New Orleans Auction’s July 27-28 Estates Auction features the contents from a rich chapter of one of America’s important historic homes, Solana, an architectural masterpiece perched high above idyllic Montecito, California. When Solana was restored in 1999, it was furnished with antiques and fine art from every continent, reflecting the grandeur of the sprawling estate. The auction also features furniture and decorative objects from the Estate of Marjorie F. Shushan, an award-winning interior designer whose projects spanned from Aspen to Palm Beach. Her work has been widely published and landed her a coveted spot on Architectural Digest’s annual list of top 100 interior designers numerous times. Shushan’s estate includes items from the collection of her mentor, Kalef Alaton, a design world icon. The two-day sale also offers a selection of fine jewelry, watches by Rolex and Patek Philippe, a rare and important American etagere attributed to J. & J. W. Meeks and a collection of Impressionist paintings.
