Election season has begun clay and Deb Wilson for the four seats at the Council table for the coming term of four years. The four School Boards in the district are also holding elections on October 26 for their respective Board of Trustees, and competition will be had in two of the four. Diane Burns has been acclaimed as Trustee for Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (secteur 2), which covers Lanark and Leeds& Grenville Counties. Brent Laton returns unopposed as Trustee for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, covering the combined area of the Municipality of North Grenville, Merrickville/ Wolford Township, Town of Prescott, Elizabethtown Kitley Township, Edwardsburg Township and Augusta Township. The Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario sees a contest for Trustee between Patrick Robert and Anab Yussuf. The position covers Lanark County, the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville, Renfrew County, and the Township of South Algonquin. Nancy Peckford has been acclaimed for a third term as Mayor of North Grenville, as no-one else chose to stand for the position. Two of the outgoing members of Council are stepping down after eight years in the job. rapid expansion, a serious division within the community over a proposed prison in Kemptville, and numerous crises over staffing, economic development, and infrastructure issues. This community owes them thanks for their service in difficult times. The other two outgoing members of the previous Council, John Barclay and Deb Wilson, have chosen to run again this time, and they are joined on the slate of candidates by four newcomers to municipal politics. Eligible electors will be mailed a Voter Information Letter in October that provides voters with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) as well as a website address and a telephone number that will be available for casting ballots. Electors will be required to visit the website or phone the telephone number and enter the provided PIN as well as their date of birth. The system will match the PIN to the date of birth confirming elector identity and the appropriate ballot will be provided. Eligible electors who prefer to vote by traditional voting (paper voting method), may visit the Municipal Office located at 285 County Road 44 in Kemptville on Election Day between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. to cast their vote. There will once again be the option of Internet/Telephone Voting , which will be available for 10 days prior to Election Day and electors will be able to vote remotely using their own devices. In-person, paper voting will be available at the Municipal Office (285 County Road 44, Kemptville) on Election Day, October 26, 2026.
