Before the import/distribution activity, the company was for 15 years a manufacturer of components for hydraulic systems for PC and HD, supplying large companies such as Valeo or Lear, in Europe and Turkey. EUROPART SUMMARY 75 YEARS ANNIVERSARY

EUROPART is the leading dealer of spare parts and accessories for commercial vehicles, buses and special vehicles of all classes in Europe. In addition, EUROPART offers its main customer groups from commercial vehicle workshops, freight forwarders and fleet operators a wide range of workshop supplies: this includes chemicals, workshop/operating equipment, and fittings, fastening technology, occupational safety and much more for day-to-day operations. NEXUS LAUNCHES ITS FIRST CLIMATE DAY “STRONGER TOGETHER” DURING ITS BUSINESS FORUM IN MONTREAL

Following the announcement during Automechanika Frankfurt in September 2022, NEXUS Automotive International organized the first edition of its N! Climate Day during the Business Forum which took place in Montreal (21st – 23rd March). More than 100 people from 50 committed companies (global suppliers, leading regional distributors, associations, rating agencies & experts) - representing the whole supply chain - attended to share testimonials, thoughts & inputs through three main sections: call for Actions – Inspire - Engage. This first edition of the NEXUS Climate Day was operationally focused, addressing the main challenges, detailing the community’s existing success stories and sharing community initiatives. With the launching of several “pilot cases” to define actions to be taken now for a more sustainable industry, NEXUS Climate Day draws its sustainability roadmap with the active support of key suppliers including founding partners: Bosch, Delphi, Mahle, Mann & Hummel, Meyle, SKF, TotalEnergies & Valeo with the support of Bilstein, Brembo, Elring, KYB, NTN & NRF.

EXTREMELY CONSTRUCTIVE OUTCOMES FOLLOWING THE FIRST ‘THE ONE AFRICA BUSINESS SUMMIT’ ORGANIZED BY NEXUS IN CAIRO, JUNE 14-15, 2023

The African focus has been part of the NEXUS DNA from the beginning and Africa constitutes 4% of the N! global turnover and 15% of the N! member base. NEXUS will now take a further step forward in Africa with the IAMaga regional structure, which organized its first event in Cairo from 14th to 15th June. More than 110 members of the N! community have met, discussed, and inspired each other through a plenary and workshops dedicated to the specificities of the African markets.

With amongst the lowest motorization rates in the world (42 cars per 1,000 people in some cases), and the expectation that used ICE powered vehicle imports will grow, Africa will develop as a growth market for traditional parts. To accomplish this, IAMaga will not only deliver the regular NEXUS services but also offer unique activities tailored specifically to meet the needs of African members. Through its dedicated efforts, IAMaga aims to lead and inspire business development across the continent. ‘The One Africa Business Summit’ organized by IAMaga, delivered valuable insights and discussions on the African automotive aftermarket tailored to the specific needs and demands of the African aftermarket. The workshops focused on crucial topics such as anti-counterfeit measures, digitization, sustainability and developing aftermarket talent in Africa. NEXUS Automotive International expressed great satisfaction with the reception that was received to its 8th edition of Connecting Days, held on October 1st in Dubai. This annual event marked a significant milestone as NEXUS made its debut with a dedicated booth at the Automechanika Dubai, a historic first in the organization’s history. Moreover, NEXUS introduced the latest industry trends, as identified by Frost & Sullivan, to an audience of over 125 attendees. The conference served as a platform to strengthen relationships and foster mutually advantageous opportunities: • Reflecting on the regional dynamic and its future, N! is still expanding by welcoming new members: almost 14% growth in Q1-Q2 in 2023.

REMANUFACTURING AND TURBOCHARGING FOR SUSTAINABILITY

As a transformative global product leader, BorgWarner is committed to driving the transition to eMobility with a vision of building a cleaner, healthier, safer future for all, in a more energy-efficient world. The company’s Charging Forward accelerated electrification strategy and is closely aligned with its sustainability program, in which full lifecycle innovation plays an essential role. In 2022, BorgWarner sourced around 36% of raw materials for new manufacturing from recycled or remanufactured supplies. Alongside transitioning the product portfolio to electrification and reducing component weight, further circular product development is underway to increase the content of remanufactured materials to help achieve the company’s Scope 3 target of 25% carbon emissions reduction by 2031, compared to a 2021 baseline. During almost three decades of remanufacturing vehicle parts including turbochargers, alternators, generators, electronic unit injectors and exhaust gas recirculating valves, BorgWarner has reclaimed and recycled more than 24,500 metric tons of cast iron and aluminum. The turbocharger remanufacturing program alone has saved some 5.2 million turbines, compressor housings and bearings from landfill, enabling the recovery and re-use of tens of thousands of metric tons of cast iron and thousands of metric tons of aluminum. Turbochargers offer additional environmental benefits beyond the re-use of valuable resources. For example, by harnessing exhaust gas energy that would otherwise go to waste, a turbocharger can improve the fuel efficiency of a gasoline internal combustion engine by about 9%, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and their associated exhaust emissions.

