit seating policy does not allow the use of seat belt extensions in the exit seats due to tripping hazards.
The use of small cameras or mobile devices for photography and video is permitted onboard provided you keep the purpose of your photography and video to capturing personal events. Photographing or recording other customers or airline personnel without their express consent is prohibited. Airline personnel reserve the right to prohibit photos and videos onboard the aircraft if it becomes a disturbance to them or other passengers.

Allegiant is forbidden to serve alcoholic beverages to anyone who appears to be intoxicated or who has not yet reached the age of 21. It is a violation of federal regulations to drink alcoholic beverages during a flight unless they have been served by Allegiant personnel.
Smoking, the use of other tobacco products, e-cigarettes and other similar smoking devices are not permitted on any Allegiant flight. Federal law imposes fines of $1,000 for smoking and up to $2,000 for any attempt to disable an aircraft smoke detector.
