NEXUSTRUCK workshop network is rapidly expanding in Italy thanks to the collaboration of the N! Member Pascoli Group. With already more than 50 heavy duty workshops joining NEXUSTRUCK, Pascoli Group aim at creating a strong and reliable network to provide innovative services and the best qualitative support to all the customers in Italy. The implementation of the concept took months of preparation, together with the N! Global Heavy Duty Director, Janusz Zielinski, the CEO of Pascoli Group, Elisabetta Pascoli, worked intensively to shape and adapt the project at a local level. “The future of the aftermarket is full of challenges, some of the megatrends are affecting not only the passenger car division but as well the heavy duty and truck business. Individualisation, safety and future viability: these three keywords characterise the new full-LED rear lamp that lighting and electronics expert HELLA is now launching especially for 24 volt trucks and trailers. HELLA offers the rear lamp as a modular concept. The patented HELLA LED light curtain, which creates the tail light of the full-LED rear lamp, can now be customised for the first time. Graphic structures such as dots, stripes and shapes can be marked out for this purpose. Georg Fink, Sales Manager for Trailers at HELLA explains: “An individual light signature is ultimately becoming more and more important in order to stand out from the competition, not only for car manufacturers, but also for those producing trucks and trailers.” Furthermore, manufacturers are free to choose the colour of the carrier frame to match, for example, the corporate colours. As a further customisation option, manufacturers can choose whether the direction indicator light is to be the standard type or the dynamic variant. The – HELLA in-house – further developed light curtain technology provides a much more homogeneous appearance of the tail light as

it does not require separate optics. At 144 square centimetres, the light curtain is also almost twice as large as in previous models – so the tail light is always visible, even at dusk or in fog, and even from a distance. With an installation space of only 55.5 millimetres in depth, the full-LED rear lamp has technical features that make it fit for the future. Thanks to mechanical interfaces for sensor technology, ultrasonic sensors can be connected on both sides, for example, in order to implement a parking assistant. In addition, the control for the flashing side marker lamps, the direction indicator failure control and the load simulation designed to monitor the stop and direction indicator lights are all integrated into the system. This eliminates the need for additional control units, a fact which significantly reduces the amount of wiring required and ultimately saves costs. The two-colour outer lens of the lamp is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate (PC) and bonded to the housing. It is available with or without a rubber arm. Overall, the rear lamp achieves protection class IP 6K9K, which means that it is not only dustproof but also resistant to cleaning with water under high pressure. The lamp also complies with the automotive standard (ISO 26262).
Hengst outfits Daimler trucks with new oil coolant module. Fuel savings and extended service intervals for new heavy duty diesel engine DD15 Gen5. Apart from being designed to cover extremely long distances, trucks are also exposed to extreme temperatures. Particularly taxing on the engines in this regard are exceedingly cold temperatures. The latest generation of Daimler‘s heavy duty DD15Gen5 engines lives up to these demands by delivering a boost in performance and less downtime. The oil coolant module from Hengst does its share by providing enhanced filtration properties that result in extended service intervals of up to 150,000 km. What is more, the module also offers an extremely high functional density and brings about significant savings in fuel. Equipped with an optimized stack filter, the new oil coolant module engineered by Hengst is used in a great number of engines. The high functional density of the module comprises oil filtration, oil water heat management, water pump and, unlike the previous model generation, an oil pressure regulating valve. Fewer parts, lighter and more robust By applying smart interface integration, Hengst was able to reduce the number of parts to a minimum. Even the oil thermostat has been incorporated directly into the housing. Overall, the reduction in parts has made the module 10 % lighter than the
predecessor model. Better yet, the topology optimized design provides for greater sturdiness against pressure and pulsation and improves Delta P performance by 30 %. The extremely low temperatures that dominate the winter months cause the consistency of the engine oil to turn exceedingly thick and viscous. When it impacts the filter, this highly viscous oil generates an enormous differential pressure (Delta P). The latest generation of the Hengst stack filter has made it possible to achieve a significant increase in oil differential pressure. This causes the filter bypass
valve to open later, resulting in a considerable boost in filtration performance. Improved differential pressure = less fuel and extended service intervals Hengst has found the solution by developing the stack filter with its partially synthetic medium. Special intermediate plates embedded in the filter insert shorten the pleats, giving a significant boost to stability. At the same time, these plates keep the pleats open, thus keeping differential pressure and filtration performance at optimum levels. This most recent module generation combines a reduction in fuel consumption with significantly extended service intervals.