In 2022, BorgWarner produced 8.9 million wastegate turbochargers that were fitted to approximately 7.7 million gasoline powered cars. Those turbochargers will go on to save an estimated 16.75 million metric tons of carbon during the average lifetime of the vehicles, based on the turbocharger’s share of a vehicle’s air system. Now that owners are keeping their vehicles for longer, remanufactured replacement turbochargers are increasingly in demand, helping to lower emissions by restoring lost efficiency. Additional turbocharger references continue to be added regularly from the BorgWarner remanufacturing center in Poland to ensure availability for most applications. Being a cost-effective option to new replacements, remanufactured parts will always be a popular choice, particularly for older vehicles – but as well as providing good value, they represent an environmentally conscious contribution to BorgWarner’s own sustainability goals and those of its customers.

BORGWARNER TURBOCHARGERS FOR THE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE AFTERMARKET

The most prestigious commercial vehicle manufacturers in the world rely on energy-efficient boosting technologies from global propulsion system leader BorgWarner. The company’s enviable reputation both as an Original Equipment Manufacturer and reliable service partner, means its turbochargers are also first choice in the aftermarket. A broad spectrum of sizes and types of proven and reliable wastegate turbochargers supports engine displacements from 4.5 to 16 liters and applications between 20 and 600kW. Product durability is especially critical for commercial vehicles, where downtime means interrupted business and loss of revenue. Turbocharger wheels can be constructed in multiple ways: casting, milling, or forging, followed by milling. BorgWarner uses the

best of these methods – forged milled wheel technology – for most of its new and existing turbo models to add strength and improve low-cycle fatigue resistance. 49 As an alternative to an original turbocharger, REMAN turbochargers from BorgWarner offer an economic replacement that combines the quality and performance of a new turbo with the competitiveness of a remanufactured product. As such, they are ideal for the fast and efficient repair of older commercial vehicles that can still provide many years of reliable service. Integrated into the BorgWarner logistics concept, these turbochargers are available just as quickly as original spare parts and qualify for the same first-class aftermarket support. BorgWarner has accumulated decades of experience in remanufacturing turbochargers, and a REMAN unit from the company offers a far more reliable prospect than a reproduction of dubious quality. All bearing and sealing components, as well as worn or damaged parts, are replaced with new items before being assembled, balanced and tested with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and processes. The product offering has recently been extended with the launch of several new BorgWarner REMAN turbochargers for commercial vehicle applications including MercedesBenz Actros 2013-2019, and various Deutz engines from 2011 onwards for agricultural, construction and industrial applications. GREEN COJALI THE SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY

Conserving the environment and searching for sustainability are issues that currently concern all companies, but especially those within the automotive sector. For this reason, Cojali has compiled a complete catalogue of products that promote efficient and sustainable consumption, under the name of Green Cojali. COJALI REMAN It is remarkable – in the first place - that the products and services contained within this catalogue include the Cojali REMAN component range, which is dedicated to remanufacturing component parts to replace faulty or worn ones. This approach provides an alternative to purchasing new products, an option that favours the circular economy and the preservation of the environment. This range of manufactured products includes brake calipers, valves, brake and suspension systems or ECUs, thus covering most commercial vehicle component parts that are likely to be damaged. JALTEST ESB (ECU Simulation Bench) Following this line, Cojali has recently launched Jaltest ESB onto the market, a multi-brand simulation bench developed to diagnose, test and repair electronic control units by using the know-how of Cojali. This provides workshops with the opportunity to carry out repairs independently, therefore promoting this fast, cost-effective and ecofriendly alternative. As for coverage, Jaltest ESB is currently providing support for the most frequent failures in more than 3,000 ECU references of the main brands of commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment and OHW equipment.

