Conditions of Sale Breeding stock are offered for sale under the National Beef Association’s standard terms and conditions of sale and both purchasers and sellers are advised to acquaint themselves with the breeding warranty claim time limits. Copies of this warranty are available from the Auctioneers. Attention is drawn to the following point: If it is found impractical to try the female fairly within the time limits stated, due to the purchaser’s normal calving programme, the purchaser shall (at the discretion of the vendor), ON THE DAY OF THE SALE, or within the next seven days, give the auctioneer notice in writing of the month in which it is proposed to commence using the bull/running the heifers with the bull. LEVY OF 2% TO THE LUING CATTLE SOCIETY. THE SALE WILL BE CONDUCTED IN POUNDS.
CATALOGUE The Owner of each Lot is the Breeder unless otherwise stated. “L” before the Herd Book number indicates Pedigree Luing Male. “P” indicates Pedigree Luing Female. “A” indicates Appendix “A” Female. “B” indicates Appendix “B” Female.
Registered Sim-Luings (indicated by “C” before the herd book number) are out of pedigree or A-grade Luing cows, sired by a registered Simmental bull.
HEALTH INFORMATION The Luing Cattle Society was the first to run a BVD-safe sale with its Premier Sale in February 2007. Since 2010 all official Luing Cattle Society Sales, including this one, are run under the same health rules and are therefore BVD-safe. To qualify for this, all stock must come from herds which are members of a CHeCS accredited health scheme (for this sale all herds are in one of the SAC Premium Cattle Health Scheme or the HiHealth Herdcare Scheme) and are either BVD accredited free or the sale stock have tested negative for the virus. Additionally all stock forward are double-vaccinated against BVD. For herds testing for Johne’s, you will notice new Risk Level categories are displayed; these are defined as follows: Status Risk Level 1 Risk Level 2 Risk Level 3 Risk Level 4 Risk Level 5
Level This is directly equivalent to the previous CHeCS Accredited Free status. Level 1 status is associated with the lowest risk source when buying in stock. Health plan required. Herds with level 2 status have had one or two clear consecutive herd tests. Health plan required. Herds with level 3 status have reactors identified at the annual herd test, but these are no more than 3% of animals tested. Health plan required. Herds with level 4 status have reactors identified at the annual herd test, and this amount to more than 3% of the animals tested. Health plan required. Any herd that is not carrying out the required testing or does not have a suitable health plan in place falls into this category. Level 5 status is considered to be the greatest risk source when buying in stock.
