Eight years ago, Rosemary started to forget words, now she does not read or write, and can only speak a little but does not understand anything that is said.

VEGAS CASINO q THE Koori Kids performance group from Bulahdelah Central School have celebrated NAIDOC week in a variety of ways. The secondary performers were presented with their performance jackets featuring a Pauline Syron-Coxon (Bulahdelah Central School Captain 1988) painting. They travelled to Coolongolook and Bungwahl Primary Schools to share culture and focus on the NAIDOC 2019 theme of ‘Voice Treaty Truth’. As part of their presentation they performed traditional dances, sang in Koori language and led Primary students in a variety of Indigenous games. At Bungwahl Primary School they were fed a meal prepared by the students of Bungwahl utilising produce from their school garden and Indigenous garden. Superannuation assets increased 6.7% in aggregate in the year following March 2018 and were $2,782.6 billion at 31 March 2018. When relationships breakdown, a couple’s superannuation entitlements form part of the property of parties to be considered for adjustment in a property settlement, and it is possible to split the superannuation entitlements of married and de facto couples as part of the property settlement. It is still not possible to split the superannuation entitlements of de facto couples in Western Australia, but proposals for legislative change have been announced. Superannuation splits need to be the subject of a Court order or a Superannuation Agreement entered into strictly in accordance with the Family Law Act. The nature and characteristics of the different fundsincluding SMSF, Industry Funds, Public and
Private Sector schemes and Statutory Funds- are diverse and different rules apply to different types of funds. An example of this is adjustments made to base amounts split in favour of a non-member spouse (NMS) in a SMSF and in most Defined Benefit Funds. When a super splitting order is served on the trustee of these funds, the trustee generally holds the base amount for payment to the NMS until the member satisfies a condition of release. In the interim, the trustee must add interest to the base amount pending payment in accordance with determinations of the Government Actuary. The Family Law (Superannuation) (Interest Rate for Adjustment Period) Determination 2019 was recently released and an interest rate of 4.8% per annum will be added to the relevant base amounts in the financial year beginning 1 July 2019.

Conservatorium Students take to Tea Gardens
Progress Report By Gordon GRAINGER THE Southern Area Reference Group (SARG) met on Friday 2 August and included representatives from MidCoast engineering staff. The meeting was addressed by NP&WLS, providing an update on the new road construction at Dark Point. The live dune is moving westward at a rate of between 5 -9m per annum and is an Aboriginal Place. The deviation is 3.2 Km long and expected to be completed by Oct. The mining road from Mungo Brush to Seal Rocks, closed by Parks, is under consideration for reopening for tourism. Council has introduced a portal on their web page for complaints and requests. By accessing the Report and Request panel on the web-site and completing the form, you will receive a numbered receipt and answer time. Federal M P, Dr. David Gillespie recently announced a grant of $300K to be used in improving the Community Hall in Hawks Nest. The Hall is used by many groups and Council is hosting a stall on site on Wed 14th Aug between the hours of 2 – 7pm where individuals and groups can lodge their ideas. Other Council updates include the completion of shading in Providence Park. The undertaking to supply and install seating under the ferry wharf shelter and study plans will shortly be undertaken for the installation of a bike path to include Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens. Studies are also being conducted to have one -way motorised scooter traffic on the Singing Bridge. News within the area include the successful trialling of the Sand Transfer System on Winda Woppa and almost ready to be handed over to Council. Bulahdelah report completion of shade facility and welcome visitors to partake in the mountain walk and see the tree carvings. North Arm GOL100 Cove have achieved a bulk buying discount from an Electrical supplier and negotiating a group deal with the NBN. Pindimar have had a great return in their questionnaire on improvements needed for the area and results will be forthcoming shortly.

The interaction between the Conservatorium students and the Primary School students is always noisy and dynamic as the young pupils eagerly try out all the musical instruments and listen and watch how the instruments can be played in many different ways. Ella Jeong has performed in a number of concerts as a principal flutist. She has played with the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra and Sydney Wind Orchestra. Oboist, Joshua Ning, began learning music at an early age and explored many musical instruments, before eventually picking up the oboe at the age of 14. In 2019, Joshua was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Global Mobility Scholarship to embark on an exchange at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Oliver Harris is a french horn player with over 10 years experience within music ensembles and solo playing. After completing his studies at the Sydney Conservatorium, he aims to pursue further study at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne before auditioning for orchestras in Europe. Nicholas Zengoski began on the clarinet before picking up the bassoon at the age of 14. He is currently in his 3rd year at the Conservatorium . In 2019 he was selected as principal bassoon player for the Conservatorium Wind Symphony's tour of Spain. Their Concert will be held at The Hawks Nest Community Hall on Saturday 10th August at 2pm at a cost of $20.00. The Concert will include afternoon tea and a chat with the students. Tickets are available at the Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens Pharmacies and The Myall U3A. This is a not to be missed annual event at Hawks Nest Community Hall.

Christmas in July in the Cove By Kate MILFORD RESIDENTS and friends of North Arm Cove celebrated Christmas in July at their local hall on Saturday night 27 July. North Arm Cove community is only a small one but the people in it have big and generous hearts. During the year they celebrate International Women’s Day, The Biggest Morning Tea along with other fundraisers they have raised substantial funds over the years for many worthwhile causes. MIDCOAST Council’s second round of event sponsorship applications for 2019/20 will open on 1 August. For local event organisers holding events between 1 February 2020 and 31 July 2020, applications are invited for funding of up to $10,000, to be assessed based on the level of economic, social and cultural benefits generated through the event. Not only do local events connect the MidCoast’s vibrant communities, they help put the region on the map, attracting visitors from around the country and boosting our economy. From art shows and music festivals, to sporting events, food, fashion and everything in between, local events are a celebration of what the MidCoast is all about and Council is committed to supporting these great events that deliver benefits for the area’s 90,000+ residents. Depending on the scale of the event, four categories of funding are offered in the sponsorship program: ● Community event: Up to $2,000

Run to the Semi’s for Hawks By Neil REYNOLDS THE Tea Gardens “Hotel Hawks” are still in the still in the semi-final race after strong performances over the past weeks.