52 Some examples of failures that can be solved with Jaltest ESB include injection failures in the engine system, light activation or deactivation failures, problems with indication needles and screens on the instrument clusters; or CAN communication failures between different ECUs, amongst others. EXHAUST GAS AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEMS Another outstanding range of products under the name of Green Cojali are NOx sensors, manufactured with the most cutting edge of Cojali, and which favour the optimal performance of the anti-pollution system, with the aim of reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. ADBLUE/DEF CLEANING KIT Finally, this catalogue contains several AdBlue/DEF cleaning kits, whose components are used at different points of the installation of the anti-pollution system circuit and, by means of the diagnostics tool, the corresponding actions are executed to make the system operate correctly. Ultimately, Cojali is currently offering and will keep developing future solutions for companies so that they can run their businesses in the most sustainable and eco-friendly way. TRUCKING IS GETTING CLEANER AND GREENER!

Not many people consider Heavy Duty trucking as something that goes handin-hand with Sustainability and Clean Air. But there’s a lot of things going on in that sense already, and even more could be done to make the “elephants-ofthe-highways” both greener and cleaner. Trucks emit over 2,4 billion tons of CO2 globally, every year – that’s 3 times more than all of Germany! In Europe, emissions of on-road transport haven’t really changed over the past 20 years, which often leads to a public conclusion that truckers seriously need to step up their green game and do more for the climate and a cleaner environment. Transport demand is constantly increasing, and yet the industry has managed with tireless refinement of engine technologies and fuels to reduce CO2 per ton delivered by over 20%. All together, whilst successfully adapting emission technologies that reduce pollutants such as NOX and Particles by over 95%! Still, many point towards electrification as the only viable next step in greener and cleaner transportation and, on paper, it’s easy to see why: Zero tail-pipe emissions of neither CO2, nor pollutants. Yet availability of clean energy, charging infrastructure, costs and the timeline for replacing the vehicle fleet, will create a bottleneck for decades ahead. So – do we sit around waiting? No. Let’s think sustainability and clean mobility for com-

bustion engines. Euro 7 – why bother? Natural fleet renewal will continue to reduce the total fleet’s emission of NOX by 90% towards 2030. And the introduction of exhaust filters has already reduced particles to a level where tire and brake-wear starts to be the main concern. So why do we even need Euro 7?

Think of this: Even if by 2035 there were no more combustion engines leaving the assembly lines, those produced in 2034 could very well remain in operation for another 15-20 years. So: By abandoning all development and innovation now, means that by 2050, truck engines will be based on 25-years-old technology! This is why Euro 7 is important: Because there is so much more that can be done. And technologically, the solutions are already known. Next level Particulate filters Particulate filters in Euro VI applications are largely based on cordierite: A cheap, lightweight ceramic material, which unfortunately has a reduced mechanical and thermal durability. To meet the expected requirements of Euro 7, Dinex is scaling up production of new types of filter, based on a highly porous Silicon Carbide material. In addition to superior ABOUT EURO 7 The final requirements are yet to be written in stone, but for trucks there are some quite certain indications: - Implementation could be mid-2027. - Cold start and urban driving included. - NOX reduced from 0,4 to 0,2 g/kWh. - Particle count reduced, and minimum particle size goes from 23 to 10nm. - Previously unregulated pollutants, (e.g. N2O) included. - Higher demands to durability.

durability and soot capacity, these will effectively filter out particles down to 10 nm, making them ideal for both diesel and gas applications. Optimized catalytic coating will ensure frequent passive regeneration, so the driver can continue effortlessly for 100s of thousands of kilometres before a filter service. Double-Up on SCR Temperature is the key to reducing NOX emissions. In fact, a Euro VI truck, hauling goods at a constant highway speed, is likely to already be compliant with Euro 7. The real challenge begins with cold-start and urban driving. To be compliant even from the first revs of the engine, Dinex has demonstrated the effectiveness of so-called 2-Stage SCR systems. The first stage is positioned within the upstream pipe, as close to the engine as possible, and is assisted by an electrical heating device. This way, NOX reduction can start instantly, and will remain effective even during slow countryside trips and urban driving. Some applications may call for a so-called NOX Storage Catalyst: An innovative new technology that passively absorbs NOX during cold conditions and releases them again when the temperature is higher. Space and Costs More new tech is in play for Euro 7, like new improved decoupling elements (flex-pipes) and insulation solutions. We also see a tendency by some OEMs to make it possible to service and exchange not only the filter, but also the catalysts. Good news for sustainability and service costs but a challenge in other terms. Euro 7 solutions are bound to be more complex and spacious than Euro VI, and naturally: Costs will go up, but not as much as one may think. With recent cost innovations in catalyst and emission technologies, Euro 7 vehicles are likely to be less than 1% more expensive than similar Euro VI. Add to that the improved durability and serviceability, running costs could very well be lower overall.

