GENERAL INFORMATION

The sale is held under the auspices of the British Charollais Sheep Society and all sheep will be sold subject to the Rules and Conditions of the Society. Copies are available from the Society or Auctioneers and will be displayed at the sale. All sheep to be sold singly.

ALL FEMALES offered for sale are warranted not to be in lamb. Should the situation arise that a ewe proves to be in lamb at the time of the sale, then if within fourteen weeks after the day of the sale a female sheep warranted not in lamb as aforesaid proves to be in lamb and within sixteen weeks after the day of the sale the purchaser gives to the autioneers written notice supported by a certificate signed by a veterinary surgeon such female sheep has been proved to have been in lamb then if the sheep lambs naturally at a date which proves it to have been in lamb at the date of the sale either the purchaser may return the sheep and her lamb if any to the Vendor or at sole option of the Purchaser the Vendor shall pay to the purchaser as and for ascertained and agreed liquidation damages to cover all expenses depreciation in value and other damages whatsoever a sum equal to 25% of the purchase price of the sheep.

The sheep are from MAEDI VISNA ACCREDITED AND SCRAPIE MONITORED FLOCK registered with the SAC Sheep & Goat Health Scheme.

Where Charollais quality meets commercial power

After a lot of soul searching I decided to call it a day and sell the entire adult portion of the Edstaston flock. Ewe lambs to be sold next year.

This sale constitutes 40 years of breeding where there have been highs and lows – fortunately more highs than lows.

I have tried to breed ewes and rams that will flesh up naturally without needing too much hard feed and I think that now there is a consistency in the flock whereby all of the sheep will do a good job for you which comes from several years of careful breeding.

I have been very privileged to have owned some great sheep over the years and I like to think I have bred the odd good one as well.

We have made many friends over the last 40 years all over the world and we are very appreciative for all the help and guidance we have had from fellow breeders. It is with great reluctance that we are going ahead with this sale but I am sure the sheep won’t let me down and they will go on and breed well for their new owners.

EXPORT

Unfortunately it does not look like export will be possible of live sheep from the sale – a problem that has severely hampered the business in the later years and the cause of a lot of frustration.

To date we have exported either live sheep, embryos and semen to the following countries:Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, Hungary, Spain, Romania, France, Germany and Southern Ireland.

I have been approached by one or two to see if I would be prepared to look after some of the ewes and flush them for embryos for export and I am more than happy to do this as long as I don’t have to lamb them.

Some of the stock rams that are jointly owned with Sercombe Sheep will still be available for semen collection and sales in the future.

Assistance will be given as to delivery of sheep after the sale.

HEALTH

All sheep have been vaccinated with Bultavo 3 on 10.03.2026. Batch No. 515432A. Expiry dated 03/27

Females have also been vaccinated against enzootic abortion and toxoplasmic abortion as yearlings.

All sheep have been dipped with a product for scab at the end of May. All sheep have been inspected.

He has bred well for a large number of flocks producing many high priced sheep and several high profile show winners both in the U.K. and Mexico where a daughter out of Edstaston Oceania 14TG00340 won the supreme Champion Charollais female in 2021.

Artemis is sired by the 9,000 Euro Duiske V Man and comes from the same maternal line as the 7,500 gns Tullyear ewe sold in 2020 at the Tullyear production sale. Artemis son Edstaston Bad Boy 23TG01391 sold to David Roberts Boyo flock. Two daughters 24TG01436 and 24TG01456 sold for £3,000 each to Boyo and Fursdon flocks of David Roberts and Will Whiting.

Early reports from New Zealand, Canada, Mexico and Northern Ireland are that his lambs are lean with plenty of growth, muscle and looks. He is a full brother to Edstaston Best Bar One 23TG01316 who sold for 4,400 gns to Will Whiting Fursdon flock at Worcester Premier Sale 2023.

Sire is Dalby Ancelloti 22PE10661 Index 359 who was purchased for 4,000 gns at Worcester Premier Sale 2022.

Dam is the great breeding ewe Edstaston Wasabi 20TG00977 Index 390 who is a daughter of the renowned Knockin Shockin 17XXJ00376 Index 353.
