Northern Kentucky Young Professionals (NKYP) is a program of the NKY Chamber that strives to create opportunities for young professionals (YPs) in the region to connect with peers, enhance their professional development, and impact the community.
NKYP is part of the NKY Chamber’s focus on talent attraction & retention, and key talent strategy to support regional goals to ensure the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati metro region has the YP talent needed to grow and compete at a national level.
NKYP is focused on:
• Expanding professional and social networks for young professionals;
• Connecting young professionals with quality programming and events to support growth & development;

Jay Kruz is the afternoon host on Mix 94.9. You may have seen Jay on the ice at Heritage Bank Center as the longtime in-game host for the Cincinnati Cyclones. In addition, he is the host and travel writer of the Jet with Jay blog for CVG Airport - encouraging people to get out and see the world from our fabulous airport. He’s been to 29 states and more than 30 countries with Cambodia, Spain, Peru, Malta, Estonia, and Belize being a few of his favorites.
You’ll also find Jay in the community high-fiving survivors at the finish line of the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and hyping up climbers at the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb.
Jay is grateful to have served on the board for six years at Brighton Center and was a decade-long volunteer, board member, and past president at Music Resource CenterCincinnati. He enjoys playing hockey, guitar, fly fishing, and spending time with his family.

Hailey Barr-King is a Greater Cincinnati native, but brings her six years of experience in D.C. to her role at United Way of Greater Cincinnati where she leads policy and advocacy efforts on behalf of the organization. She holds a master’s degree in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s in political science from Miami University. Outside of work, Hailey enjoys reading, caring for her century home, and watching TV with her husband and their two cats.

Josh Tunning was raised by his grandparents in Burlington and moved to Newport during college, where he has lived ever since. He earned both his bachelor’s in political science and master’s in public administration from NKU, where he also served as Finance Chair in Student Government. Josh has worked on several political campaigns and community initiatives, including four years as a community organizer at Brighton Center and most recently as Executive Director of Newport. He now serves as the Municipal Specialist for the City of Newport and is passionate about advancing equitable development that benefits the entire community.

John Willis serves as the Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Newport, where he leads initiatives to attract investment, support small businesses, and strengthen the city’s commercial corridors. He plays a key role in projects such as the Newport Entertainment District, business and development incentives, and the revitalization of the Purple People Bridge. A graduate of William & Mary, John studied Government and Data Science, combining policy insight with analytical skills that now inform his work in local economic development. Outside of his professional role, he is an active member of the Newport Business Council and a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters.


Cherish Ludlow is the Director of Sales and Marketing at Embassy Suites Cincinnati RiverCenter. Originally from California, she brings energy, adaptability, and a passion for hospitality to her work. She’s actively involved in community and women’s leadership groups, including Aimbridge Women Excelling and the GFWC.

Hillary Long has over a decade of experience in event venue management and brings a strong background in operations, logistics, and hospitality, along with a passion for creating inclusive and welcoming spaces. She is deeply committed to community engagement and nonprofit leadership, volunteering her time to support local initiatives and advocate for underserved communities. Outside of work, Hillary enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and spending time with her husband and their adventurous young daughter.

Nick Wade is a Kentucky native who grew up in central Kentucky. Nick currently serves as a Campaign Manager at ArtsWave, where he fundraises to support over 150 arts organizations and artists in the Greater Cincinnati region. Before his time at ArtsWave, Nick spent eight years in community development, focused on revitalizing historic downtown commercial districts. When not working, Nick is an adrenaline junkie, a horror movie fan, and a serial hobbyist. His hobbies include gardening, baking, and sewing.
Dr. Eileen Shanahan is a Department Chair and Associate Professor of Literacy in the College of Education at Northern Kentucky University. She began her career as an eighthgrade language arts teacher and then served as a middle school curriculum and literacy coordinator. Her professional interests include creating access to higher education and teaching English to create a more equitable and just world. She is also a mom to Declan and Maura, wife to Liam, and a school volunteer.