But what about that CO2? Euro VI was a major leap towards minimizing pollutant emissions and, with Euro 7, the advantage electrified trucks have over traditional in terms of pollutant emissions, becomes even more insignificant.

But there is no viable solution to remove CO2 at the tailpipe. And although electrification - despite all the bottlenecks - makes perfectly good sense in certain applications, there are many where it won’t for decades. Therefore, it’s time to recognize the role of combustion engines in greening up on-road transportation. Well (wheel?) -to-Wheel analysis concludes that trucks running on fuels from renewable sources can be every bit as green as electric, running on green electricity. Certain fuels may even present a carbon footprint below 0 g/km! Question is: Is there enough biodiesel in the world to completely replace fossil fuels? Enough biogas? Enough green electricity to produce that much hydrogen? No, and that’s not the point. A single-technology approach to greening-up transportation will be unnecessarily slow, rigid, and expensive. But a diverse, technology neutral one will allow each fuel to play its part – each within its own market niche. Future of sustainable transport At Dinex we are preparing for a future of diversified fuels. Trucks and their Emission Aftertreatment Systems must be equally effective regardless of the fuel origin: Whether fossil, bio, blends, or synthetic. Hydrogen may have its breakthrough in combustion engines, long before Fuel Cell’s has its commercial breakthrough, and hence Dinex was the only supplier to present a full Hydrogen Combustion Emission Solution at the recent IAA and Bauma fairs. We can’t predict the future. But we can make sure that whatever technologies the market will apply as pieces in the puzzle for greening up transportation – Dinex will contribute with innovative emission solutions for a cleaner tomorrow.

MAHLE SUPPORTS TECHNOLOGY-OPEN CLIMATE PROTECTION IN HEAVY-DUTY TRAFFIC

• European Commission plans to tighten existing CO2 fleet limits for heavy commercial vehicles • MAHLE considers the technology-open path necessary to achieve climate targets more quickly • Hydrogen as a green energy source makes an important contribution • MAHLE CEO Arnd Franz: “Transportation sector as a pillar of the national economy must be transformed in an affordable and climate-effective way” In view of the plans presented today by the European Commission for a revision of the EU regulation on future CO2 fleet limits for heavy commercial vehicles, MAHLE is advocating climate protection that is open to all technologies. All climate-neutral technologies are necessary to achieve climate goals more quickly and effectively while accommodating the diversity of applications of modern transportation on the road. MAHLE, therefore, welcomes the proposal of the EU Commission, according to which hydrogen should also play a more vital role as a green energy source in addition to battery technology. “Commercial vehicles are a fundamental pillar of our prosperity,” said Arnd Franz, Chairman of the MAHLE Management Board and CEO of MAHLE. “The diversity of applications requires individual technical solutions on the way to carbon neutrality. For that, we need innovative competition and not ideologically driven technology specifications.” Under the EU Commission’s proposals, the existing CO2 fleet limits for heavy commercial vehicles are to be extended and tightened. Safety relevant, but often overlooked Slack Adjusters

In air brake systems of commercial vehicles, slack adjusters are used to compensate the brake-related wear of brake linings and brake drums in the drum brake and ensure a constant clearance between these components. Slack adjusters are used with S-Cam drum brakes and take over the transmission of the braking force from the brake cylinder to the S-Cam shaft. This enables manual or automatic adjustment of the S-Cam shaft so that the brake cylinder operates in approximately the same stroke range. A heavy vehicle with a total weight of up to 40 tonnes requires an enormous amount of force to be applied by the air brake system in order to avoid dangerous situations. In the old days, when there were manual slack adjusters, drivers had to crawl under the axles of tractors and trailers to adjust the brakes by taking a spanner and adjusting the travel of each push rod on each slack adjuster. To avoid accidents, they had to check and readjust this every day, especially in heavy traffic and difficult terrain, such as in the mountains. Now there are automatic slack adjusters on every axle with drum brakes, and the slack adjusters adjust automatically while driving. They have been mandatory for trucks and tractors since 1994 and for trailers since 1995.

