One evening Jesus and his disciples decided to cross the sea in a small fishing boat. Jesus was very tired, because he spent all day telling stories and teaching big crowds of people about God’s love. Jesus laid down to take a nap as the boat sailed across to the other side. Suddenly, a great storm blew up. (thunder, lightning and big crashing waves) The wind blew, and the waves grew and splashed over the side of the boat. (Splashing waves and rain rock the boat) The disciples were afraid the boat would sink, so they woke Jesus up from his nap and cried, “Don’t You care that the boat is sinking?! Save us!” Jesus answered, “Why are you so afraid? What happened to your faith?” Jesus raised his arms and commanded the storm to be still (thunder waves and rain calm down) . The winds stopped and the waves grew calm. The disciples were amazed by this. They looked at one another and asked, “Who is this man who could command the wind and waves, and they would obey him?” (Mark 4:35-41)