Katie James, MSSW, LSW, serves as the Human Services Administrator for the City of Florence, where she leads community engagement initiatives and oversees programs supporting vulnerable residents. With a strong background in social work and program development, she is dedicated to building partnerships that promote access, equity, and well-being across the region. Beyond her professional role, Katie has spent more than 18 years coaching youth sports and currently serves as the varsity cheerleading coach at Randall K. Cooper High School, where she fosters leadership, confidence, and positive culture among student athletes. She is passionate about empowering individuals and strengthening communities through service, mentorship, and collaboration.

Paige Nieporte is an experienced Business Education Teacher with two undergraduate degrees from Thomas More College and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University. In addition to teaching, she coaches volleyball and sponsors various clubs and organizations. Through teaching, Paige has had the opportunity to make an impact and meet the evolving needs of both her students and colleagues.


Jordan Smith, PharmD, is the founder of Medicinlogic, a concierge pharmacist service in Northern Kentucky focused on improving medication access, education, and empowerment. She pioneered a new model of pharmacy care through personalized services such as medication reviews, pharmacogenomic-guided therapy, and preventive health screenings. Jordan serves on the Kentucky Pharmacists Association Board of Directors and national American Pharmacists Association committees and has been recognized with the APhA Immunization Champion Award for Individual Practitioner.

Chef Katelyn Kleist, CEC, PCC, is the Executive Chef and Owner of Kate’s Catering and Personal Chef Services in Dayton, Kentucky – a boutique caterer specializing in customized culinary experiences for weddings, corporate events, and fundraisers. She also serves as a full-time Culinary Arts Instructor at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State, where she mentors the next generation of culinary professionals. A Certified Executive Chef and Personal Certified Chef, Katelyn is actively involved in the American Culinary Federation, serving as Treasurer of the Greater Cincinnati Chapter.

Madeline Martini leads Network & Platform at Cintrifuse Capital, a $200M venture fund and startup hub fueling growth across Greater Cincinnati. She’s built the systems, programs, and partnerships that support 30+ venturebacked companies, connecting founders with talent, expertise, and community to accelerate scale. Before joining Cintrifuse, she drove growth at Bumble, Lime, and Built In, helping global teams expand their reach and impact. A Northern Kentucky native, Madeline returned to the region in 2023 after several years in San Francisco and Chicago, bringing national experience home to help make Greater Cincinnati a model for innovation and collaboration.









Emily North is the Marketing & Internal Communications Manager for The Christ Hospital Health Network and a visionary leader behind elevating its Heart & Vascular Institute as Greater Cincinnati’s Heart Hospital. She leads communications for 6,500+ team members and drives strategies that have fueled patient growth, enhanced physician visibility, and advanced the goal of becoming a nationally ranked Top 20 program. A Cincinnati Business Courier 40 Under 40 honoree, Emily is also the 2025 Greater Cincinnati American Heart Association Woman of Impact Winner and Finance Chair and Board Member for Healthy Moms & Babes. She was selected by Mayor Ron Washington and his team to join the highly competitive inaugural Covington Mayor’s Academy. Emily loves her Mainstrasse Village community, where she and her husband are raising their young family, and she is passionate about building stronger communities and shaping the future of Northern Kentucky.
Molly Wheeler is an accomplished marketing and communications professional with over a decade of experience spanning manufacturing, aerospace, and healthcare industries. Currently the Marketing & Communications Manager at Gravity Diagnostics, she has led both internal and external communication strategies, driving culture, engagement, and brand alignment during a period of rapid organizational growth. Her previous roles at General Cable (now Prysmian) and Rhinestahl Corporation strengthened her expertise in strategic messaging and stakeholder engagement. A passionate community leader, she serves on multiple regional boards and committees (The Carnegie Theater, Kappa Delta – Eta Eta, Regional Youth Leadership, Leadership Northern Kentucky) and is dedicated to making Northern Kentucky a vibrant place to live and work. As a mom of three, she is driven to create lasting impact both inside and outside the workplace.
Rudy Harris is the driving creative mind behind Harris Media Co. Turning early setbacks in his career into a thriving creative content studio, Rudy has set his company on the course to tell impactful stories filled with authenticity and community connection. His style to lead his team is firmly grounded with honesty and genuine care for people, shaping the company’s distinctive identity and continued success.
Brad Bolte is an innovative healthcare leader with over a decade of experience in clinical operations, organizational development, and education. He leads strategic initiatives that elevate employee engagement, enhance patient care, and foster a culture of continuous learning. Brad is recognized for driving measurable improvements in satisfaction, operational efficiency, and leadership development. He is passionate about mentoring emerging leaders and advancing community health and education.

