BioRevolt Speculative bio-integrated design for UCL Bio-ID Application task 1 & 2
If current trends continue, the global population will peak at 11 billion in 2100. City population will increase more than rural areas. By 2050, it is projected that more than two-thirds of the world will live in urban areas. Migration from rural to urban and the population growth causing dense and rapid urbanization. Istanbul is one of the metropolitan cities which has a similar trend. Due to the incautious actions of urban and regional planning city was filled up with cold concrete boxes and named a “dwelling”. //2//

Since the earliest times of our race’s evolution, nature was an object of fear. Due to the supremacy and danger of the environment, we seek protection and found it in the cave. As we evolve, our view of nature does not change. We came out of the bunker, but everywhere we went we constructed our new “rational/synthetic caves”. It is time to embrace nature and learn to live with it. BioRevolt is a speculative project about how habitat can be grown and located in the center of Istanbul, on the border of the Golden Horn. Its growth starts from the public space and proceeds with food from the scattered structures in the surrounding area. As it grows, it creates semi-enclosed areas where several organisms can cohabitate.
