DATA PRODUCTS AND INTERPRETATION

MAPPING THE NORWEGIAN CONTINENTAL SHELF The Geological Survey of Norway (NGU) has launched an aeromagnetic remapping programme of the Norwegian continental shelf with funding from the petroleum industry and governmental institutions. During the last 2-3 decades, NGU has built up a wealth of experience in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical datasets from numerous airborne geophysical surveys onshore and offshore Norway. Our geoscientists combine advanced hardware and software tools to process and interpret data, taking pride in careful attention to detail and thoroughness. The NGU geophysics team is backed by sophisticated and totally integrated in-house and commercial software for image processing of geophysical data, map production, 2D/3D modelling, GIS merging and seismic interpretation. NGU provides integrated geophysical and geological interpretations of the potential field data. Gravity and magnetic data are independent of seismic data, both physically and from a measurement point of view. A joint interpretation that combines seismic, potential field and heat flow data produces a synergy that significantly improves the geological and structural interpretation of the shelf. This range of skills and capabilities provides a complete solution to your mapping requirements. Ongoing research and interdisciplinary development at NGU continue to expand the quality of data acquisition and interpretation.
