General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The Sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING: The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Thursday 2nd August from 4.00pm to 7.00pm and the morning of the sale. Prior Inspection of the sheep is most welcome by appointment with the vendors (see page 1). HOTELS: There are many hotels within the area, ranging from four star to excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a list of which may be found on page 4 of the catalogue. CONDITIONS OF SALE: Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the market, recommended by the Livestock Auctioneer’s Committee for England and Wales. The Pedigree and Description of each lots are believed to be correct. METHOD OF SALE: All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. TRANSFERS: A transfer fee of £5 per sheep is payable by the purchaser and paid to BTSS. COMMISSIONS: The auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of sale. No animal may leave the sale premises without an offical ‘pass slip’ obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement. MAEDI VISNA: The Nantyderri Flock is MV accredited. Foreword I wish to extend a warm welcome to you all today on my first ever production sale. The Blue Texels on offer are bred for quality, tight skins, conformation and breed characteristics. Nantyderri Blues were established in 2012, purchasing the best sheep with super bloodlines trying to breed the best. Embryo transfer is a big asset in the Nantyderri flock, breeding from the best females. Showing has been very successful, winning many championships, including Overall Champion Royal Welsh Show and the Three Counties Show. Sales have also been good, winning Overall Champion Carlisle 2016 which was also the highest priced ewe lamb and still is to this day. 8 of her full sisters will be offered for sale. I intend to keep my flock small and to continue improving by using embryo transfer. The entire 2016, 17 and 18 crop of females are being offered for sale, some with super bloodlines. Nantyderri Blues also aims to produce good, tight skinned commercial rams which are sold locally. All sheep are on the Heptavac P system, the two year olds and gimmers are vaccinated against Enzootic abortion and Toxoplasmosis. All sheep are available for direct export to Northern Ireland. A big thanks must go to David Fearon, Heather Pritchard and all the team at Harrison and Hetherington. My main thanks must go to Aled Groucott, Chris Davies and everyone which has helped prepare the sheep. Reference to Sires: Whatmore Walnut: Whatmore Walnut was purchased from Worcester for his tremendous carcass, length and breed characteristics. Over the years he has produced excellent quality offspring, selling to a top price of 3800gns. His progeny have done very well in the show ring, and would be very recommended to all Blue Texel breeders being very correct and well marked.
WHATMORE WALNUT Hackney Xtrovert: Hackney Xtrovert was purchased from Carlisle, winning Overall Champion. He is a ram with perfect teeth and legs with a super carcass. He has been shown very successful, his offspring are super carcass sheep which will go on and breed well.