Brittany Leigh Sorrell, DNP, RN, is the Manager of Workforce Development at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, where she develops and implements strategic initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain a qualified healthcare workforce. Her extensive career at St. Elizabeth includes roles as a Clinical Education Specialist (2016–2019) and a Registered Nurse Team Leader (2014–2019), where she led campus-wide educational initiatives and provided nursing leadership. Brittany holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and a Master of Science in Nursing, Education, both from Northern Kentucky University. Recognized for her dedication to education and organizational advancement, she was named St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s Nurse Educator of the Year in 2019 and serves as an Adjunct Professor at NKU in the Nursing department.

Danae Brown is a physical therapist with 14 years of service at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. She blends clinical expertise with a strong leadership background to champion exceptional patient care and cultivate a positive, engaged workplace culture. Danae is passionate about empowering others – both within her organization and throughout the Northern Kentucky community – through mentorship, advocacy, and service. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and staying actively involved in local initiatives that make a meaningful impact.





Angela Hagedorn is passionate about helping businesses of all sizes thrive – from start-ups to third-generation companies – offering guidance on everything from conventional loans to SBA navigation. Her clients often describe her as family, as she celebrates their milestones and supports them through challenges. Outside of work, Angela enjoys traveling with her husband and children, exploring places like Yellowstone and Acadia, but no matter where she goes, Northern Kentucky will always be home.
Hank Heidrich received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business. He is a certified financial planner® professional, and has been in the financial services industry since 2017. He is deeply engaged in the Northern Kentucky community, serving as a board member for Easterseals Redwood, Class President of Leadership NKY Class of 2023 through the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, past chair of the Northern Kentucky Young Professionals and current board member of the NKY Chamber. Hank lives in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, with his wife and two children. And for a unique bit of trivia… he once entertained fans as Mr. Red, the Cincinnati Reds mascot.
Jimmy Beatrice, a third-generation member of the Beatrice family, joined Business Benefits in 2015 as an Account Representative to build a strong foundation in the healthcare industry. After graduating from Thomas More College and gaining early experience with insurance while working at Kroger Pharmacy, he transitioned into a Benefit Advisory role in 2017 to serve businesses across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. Known for his industry knowledge, dedication, and responsiveness, Jimmy is a trusted advisor and active community leader, serving on multiple NKY Chamber committees and as Vice Chair of the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky.
Tyler Blau is a lifelong Northern Kentuckian, raised in Walton and now residing in Covington with his wife Allie and their two children, Hudson and Georgia. A proud graduate of the Haile College of Business at Northern Kentucky University, Tyler is a CPA and Senior Manager at Deloitte Tax, where he specializes in serving privately held businesses and their high-net-worth owners. Outside of work, Tyler enjoys staying active through golf, basketball, pickleball, and running, and finds great joy in coaching his kids in a variety of youth sports.