Slack Adjuster Maintenance Slack adjusters that are not being greased regularly during scheduled maintenance and inspections have a direct impact on both safety and regulatory compliance. Lubricating the slack adjuster serves two important purposes: Pressing in the new lubricant forces out the old grease along with water and contaminants that have entered the inside of the slack adjuster. And it protects the internal gear sets, clutches and other components of the slack adjuster from wear.

Both are necessary for the slack adjuster to function properly, ensure the correct braking distance and enable optimum braking performance. febi recommends lubricating the slack adjusters with NLGI grade 2 long-term grease at every preventative maintenance inspection. However, no sulfide-containing lubricants may be used. Facts about Automatic Slack Adjusters: • • • •

Do not manually adjust automatic slack adjusters after initial adjustment unless you are doing a complete brake overhaul. Never use an impact wrench to adjust. If you do, internal slack adjuster damage may occur. When re-lining brakes, remove the slack adjuster from the S-cam. Then rotate the worm wheel 90 degrees before refitting. This reduces uneven wear. Make sure that the adjustment arm is always firmly connected to the bracket. Note: An automatic slack adjuster only needs to be manually adjusted during initial installation or when replacing brake linings and/or drums.

Manual adjustment may also be necessary in emergencies when the air pressure cannot release the brakes. However, this should only be carried out by a certified technician!

Uneven braking with Automatic Slack Adjusters? If you discover uneven braking or excess pushrod travel on your vehicle, try to correct it by applying a few service brake applications to automatically adjust the brakes. If the automatic slack adjuster does not bring pushrod travel into normal limits and you know there is no underlying brake issue causing it, always opt for replacement of the automatic slack adjuster. Brake Parts are Safety Relevant Not only the slack adjusters should be checked regularly for tight fit, function and wear, but also the surrounding components. If there is any doubt about the correct function of slack adjusters, they should be replaced. For safety reasons, the replacement of brake parts and work on the brake system should only be carried out by trained specialists. When slack adjusters need to be replaced, always choose high quality parts. Pascoli Group was founded in 1973 in the province of Venice. Within 50 years it has been able to optimally develop the distribution of spare parts and accessories - starting with buses and adding trucks and trailers over the years, as well as grinding all types of engines. This has enabled us to triple the proportion of recycled fibers and consequently make an important contribution to the careful use of resources,“ explains Jörg Schömmel, Senior Range Manager for Air Filters at MANN-FILTER.

More air filters like the C 24 005 with this medium will be launched on the market. Their green, recycled fibers distinguishes these air filters from others. They meet the replacement intervals prescribed by vehicle manufacturers even under dusty conditions, and are characterized by their flame-retardant properties. The new MANN-FILTER air filters are also supplied in OEM quality. Thanks to the multilayer MICROGRADE A-S medium, the separation efficiency of C 24 005 air filters is up to 99.5 percent, when tested with ISO-certified test dust. Thanks to its high dirt holding capacity throughout the entire service interval, the air filter requires only 30 percent of the filter medium area of traditional air filters based on cellulose media. The fibers of the evolved medium are certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, meaning they are tested for pollutants and declared non-harmful. Filters from MANN+HUMMEL are in continuous development. As well as meeting technical specifications, one of the most important factors for MANN+HUMMEL is sustainability.

THE PUSH FOR SUSTAINABILITY IS ACCELERATING IN THE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE INDUSTRY – WITH IMPACTS FOR THE AFTERMARKET

Sustainability is gaining increasing importance on the agenda of players in the commercial vehicle industry. In Europe, this is primarily driven by regulatory push. For example, fleet CO2 emission targets for OEMs are coming sharply into focus with the new regulations becoming effective from 2025 for heavy trucks, and also planned to be introduced for trailers as well. In addition, in July 2023 the EU Commission proposed a new regulation on end-of-life vehicles (ELV), in line with the Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan. The proposal relates to reusability, recyclability and recoverability of vehicles, aiming at optimizing resources, minimizing pollution and promoting circular business models. This new requirement for heavy vehicles has implications for vehicle design through end-of-life treatment, e.g. regarding mandatory recycled content for certain materials. Also on the fleet operator side, there are ambitions to tighten ESG regulations, which are clearly beginning to influence the market. An increasing market pull can be observed by many big fleet operators - either trying to become trailblazers for green operations or being pressured by their customers aiming for more sustainable supply chains. Hence, major players are committed to reaching climate neutrality within the next 10 to 20 years, starting by investing heavily into decarbonizing their fleets. Amazon, for instance, invests over 1 bn EUR to electrify its fleet. Overall, ESG is becoming an integral element of business for industry players and, thus, becoming even more relevant for the aftermarket:

