A private security firm will be in attendance to assist H&H in ensuring social distancing is observed wherever possible • Strictly no private videoing/broadcasting on Social media, or phones etc in the pens or ring • If you are unable or do not wish to attend the mart but would like to bid on animal(s), then the auctioneers will faithfully execute commission bids for buyers. RULES FOR SHOWING & SELLING TIMETABLE OF EVENTS: Thursday 13th August Friday 14th August

Arrival of Stock 4pm - 7pm Arrival of Stock 7am - 8am Buyers Viewing Period 8am - 10am Sale â€“ 10am

1. All pedigree sheep sold at official society sales to be sold in Guineas 2. Commissions will be charged at the rate of 5.25% on all pedigree sheep sold together with a 2% Society levy 3. The Auctioneers will pass from sale any animal not receiving bids to the value of 150 guineas. 4. All sheep will be identified with tags hung around their necks. Vendors are responsible for taking their sheep to the sale ring and returning them back to the pens after being offered for sale. 5. Sheep will only be accepted into the Market and penned for sale if they are accompanied by a current SAC Certificate of Official MV status, which has been correctly completed. 6. There will be no physical examination of individual sheep, but Council members retain the right to examine any animal that in their opinion fails to reach the recognised breed standard. The decision of the Council to carry out this inspection shall be final and binding and they shall be absolved from any liability for any action taken as a consequence of their decision. The Council members can only judge the sheep on the day of the sale and cannot be held responsible for the future development of the sheep. 7. The use of growth promoters is banned by the Society and they reserve the right to random test any sheep offered for show or sale. The vendor will be responsible for the correctness of identity and all sheep must have official ear tags. The Society reserve the right to scan any animal, provided two Society officers are present and a report submitted. Buyers shall have one hour following the end of the sale to lodge any faults or misrepresentations to the auctioneers. 8. Any female that has been subjected to abdominal surgery (laparoscopic AI, embryo transfer or Caesarean section) must be so declared in the catalogue and must physically capable of breeding again. 9. All rams to be warranted stock-getters and prove to be capable of natural service. If the ram is proved to be infertile or incapable of natural service, the purchaser has 14 weeks

to submit to the Auction company a claim substantiated by a veterinary surgeonâ€™s certificate. The V.S. certificate shall certify that the rams incapacity or ineffectiveness is not the result of injury, accident or illness happening after the time of sale. It shall also certify that the purchasers female breeding stock have been found, on examination, to be in normal breeding condition and that they are not responsible for the ramâ€™s incapacity of ineffectiveness. The purchaser shall have the option of, either, a refund of the purchase price or, accept a replacement of similar quality. If the vendor so wishes he shall be entitled to have access to the ram for a veterinary examination. If a settlement is not reached then an independent arbiter shall be appointed by the Auctioneers and his decision shall be final. The transport costs, veterinary fees etc., involved in returning stock to the vendor must be borne by the purchaser. All male sheep to have two correct testicles. No rigs or chasers to be shown or sold. It must be declared if a vendor has retained semen from a ram before offering it for sale. 10. All sheep must be forward for penning at the times as laid out in the catalogue. Sheep arriving after these times will be disqualified from the sale. 11. Any animals in the sale premises which are sold by private treaty after the auction are subject to the full commission and levy on the price realised and all such transactions must be passed through the auctioneer. 12. The use of hair removing substances is strictly forbidden. Health & Safety guidelines should always be adhered to regarding the use of dips, which should only be used in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. 13. Faces & legs may be washed but may not be artificially coloured in any way. In dedicated Bleu du Maine classes and sales the use of colourless oil is permitted. 14. No lambs to be born before 1st January. If born before this day they become shearlings on the 1st January and must be registered with the appropriate year letter 15. The purchaser must satisfy himself as to the soundness and correctness of his purchase within one hour of the conclusion of the sale. Any rejected sheep are not sold under Society rules and are sold as seen. 16. Transfer Registrations will be dealt with by the Society 17. Substitute sheep will be allowed provided they are clearly identifiable and are shown in accordance with Society rules. 18. A sale can only be described as dispersal where every registered sheep belonging to that flock is offered for sale. Further, the flock name will be thereafter terminated and cannot be resurrected by the present holder or used by any other member or future member. However, the Council retains the right to grant re-use of the flock name on consideration of special circumstances. Reduction and dispersal sale sheep are to be sold at the end of the appropriate sections. A reduction sale may be inspected. 19 ERRORS OR OMISSIONS. Neither the Auctioneers or the Society can accept responsibility for any errors or omissions. 20. The vendor will be responsible for the correctness of the identity of all sheep.

Look what the Bleu du Maine can do for you ... The pure bred ewe is an enthusiastic mother who will produce an excellent lambing percentage of around 200% in a commercial flock. The ewe has a wide pelvis which is great for ease of lambing in the current climate of high labour costs. The breed is widely recognised as having an abundance of milk & the lambs are very lively at birth & are on the feet & keen to suckle very quickly. Pictured below is an 8yr old ewe, a prolific show winner and a great example of the longevity of the breed. The Millennium Bleu has been a great success story for the breed. The MB is the product of crossing the Bleu with a Beltex and the lambs benefit from the cross bred vigour, have good skins with improved conformation coming from the Beltex sire, whilst retaining the well recorded attributes of the Bleu ewe with her excellent mothering abilities, prolificacy and plenty of milk.

