Karur Stampede

On 27th of September 2025 , at Southern Karur district the TVK(Tamilnadu Vetri Kazhagam) Party held a political rally, reportedly 41 people have died due to a Stampede and 51 people have been admitted in the hospital in the Intensive Care Unit When I woke up on Sunday to this news , I could not understand what was happening I think I was in shock and I immediately wanted answers to a million questions that rose in my head . I think it was my 25 year old brain and hormones being out of bounds while my blood was boiling ,upon hearing the updates regarding this incident .
On the 28th of September 2025, I was seeing there were a lot of responses from anyone and everyone who had access to social media to take sides and stick with that side . Namely three sides
1 The TVK Party Supporters ( Vijay Fans) + (Conspiracy Theories)+(Blaming the Govt)
2. The DMK Party Supporters (Justifying Governments actions) +(supporting the Police Department)+(actual reports from parents and Karur people regarding the Incident)
3 The rationalist ( not taking sides but trying to analyse what should or shouldn't be happening in that situation)
This information was overloading in my brain, and I was getting too emotional and was about to break. I was focusing only to respond rationally , I wanted to hear from the TVK Leader Vijay I waited to hear from him before coming to a conclusion
And finally , on the 30th of September 2025 , after nearly 3 days since the most gravest incident had happened in our state , Vijay released a video Excusing the lack of volume in the video, I listened and I listened It was nothing that all of us hadn't already expected But what else can one possibly say in that situation? Everything was clearly being readed out from what his PR team had curated for the past 48 hours But the last statement he made in the video , roughly translated to :
“ CM Sir , if you have any thought of taking REVENGE, Do whatever you want to me , Don't keep your hands on my fans and/or my party members. I will be at my home or my office. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO ME Friends , our political journey will keep moving forward with more strength and courage “
These words made me feel disgusted and strangely sent shivers down my spine I guess I saw a Dystopian Future , of a time IF at least TVK comes into power Also , those words coming out of his mouth made me realise what his crystal understanding of the entire situation was. He is more than well aware of the devotion that his fans and party members have towards him ! This kind of performative dialogue is more than enough for his followers to inflict immense amounts of violence and hatred amongst the community And disrupt the communal harmony
And , as irresponsible he was at the political rally (fan meet up not showing up on time ) , he took time to get a hold of himself and still ended up spreading violent thoughts in his followers heads throughout this Video , by aiming to be sympathetical and portraying himself as the “the lone saviour” from the “evils of the current ruling government” , for the problem that was solely inflicted by him and his Party
Finally , I have witnessed the first hand portrayal of POLITICAL PERFORMANCE
Cinema is the most powerful form of communication currently , then comes our social media Actor Vijay has conquered the Cinema world and most of us swoon over him no matter the gender and age This is what makes the current situation a scary one This seems to me as though his followers were hypnotized by the image of “VIJAY” every single day of their lives , by the movies, the songs and the social media content with him in it . And they lost their control as a human when he showed up in front of them , flesh , blood and all To portray a fantasy , it's like in Hindu Mythology , suddenly God appeared out of thin air; the devotees were mesmerised and stunted in his glow and were in ecstasy This is not an exaggeration but sadly the reality of their mental state
And this is why , I believe that a Person(Vijay) , a Former Actor turned Politician , who has this unconditional ,scary , non judgemental amount of devotion from his followers, should not be allowed to run for the state election .
His party should be disqualified immediately and the TVK political rally should be stopped as soon as possible . For the reason of if he is of unsound mind and stands so declared by a competent court
Amongst his followers ,
● There were youths who thought it was okay to bring kids to the Rally
● There were men and women who thought it was okay to wait for a human (Vijay), who showed up 7 hours later than the time announced , under scorching heat without water, food and shelter , in an area that could clearly not hold them
Let me put it straight , in another Universe where he did not hypnotise so many youngsters , who lose their rationality and judgement when he enters a space, exists He can run for the election there in that Universe .
But not now, and not here!
If he does get to run in the election and he continues to do his political rally , lets guess what could be the possible outcomes
● As soon as the announcement for the next rally comes , more followers will try to come there to show Vijay “ their support “ not to get demotivated and encourage him to keep pursuing his dream of becoming the CM of Tamil Nadu (Which has become evident from his video , that he has not started a political party to work for the community but for the sole purpose of him winning in his story (He is a man who has everything this world
could offer , fame , money and also a Doctorate The last thing that he has not acquired is Power , and in our world it comes from becoming the CM of this state)
● Another uncontrollable mob of youngsters and kids,without Rationality and Judgement will gather in a space that cannot hold that number.
● Another 40, maybe even 50 lives lost as name sake for one person.
I do not stand for that. I call for a Motion now!
If the left wingers and Liberals still keep looking down upon him as a leader , not a political one but just the Leader of his fans , it will be a very careless speculation. He might not have the knowledge of how to run a State, but he has followers who are ready to go to any extent with just a simple nod from him , or less just to be able to see him in person Vijay is more than well aware of that power he has. And , this is a serious issue now! Rather than calling them out for their irrational , barbaric behaviour We need to figure out a way to put out the fire caused by these irrational people. You and I having rational thought and being separated , just commenting about the issue , them being irrational but sticking together in that insanity has great differences
We should come together to make sure that the TVK Party is disqualified and VIjay is not allowed to run for the coming Election This is to protect our people and protect our state As a well educated , rational being from the land of Periyar, if we let something like this incident “accident” happen again, we are completely accountable for it. We need to do something right now!
It could even be 10 people that each one you can talk to spread awareness , do not keep to yourself Please start talking with them , we need to take care of our state and our people It is our sole responsibility and duty.