The protection of the environment and human health are top priorities in TMD Friction’s development department, where all CV pads for the Textar brand are created. The quality of the ingredients is extremely important; the raw materials used have to go through thorough checks. As a result, we make virtually all of our pads without copper or antimony, for example. 114

In recognition of the effort to save both weight and reduce CO2 emissions, the braking technology specialist has developed a special lightweight backplate for its disc brake pads. The reduced thickness of the backplate is compensated by an intermediate layer that has a lighter specific weight than steel, without impacting the plate’s service life and load capacity. The reduced weight also results in less wear on the system brake/ axle. Based on a 6-axle truck-trailer combination, this can deliver a weight saving of up to 7.5 kilogrammes. TMD Friction is the first manufacturer to make these products available to the aftermarket. Especially for CV fleet operators, the main benefit is that the lightweight brake pads are fully interchangeable with standard pads, as the geometry is exactly the same. Environmental considerations don’t end with the finished product. We constantly review processes to reduce our environmental impact. In fact, we have already saved 40 tonnes of plastic being used every year by removing the plastic protectors used on Textar PC coated brake discs during transportation and replacing them with eco-friendly corrugated cardboard. We are committed to continuing this effort across our business and are already looking at more suitable, environmentally friendly solutions for our CV products.

When speaking about sustainability, the first topic that comes to mind is the environment and for a variety of good reasons. However, for us, the meaning of sustainability extends to far more than just climate protection. In addition to the environmental issues of climate and nature, the focus also lies across the dimensions of people and lasting values. Of course, environmental impact improvement is ingrained in our DNA as players in the mobility sector. From the technological evolution of the powertrain from ICE to hybrids and electric systems - with an increasing share of software driven technologies - it is our role to help and advise our customers in times of transformation. Furthermore, as a manufacturing company, it is our responsibility to review and adapt our production processes from energy consumption to the waste management of our plants, through to the circular economy via reman processes. In addition, ZF Aftermarket is launching its new workshop concept ZF [pro]Service, which was developed as a detailed concept especially for CV workshops. It will be launched in 2023, combining and optimizing the previously separate concepts ZF Service Point, ZF [pro]Tech (CV variant) and WABCO Service Partner. The three concepts are already serving around 3,800 CV workshops worldwide. Connectivity is already an important part of mobility. Vehicle owners and especially fleet operators already rely on it to reduce energy consumption, maximize uptime and coordinate processes. ZF’s new digital fleet management platform SCALAR, which enables the operation of vehicle fleets through AI-based, automated decision-making and real-time optimization, ensuring operational efficiency at the highest level, will celebrate its premiere at IAA Transportation.

Protecting the climate by conserving resources. Remanufacturing makes it possible to save a great deal of energy and materials – compared with the supply of new parts. ZF anticipated this environmental goal very early in 1962 and has consequently expanded it’s remanufacturing program over the past years. A broad range of vehicle components including brakes, transmissions, steering systems or torque converters are being remanufactured to original equipment quality at 15 locations by ZF – with the trend rising. ZF is giving a second life to old components. Remanufacturing begins in the workshop, by removing the old part from the vehicle. Arriving in one of the remanufacturing locations, ZF Aftermarket experts assess and evaluate the newcomer, dismantle and clean it. Then they sort out any damaged individual components, dispose of them in an environmentally friendly manner or recycle them. During assembly, ZF Aftermarket technicians replace defective and missing components with spare parts of original equipment quality, replace wearing parts, and update the software, if necessary. There are only deviations from the original series product quality, if the current technology is more advanced than at the time of original equipment. In this case, a technical upgrade is included. Finally, the component is returned to the aftermarket with a new warranty, where it awaits it’s next use as a spare part.

Awarded remanufacturing expertise. The Cradle-to-Cradle Gold certificate is the accolade for sustainable production. ZF has been awarded this several times – the ZF location in Bielefeld for example, for the remanufacturing of Sachs clutch pressure plates. For the certification according to the specifications of the Cradleto-Cradle Products Innovation Institute based in Oakland, California, a manufacturer must reuse around 95 percent of the materials. Natural resources are finite but the ZF remanufacturing program allows to reduce the demand for raw materials by up to 90 percent compared to manufacturing a new product. Additionally, it saves about 90 percent in energy. These sustainable savings of energy and material bring mobility in harmony with the environment and also lowers one’s personal CO2 footprint.