Carlos Ruiz, A.A.E., IAP, is the Director of Commercial Management at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), overseeing over $90 million in annual non-aeronautical revenue across parking, concessions, ground transportation, and rental cars. He has led major concession redevelopments, introducing local favorites like Skyline Chili, Frisch’s Big Boy, and Braxton Brewing, and implemented innovations including parking reservations, dynamic pricing, BusGenius shuttle tracking, Vohnt car care, and the CVG Airport Library. Carlos holds a B.A. in Aviation Management from The Ohio State University, an MBA from Tiffin University, and the A.A.E. and IAP professional designations. He is actively involved in the aviation community, serving on the ACI-NA Commercial Management Steering Group and mentoring students through the Ohio State University AAAE Student Chapter.

Justin Beale is an experienced nonprofit leader with over a decade of success in development, fundraising, and community impact. He currently serves as Director of Development for Meals on Wheels of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky, where he leads major gift fundraising, grant strategy, and a $30 million capital campaign. Previously, Justin held roles with St. Vincent de Paul Cincinnati and Welcome House of Northern Kentucky, where he launched innovative programs and secured major funding to support vulnerable populations. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Homeless and Housing Coalition of Kentucky and is committed to advancing housing stability and social equity across the region.

Lauren Allhands has 15 years of experience in workforce development, post-secondary education oversight, and corporate operations management, and holds a bachelor’s degree in social science from Southern New Hampshire University. She is a passionate workforce development professional with expertise in operations management, contract compliance, and data analysis, providing leadership that empowers teams to deliver service excellence to those working to achieve their hopes and dreams.







Aaron Drake is a Process Engineer at TENTE Casters known for his technical expertise, positive attitude, and strong leadership. An accomplished professional with 10+ years of progressive experience in injection molding operations, process optimization, and technical leadership within a world-class manufacturing environment, he is recognized for driving continuous improvement initiatives, developing robust scientific molding processes (RJG Decoupled Molding), and mentoring cross-functional teams to elevate quality, reduce waste, and increase throughput. Aaron is passionate about innovation, data-driven decision making, and cultivating a culture of precision, safety, and reliability, while fostering teamwork and leading by example across the production floor.

Madalyn Reller is the Marketing Director for Arlinghaus Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electric, where she leads brand strategy, creative development, and community partnerships across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. With over a decade in service-industry marketing, she’s recognized for turning local causes into brand-building opportunities – like Arlinghaus’ collaboration with the Karen Wellington Foundation throughout the year and St. Vincent de Paul NKY’s Summer Breeze Program. Madalyn’s leadership has earned Arlinghaus multiple awards, including Leadership Team of the Year and Adsposure’s Biggest Impact Award for creative transit design. She’s passionate about using marketing as a force for good – to make homes and lives happier.

Mark Steller is a 4th-generation member of Flottman Company and currently serves as Assistant Estimator. Since joining the family business in 2022, he has gained hands-on experience across multiple roles, including Quality Control, Press Operations, Prepress, and Cutting Operations, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the printing process. He holds an MBA from UC’s Lindner College of Business and a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management (Summa Cum Laude), and previously spent nearly a decade in hospitality management leading teams at properties like Hyatt Regency Cincinnati and Hilton Garden Inn. Mark is passionate about preserving his family’s legacy while driving innovation and growth, leveraging his combination of advanced business education and operational experience to bridge the company’s storied past with its promising future.



David Kay Fifth Third Bank, Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky
The NKYP Legend Award is presented to an individual that was an active young professional leader in the Northern Kentucky/ Greater Cincinnati metro region, and who has continued to inspire leadership and career success among YPs throughout their career.
David Kay is a Vice President and Commercial Banking Relationship Manager at Fifth Third Bank and has been in banking for 19 years. He drives growth for Fifth Third’s Commercial Banking across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, focusing on Healthcare, Government, Public Finance, and the Middle Market. The Commercial Group’s primary responsibility is to act as a Trusted Advisor to Bank customers helping to facilitate growth, maximize cash flow, enhance profitability, optimize capital structure, and mitigate risk. Beyond his work with businesses, he is deeply involved in the community, serving on executive boards and championing initiatives that strengthen regional economic development and leadership.
David is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a marketing and operations management degree. He also graduated from Thomas More University, Cum Laude, with a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