Rotating beacons perform an important function in road traffic by drawing the attention of other road users to potential risks, thereby helping to prevent accidents and guarantee a smooth flow of traffic. Certification according to CISPR25 Class 5 Due to their function, rotating beacons can cause electrical or electromagnetic effects and thus disrupt other technical components of a vehicle. The latest standard CISPR 25 generally checks whether and to what extent electrical components affect other receivers installed on the vehicle and is often used as a basis for internal product specifications from automotive manufacturers and their suppliers. The CISPR 25 standard comprises measurements on component and module emissions, as well as testing of emissions from an entire vehicle with the aerial belonging to the vehicle. In addition, the standard is divided into five classes, with Class 5 having the highest requirements. The three variants of the LED rotating beacons meet this standard, thereby confirming the highest possible electromagnetic compatibility. For classic roof mounting, the first variant has a three-point mounting (Art.-No.: 84770007). It is currently installed

In the second design, the ATLAS LED rotating beacon (Art.-No.: 84770008) is suitable for retrofit mounting on commercial vehicles. This happened with the German commercial vehicle journal “Werkstatt aktuell”. For the first time, LIQUI MOLY was voted the best brand for care and cleaning products in a readers’ poll. Far less surprising, but no less pleasing, is the company’s first place as the best oil and lubricant brand. Since the introduction of the competition, the company has been ranked first in this category. “We firmly believed that this would happen,” says Christian Schwer on winning a readers’ vote in the vehicle care category for the first time. Nevertheless, he is surprised: “In my opinion, I expected a few years of waiting before we knocked the top dog of the care products off the pedestal. And I had not suspected that we could make this move in a commercial vehicle medium,” says the National Sales Manager of LIQUI MOLY. In motorsport, we would call it a photo finish. In the readers’ polls of the commercial vehicle magazine in the care and cleaning category, it was really close at the finish line. After LIQUI MOLY had worked its way forward year after year, the overtaking maneuver and thus the leap onto the top step of the podium succeeded this year. And this at an extremely suitable time, because Germany’s most popular oil brand is now positioning itself more strongly as a full-range supplier that, in addition to lubricants and additives, also has first-class service and care products in its range. In the oils and lubricants category, the eighth title was won in the eighth year of the competition in a commanding manner. The lead over the silver medal winner was more than 37 percentage points. This gap has again grown by around a third compared to the previous year. “Once again, this clear victory confirms our hard work, especially in the first year of the coronavirus pandemic,” is how Christian Schwer puts it. “Now we’re reaping the harvest.”

TecAlliance and its industry partners take catalogue data quality to a higher level Eleven percent of TecDoc brands have achieved Premier Data Supplier status
TecAlliance, the leading data management specialist in the independent automotive parts market, is continuously running a data quality initiative to optimise data quality in the TecDoc Catalogue. A new, more demanding set of rules with additional validations and key performance indicators (KPIs) supports parts manufacturers in improving their product data. Since June 2021, each brand that fulfils these higher content-related requirements has been certified as a Premier Data Supplier (PDS). As of the latest September evaluation, 11 percent of the more than 800 supplier brands have already achieved this superior status. Euro 6: A regulation limiting exhaust emissions It’s common knowledge that the ongoing gradual phase-out of fossil fuel vehicles is having a positive impact on climate change and air pollution. What you may not be aware of is that the progress on this front starts far earlier, and that all trucks and buses sold in Europe over the last few decades have had to comply with emissions standards set by the European Commission. The first round of the European exhaust emissions regulations, commonly known as Euro 1, came into
effect in 1992. Today, vehicles follow Euro 6 emissions standards introduced on 31st December 2012 and EU regulators are already working on Euro 7, which should be announced by the end of 2021 and will likely come into force in 2025.
Emission standards for trucks and buses Trucks and buses both fall under the official category of “heavy-duty diesel engines”. The emission standards for these vehicles are defined by engine energy output in g/kWh, as opposed to the emission standards for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, which are defined by vehicle driving distance in g/km.
Euro 6 regulations incorporate tough monitoring of high-temperature combustion emissions that contain nitrogen and oxygen, NO and NO2, together known as NOx. These regulations also control how much carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and particulate matter vehicles can emit per kilometre driven. Over the years, the targets for emissions reduction have become increasingly strict: The Euro 6 limits currently in force are 95% lower in NOx and 98% lower in particulate matter emissions than the Euro 1 limits set in 1998. This increasingly narrow tolerance for dangerous emissions has led to much automotive industry innovation; Euro 6 standards have made trucks and buses cleaner, more fuel efficient and, in some cases, more powerful than ever before.
