NEXT Harm Reduction, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Next Harm Reduction is planning to hire a new Executive Director to start in December 2023. Next Harm Reduction aka NEXT Distro “NEXT” is an online and mail-based harm reduction service designed to reduce opioid overdose death, prevent injection-related disease transmission, and improve the lives of people who use drugs. NEXT was the first program of its kind in the United States and has been responsible for advancing a new modality of service provision to serve and support people at high risk of overdose and drug-related disease transmission. Through pioneering a unique hub-and-spoke model of harm reduction services, NEXT and affiliated partners have formed the first national harm reduction service delivering free services by mail to households in over 80% of US counties. The Executive Director provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for NEXT and oversees all operations, programmatic, financial, and technical systems. They are responsible for fundraising activities, implementing policy, and representing the organization on international, national, state, city, and community levels. This is a remote position with some travel required. NEXT’s new Executive Director will be positioned to build upon a healthy financial outlook and solid infrastructure of innovative harm reduction programming, and positive working relationships with affiliate programs, funders, and national stakeholders. As NEXT transitions from founding to new leadership, the Executive Director will partner with board and staff to further strengthen NEXT’s internal infrastructure, cultivate new partnerships, harness emerging funding opportunities, and work to support the following areas: Organizational Culture: The next Executive Director will embrace collaborative practices and maintain and grow a diverse, values-driven team focused on internally supporting and hiring people with lived experience.
