VIEWING: The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at the market on Friday 30th October from 4pm to 7pm and on the morning of the sale. PERDI &FLOCKS KNIGHTON Welcome to the Perdi and Knighton dispersal sale. It is with great sadness that we find ourselves in the position of having to put these beloved flocks forward for sale. Percy Tait has been known for breeding, selling and showing sheep for some time. Throughout the years he has kept many breeds of sheep along with cattle, donkeys and horses. It seems anything he turned his hand to often turned to gold and with an eye for a bargain, Percy was known for turning an animal that others may have overlooked into a prize winning asset. That made him one of the sharpest stockmen around in our eyes. Most of you will know us from the numerous years we have been working with Percy, some 32 years combined. The Perdi flock of Bleu du Maine sheep was founded in 1989. Over the years the flock has fluctuated massively in numbers, while always retaining the true Perdi characteristics. Correct sheep with tremendous colour, conformation and skins have always been the aim. Throughout its history the flock has somewhat dominated both the show and sale rings. The second Perdi flock is the Bluefaced Leicesters. Percy first joined the society in 1987, however, the total flock was later sold to Brian Dallyn. The flock was then re-established in 2014. Although small in numbers it is big in quality. Under the Knighton prefix are the Charollais and Rouge flocks, with the first Charollais lambs born in 1994. Since then the flock has enjoyed many successes. Pride of Knighton was one of the major success stories, taking many championships along with interbreeds at The Royal Welsh, The Royal and The Royal Highland Shows. Over the years the flock has enjoyed unparelled success, being extremely competitive in the show and sale rings in recent years. The Knighton Rouge flock has developed in to a tremendous group of sheep which has grown in size and taken on any breed it has come across in interbreed championships, bringing the Rouge breed as a whole to the forefront. We wish you all happy, safe bidding and hope that the animals forward for sale will go on and produce for you as they have done for us; not just top quality sheep, but many happy memories. Will Price & Jan Williams Flock Health Status: • The flocks are all MV accredited and every animal will also have a scrapie Genotype. • They are all on the Heptavac P Plus system, the ewe lambs had their autumn booster, on the 08/10/2020 along with all of the rams. • Everything was plunge dipped in Golden Fleece sheep dip 10/09/2020. • All stock were fluke drenched with Endofluke 28/09/2020. • All homebred stock had a Scabivax scratch at birth. First scanning took place 15/09/2020. Second scanning took place 03/10/2020. Service Details - The Bleu du Maine, Rouge and Charollais rams were removed from the ewes and gimmers on 31st August. The Beltex rams were then put with the Bleu de Maine, Rouge and Charollais ewes and gimmers from 31st August as sweepers and anything marked with purple raddle will have been tupped by the Beltex.

He was shown in 2017 winning the interbreed championship at Staffordshire County Show and male champion at the Royal Highland Show.

In our eyes this ram has made a massive difference to the Perdi flock.

He was shown successfully as a shearling and aged ram and won accolades including breed and reserve interbreed champion at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Brian, as he was fondly named, turned into another square ram with tremendous bone, length and a great head. Sire: Ballyhibben Paddy Power Dam: Kingsland 0 XJS 9009 Purchased as a ram lamb from the NSA Builth Ram Sale 2011. He had great length, backend and skin. By Ballyhibben Paddy Power he matured into an enormous ram that went on to be a great show ram winning many older ram classes at the Royal Three Counties, Royal Highland and the Royal Welsh Shows.

He was shown lightly with successes including class wins at North Somerset, Staffordshire County and Great Yorkshire Shows. He was sold at the Worcester Premier Sale 2018 for 950gns.
