General Information & Sale Notes Location: The Sale will be held at the Borderway Mart, Rosehill, Carlisle, Cumbria situated close to the M6 Junction 43. Motorists (from north or south) should leave the Motorway at this Junction and turn west towards Carlisle on the A69. The Mart is within1/4 mile of the Motorway (filter left at the traffic lights) on the Rosehill Industrial Estate. Method and Order of Sale: All animals will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order unless any alteration is authorised and announced by the Auctioneers. Conditions Of Sale: The sale is held subject to the Auction Sale Rules of HUKI and the Auctioneers General Terms and Conditions of Sale, both available on request. Settlement And Clearance Of Stock: Settlement in full is due to the Auctioneers immediately at the conclusion of the Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official PASS, obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement and all stock should be cleared from the sale premises on the day of the sale. Commissions: The Auctioneers will faithfully execute commissions to purchase on behalf of buyers unable to attend the sale in person upon receipt of written notice and instructions received in their office not later than 48 hours before commencement of sale. Foreword The dairy herd at Stubb Farm was established in 1984, this well managed productive herd is milked twice a day through a 16x16 Fullwood parlour. The herd grazes during the spring and summer months and during the winter are cubical housed and are fed a grass based TMR with additional feed in the parlour. The cows are almost all home bred and are all year-round calving. At the last recording the cows were averaging 31.5kg per day, butterfat was 4.40% and protein was 3.37 with an average somatic cell count of 166. The Genus Mating Program has been used for the last 10 years with the resulting progeny being uniform with impressive udders, strong legs & good feet. The herd has been bred with functional conformation in mind to produce cows with longevity and vigor, whilst aiming to maximise total kilograms of fat and protein. Bulls who have been influential in the establishment of the herd are Wa-Del Junction, Bomaz Homestead, Moet Melody, with the better younger animals being bred by bulls such as De-Su Topsy, Farnear Alfalfa & Rosylane Spock. The service sires are again a result of the Genus Mating Program with a strong emphasis on breeding robust long life cows and include the following bulls; Aardema Impact, Bomaz Skywalker, Zandenburg Art & Het Ken Gray. The herd health and herd fertility are managed in conjunction with Capontree Vets who attend the farm on a weekly basis. Please see letter from Capontree Vets.
Herd Health The herd is vaccinated for IBR, BVD & Lepto. The herd was last vaccinated for BVD & Lepto in January 2021. The milking herd and older heifers are vaccinated with Rispoval IBR Live vaccine in August 2020 and all youngstock are vaccinated at between 3 and 5 months of age. Johnes testing is carried out using NMR milk tests. The farm is situated in a four year testing area and the last herd test was in July 2020.