1 All Pedigree Sheep to be sold in guineas. 2 There will be an ‘Upset Price’ as follows - shearling and older rams and females 250gns, lamb rams 200gns, ewe lambs 180gns. 3

Commission will be deducted at the rate of 5.25% on all pedigree sheep sold.

4 Any animal in the Sale Premises which are sold by private treaty after the Auction are subject to the full commission on the price realised and all such transactions must be passed through the Auctioneers. 5

Transfer of registrations will be dealt with by the Society.

All sheep will be identified with tags hung around their necks.

7 Sheep will only be accepted into the market and penned for sale if they are accompanied by an official Certificate of Official MV Status which has been correctly completed. This Certificate must be handed in when the animal/s arrive at the market. 8 All sheep forward for sale will be subject to an inspection by the society inspector. If a sheep fails inspection the owner has the option to pay £20 for an appeal. This will be to the Chairperson, the appeal panel (as per Society) decision will be final and any animal failed will be removed from the sale and forfeit any entry fee. 9

No sheep to be presented while suffering from any contagious disease.

10 The vendor shall be responsible for the correctness of identity, and all sheep must have official ear tattoos or tags and also be tagged in accordance with the relevant ministry regulations. Buyers shall have one hour following the end of the sale to lodge any faults or misrepresentations to the Auctioneers. 11 The purchaser must satisfy himself as to the soundness and correctness of his purchase within one hour of the conclusion of the sale. 12 All sheep must be presented for inspection before being penned for sale between 8.00am and 10.00am on day of sale. All sheep will be subject to an inspection.

13 Please note - A representative will be on duty to collect and inspect all Maedi Visna Certificates. 14 Any 2 shear or older female offered for sale must have had lambs registered with the Society during the previous two years, and must be correct in the udder. 15 All sheep to be sold in the appropriate class and in the owner's flock group. 16 The Classes will be: i) Shearling Rams; ii) Lamb Rams; iii) Shearling Gimmers; iv) Ewe Lambs 17 Sheep represented at Sales at one year old or older must be shorn bare after the 1st January and before being presented at their first show of the current season.

Rouge lambs are not to be faked in any way by carding comb, shears, etc., except to tidy up head, throat and chest, square tails and take long ends off under the belly and around the legs. NO OTHER PART OF THE LAMB MAY BE TOUCHED.

Hair on faces and legs may be removed and the faces and legs may be washed and or lightly dressed with colourless oil, but may not be artificially coloured in any way. The use of hair removing substances is strictly forbidden.

18 All male sheep to have two correct testicles. No Rigs or Chasers to be shown or sold. 19 No lambs to be born before 1st January. If born before this day they become shearling reaching the 1st January and must be tattoed with the appropriate letter. 20 One vendor is responsible for taking their sheep to the sale ring and returning them to the pens after being offered for sale. 21 The Purchaser will not be entitled to a claim for consequential loss as a result of infertility or any other reason. 22 Errors and Omissions. The Auctioneers CAN ACCEPT NO responsibility for any errors or omissions printed in this catalogue. 23 Substitute entries will be accepted at this sale, but all information must be with the auctioneers one week prior to the sale day. Substitutions will be restricted.

The warranty in Condition 42.1 (a) is an After Sale Warranty and the warranty in Condition 42.1 (b) is a 14 + 5 Day Warranty.

42.2 Purchaser’s rights

If the Purchaser proves a breach of warranty then, at the Purchaser’s option, either he may exercise his rights under Schedule 6, or the Vendor shall pay to the Purchaser as Liquidated Damages a sum equal to 33.33 per cent of the purchase price of the sheep concerned. If other sheep had been sold in the Lot the compensation payment shall be calculated on the basis of the average price per head of all animals in the Lot.

Stock rams

43.1 Vendor’s warranty The Vendor warrants that any ram sold as a stock ram for the amount in paragraph (j) of the Appendix or more is capable of natural service. This warranty is a 10 Week Warranty. 43.2 Purchaser’s rights If the Purchaser proves a breach of warranty the Purchaser may return the ram to the Vendor who shall, at the Purchaser’s option, either replace the ram with another ram of equal value which is capable of natural service, or refund the purchase price together with such other costs and charges as the Purchaser may be entitled to under these Conditions.

For the avoidance of any doubt if the Purchaser is able to obtain viable semen from the ram for use by artificial insemination he shall not be entitled to any claim against the Vendor for breach of warranty.

