General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The Sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on the evening prior and the morning of the sale, or prior viewing of the sheep is most welcome by appointment with the vendors (see page 7). CONDITIONS OF SALE - Sold under the conditions of sale as recommended by The Livestock Auctioneers’ Association. Annan Flock
ENTIRE MATURE PORTION ANNAN FLOCK G K JAMIESON The Annan flock was established in 1973 with an imported ram and 2 gimmers from the Robert Depernet flock. Further imports in 1976 from R Tardieu and Sabras gave the foundations and descendants of these animals have been hugely influential in the flocks continued success over the years. Annan Jaguar, Oscar, Powerline, Royal Gold, Masterpiece, His Highness, Winner, Won o Won, Ygorra, Blondin all derive from these bloodlines. It is these bloodlines that appear in the histories of many of the leading flocks today. Stock rams were selected for their character, depth of flesh and gigot, traits that are important in the Texel breed and ones I continue to use in present day. Influential rams included, Annan Double Diamond, Annan Grand Champion, Muirfoot Irwin, Turin Keepsake, Talbot Northern Light, Midhill Othello, Freeford Park Ranger, Turin Union, Milton of Noth Sir Allan, Tinwald Yorkie, Kerse Buster, Baltier Wizard, Muiresk Comrade, Craighead Dynamite, Mushroom Valhalla, with more recent usage of Procters Vagabond, Knock Yardsman and Procters Crackerjack. The flock has been extremely successful over the years in both the show and sale rings, not only through the pedigree world but in the primestock shows as well. In 1988 we won the Supreme Pen of Champion live lambs and the Supreme Champion lamb carcase at the Royal Smithfield Show. This was only the second time this amazing double feat had been achieved in the history of Smithfield. Annan sired stock have reigned supreme at the Royal Shows for numerous years and have won all the major Championships. In the sale ring the Annan flock has always been one of the leading flocks in the country. In the late 80’s, early 90’s we were always at the top when it came to averages at the Lanark Premier sale selling ram lambs to average the following: in 1987 over 1400gns, 1988= 1600gns, 1989=2900gns, 1990=2200gns, 1991=1550gns, 1992=3700gns &1993=3820gns In 1988 we sold 80 Texel’s to average £1000 In 1993 we sold 70 gimmers to average £1425 In 1996, 20 lambs sired by Annan rams averaged over £3000 In 2001 during foot and mouth we lost our entire flock of 699 Texel’s as part of an exclusion zone. It was devastating to lose our sheep, but I decided to restock with our own bloodlines and was lucky enough to repurchase JKA98 207, a Craighead Dynamite daughter from Tom Cornthwaite. JKA98 207 was a sister of 2 outstanding gimmers I lost in the cull. It was an invaluable purchase as JKA98 207 has been the most dominant breeder in the flock to date. Half the present ewes have her in their pedigree. Stock was also purchased from Mick & Jean Gould, Woodmarsh and Colin Ponting, Penstone.

Over time I built the flock back up and have successfully sold gimmers at the Christmas Stars Sale with a top price of 7000gns in 2007, 5000gns in 2008, 6500gns in 2009, 11,000gns in 2010, 6000gns in 2018. A gimmer sold to J Innes of Strathbogie Texel’s in 2009 for 3500gns went on to breed 48,000gns Strathbogie Untouchable, 20,000gns Strathbogie Upping the Ante and 10,000gns Strathbogie UFO. Private sales of gimmers have also been successful. JKA08 043 has been extremely influential in the Procters flock. Most recently in the show ring JKA18 0754 (LOT: 457) in the sale was Interbreed Champion at Northumberland Show and in October 2019 we received the award for Champion flock in the Solway & Tyne flock competition. Unfortunately, the time has come where I must ‘act my age’ and reduce my workload. The next generation has two dairies to run therefore I have made the difficult decision to disperse the adult portion of the ewes since I am not as fit as I used to be. I have been honoured and privileged to have been part of the Texel breed from the very beginning and I am hugely indebted to my late wife Margaret for all the help and support she gave me for all those years. I would not have been able to do it without her. Thanks also must go to my son John, daughter Helen and families. Special mention must go to Hamish Currie who has been a great help to me during these last few years, also Jeff, Jennifer, Katie and Robbie Aiken who have helped with the preparation of the sheep forward for the sale. To help you make the right decision for your business, we’ve highlighted the essentials we think are important. This summary does not contain the full terms and conditions of this insurance policy, so you should read your policy documents carefully, to make sure it meets your needs and that you understand any limitations. You can ask your local NFU Mutual agent for copies of the policy documents.

OUR LUCKPENNY POLICY Selling your livestock isn’t always straightforward, so anything that can encourage buyers to purchase livestock from you is useful. This policy can help protect highervalue breeding stock you sell from events such as accidents or disease. Your NFU Mutual agent is on hand to work closely with you to identify and manage these challenges. Please be aware that we will notify the relevant breed society before paying a claim under this policy. YOUR OBLIGATION TO BUYERS OF YOUR LIVESTOCK You must give a copy of this document to anyone who buys livestock from you that is covered by Luckpenny Insurance, so they are aware of the cover provided by the policy and any conditions.

WHAT LUCKPENNY CAN COVER YOU FOR WHAT IS COVERED
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
• Death or slaughter on humane grounds of an insured animal within 3 months of ‘fall of hammer’ on the day of the sale, resulting from: - an accident - illness or disease • This includes the pregnancy and parturition risk for female livestock • The price paid for the insured animal, up to £150,000.
• Injury sustained, or illness or disease that first appears, before cover starts • Theft, straying and mysterious disappearance • The value of any semen or ova extracted from the animal for artificial insemination or embryo transfer • Money received if the buyer sells the deceased animal • Slaughter for economic reasons or because the animal is incapable of performing its intended function • Slaughter on the order of the authorities or under the rules of a disease eradication scheme.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PAYING THE PREMIUM You can pay your premium by cash, bank transfer, cheque, and debit or credit card. WHEN DOES THE COVER START AND END? Your policy will run for 3 months from the fall of the hammer. The start and end date of your insurance cover will be stated in your policy schedule. CANCELLING THE CONTRACT You’ve taken this insurance to benefit purchasers who buy animals from you. In agreeing to take this policy, you’ve accepted its terms and conditions, and therefore cannot cancel the cover. GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITS This policy covers you in the UK, Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, unless your policy documents say otherwise.
YOUR OBLIGATIONS All insurance policies include terms and conditions, which you need to comply with. You’ll find these in your policy documentation, and we’ve provided a summary here: 1. Pay the premium, and tell us about any incidents that may lead to a claim as soon as possible. 2. Take reasonable steps to avoid loss or damage. 3. Tell us of any changes affecting the risk you’ve insured. If you’re unsure whether we need to know about a particular change, tell us anyway and we’ll let you know if it affects the risk.
