NOTES ON SPRING 2026

With a decade now behind us, it feels somewhat safe to say that New Works has found its way. A distinctiveness in expression. A set of particularities that feels like a place of home. At the same time, every day is a new day — the ‘New’ in New Works does not deny itself, and we will continue to put it to the test while remaining true to our core.

At New Works, balance is at the heart of everything we create. We seek harmony between contrasting elements — dark and light, rough and polished, old and new — crafting designs and spaces that evoke calm and clarity amidst complexity. This year will reveal more of New Works, bringing both familiar and unseen sides into view.

We begin the year with Falke Svatun’s Kantarell series, a design that balances the familiar with the new through gentle precision. Introduced in 2025 with two pendants, the Kantarell series now welcomes a floor lamp alongside wall and ceiling lamps, continuing Falke’s exploration of the lighting family.

2026 also marks the introduction of New Works’ first rug collections. A natural extension of our tactile sphere, these new rugs are designed to serve as grounding elements, unifying interiors with subtle tones and rich textures. Rugs are the true binders of spaces, adding warmth and a sense of completion — and we are pleased to finally welcome them into our collection.

The first quarter’s launches further include a long-awaited extension of the May family — a lounge chair and matching tables that expand the series into more relaxed outdoor settings. Designed with the same understated language as the rest of May, they settle naturally into their surroundings throughout the year.

Together, these designs offer moments of pause under the open sky, set against the many ventures that lie ahead. New designs to discover, new ground to explore, and new shades on the painting palette of New Works.

We look forward to taking you along on this journey.

Atlas Series by John Astbury

Named after the mythical Titan condemned to hold up the heavens on his shoulders, the Atlas Series stands strongly with its solid legs supporting the spacious seats and tabletops. The meeting and contrast between the legs and the tabletop is central to the design, where each element exaggerates the other giving Atlas its distinct presence and brutalist feel.

Missing Chair by Regular Company

The Missing Chair appears as if a simple line drawing has sprung into life. Sensual yet strong, the soft curve of each line creates a whimsy that is hard to describe. Straight lines have been softened, allowing the timber seat and back to appear as if floating above the thin steel frame. What remains are the bare essentials in our own interpretation of the humble cafe chair: light, stackable and durable, completed by a highly comfortable silhouette. Despite its small dimensions, the Tenon Lounge Chair boasts an expressive character - hard and soft, strong, and graceful - as it cultivates contrasts between hard wood and upholstered surfaces. A clean construction in solid oak, assembled in a so-called ‘mortise and tenon joint,’ creates a sculptural frame for the seat. The idea for the Kantarell series originated from a study of directing light. With its trumpet-like shape acting as a funnel, Kantarell spreads the light from a nearly hidden light source at its centre. Its elegant, graphic silhouette created between the two concentric circles—the lampshade and the reflector—instantly draws the eye, defining a space within a space.

The Karl-Johan lighting series is inspired by excursions into nature. A search for wild mushrooms. The tones of an autumn forest. The soft yet distinct silhouettes of the pendants, wall lamps and table lamps are equally suited to residential and hospitality settings. A waterproof portable version of the table lamp allows Karl-Johan to return to its cradle, travelling out into the elements of nature; on the terrace from the first early spring evenings and for a swim on the beach on a warm summer night.

Knot Rug by Lotta Agaton

Designed by Lotta Agaton, the Knot rug collection is woven from soft yet sturdy rope and finished with a simple tied knot, which sits casually in the corner of the rug. Thick and chunky in expression, they boast a generous tactility, introducing layer and weight to the décor. The rugs come in three versatile neutrals and two sizes, where the scale of the rope increases proportionally with the size of the rug, growing from 12 mm to 20 mm in thickness.

The New Works Silvery Line is a growing collection of tabletop items that combine everyday functionality with a sculptural touch. In continuation of the Modernist pursuit of undecorated elegance, these small objects highlight the art of reimagining shapes with simplicity in form and function. From this shared aspect, each item come into its own through the designer’s mark, expressing a unique character and purpose.

Reminiscent of a ripple across a glassy lake, the Ripply Candle Holder reflect the environment through its curved forms. Made from mirror polished stainless steel, these soft shapes transform an industrial material into something almost ephemeral. Existing as a sculptural form, function is only revealed when placing a candle into one of the widening voids between the sheets of steel. To bounce daylight or candlelight, these unique objects create a magnetic pull.

The bold materiality of the Aura Mirror is what generates its unique inner glow. Its polished metal form picks up surrounding light, creating diverse reflections through a combination of hard flat surfaces and long curves.