Notice of a claim must be supported by a Veterinary Surgeon’s Certificate confirming that:

a) the ram’s inability incapacity or ineffectiveness is not the result of injury, accident or illness happening after the time of the sale; and

b) the Purchaser’s breeding stock are not responsible for the ram’s inability incapacity or ineffectiveness.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES HARRISON & HETHERINGTON LIMITED NOTICE TO ALL VISITORS AND TRADERS PLEASE READ AND OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING

AUCTIONEER’S TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE (Incorporating the Auctioneer’s Terms and Conditions ) 1.

The biddings to be regulated by the Auctioneers and the highest bidder, subject to the Vendor’s reserve (if any), to be the purchaser. No bid shall be retracted and if any dispute should arise between two or more bidders, the Lot in dispute to be put up again and resold, or the Auctioneers may determine the dispute at their own discretion and their decision shall be final. The Auctioneers reserve the right to refuse the bid of any person without being called upon to give reason for such action.

Although it is the visitors and traders responsibility to ensure that plant, equipment and systems in work are safe, Harrison & Hetherington Limited reserve the right to ask any visitor or trader to leave the market for any breaches in the Health and Safety Rules and/or Regulations.

The Purchaser to give his full name and dwelling place and pay for all Lots purchased immediately at the close of sale. No Lot or Lots shall be removed from the sale premises until paid for and a pass-out slip obtained from the Auctioneer’s clerk but each and every Lot shall immediately at the fall of the hammer be considered as delivered and be and remain in every respect at the absolute risk and expense of the respective purchaser or purchasers thereof and shall be removed from the sale premises at the purchaser’s expense. The right of property shall not pass until the full purchase price is paid.

Vendors must inform Harrison & Hetherington Limited of any livestock due to attend the market whose temperament, behaviour or condition may call for additional precautions for its safe handling.

Purchasers paying by cheque must be prepared, if required, to produce a banker’s reference. As a result of the Money Laundering Regulations (2003) the auctioneers are unable to accept cash payments in excess of nine thousand pounds sterling for any any single or linked purchase transaction.

When loading or unloading livestock handlers must ensure that the dock and vehicle gates are securely fixed so as to prevent the escape of animals.

All statements in the catalogue, or made by the Auctioneers at the time of sale, also the correct identification of the animals, are the entire responsibility of the Vendors. The Auctioneers take no personal responsibility for the correctness of such statements or identities.

All statements in the catalogue, or any made by the Auctioneers at the time of sale relating to any veterinary or other tests are to be taken as statements of fact only. No such statements shall guarantee the purchaser of any animal against loss arising from the subsequent reaction of such animal to any test administered after the sale and the Vendors shall not be liable in any way should this occur.

All stock is sold subject to the Conditions of Sale recommended for use at markets by the Livestock Auctioneers’ Markets Committee for England and Wales except in so far as these conflict with any Special Conditions applicable to the sale of pedigree stock, when the latter Conditions shall prevail.

Neither the Vendors nor the Auctioneers will be responsible for any accident or injury to persons or property, through fire or any other cause whatsoever, nor for any damage by animals prior to, during or after the sale.

No undertaking by the Auctioneers or their servants to take charge of any Lot or Lots after the sale or to forward them to their destination shall be held to impose upon the Auctioneers any legal obligation or vitiate any of these Conditions.

Inasmuch as the Auctioneers act as agents for a disclosed principal they shall not be considered personally responsible for any default on the part of either purchasers or Vendors and the remedy shall be against them only and not against the Auctioneers.

If these conditions are unfulfilled, the Vendors or Auctioneers shall have the power to resell the Lots, retaining any surplus and charging any deficiency and expense to the defaulter.

All visitors and traders on site will be responsible for ensuring that they and their employees or sub-contractors engaged by them comply with all legal requirements, including the Health and Safety At Work etc., Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety At Work Regulations, The Provision And Use of Work Equipment Regulations, etc. All visitors and traders will be responsible for ensuring that their operations in no way affect the integrity of the company or its fire, safety or security arrangements and in no way compromise the health and safety and welfare of other visitors to and or employees of Harrison & Hetherington.

Traders are responsible for providing and maintaining suitable livestock handling equipment. They should ensure that livestock handlers are fit, experienced in livestock handling and familiar with the livestock in their charge. Children must not be permitted in any area where they may be at risk from livestock or machinery. In the case of bulls, during the period when the show/ sale is open to visitors, bulls in stalls or pens should not be left unattended. If the handler is temporarily absent, arrangements should be made with another vendor, steward or member of Harrison & Hetherington staff to oversee the bull until the handler returns. Handling of Livestock at shows and sales: Harrison & Hetherington Limited recommend that an adult person should accompany any junior person during the showing/ sale of livestock in the ring and reserves the right to intervene at any point if, in the company’s opinion, the person showing the livestock is at risk in undertaking that activity. Passageways must be kept clear at all times during the auction sale. PLEASE DO NOT STAND IN THE SALE RING ENTRANCE AND EXIT PASSAGES. The auction ring man escapes and refuges must be kept clear at all times. All portable electrical equipment supplied and/or used by visitors and traders must be safe and fit for the purpose and should have a valid portable appliance test certificate.
