Quills and Ink winners announced By Wendy BUSWELL THE winners of the inaugural Arts Gloucester Quills and Ink writing competition were announced on Saturday, 13 June. The competition grew from an idea by Arts Gloucester committee member James Hooke, who wanted to promote writing within the community. “I want writers to be valued, admired and nurtured,” said James. More than 60 entries were received from writers around Australia, with the competition open to all ages and genres.

Rider killed in Bulliac accident EMERGENCY services were called to Bundook Road, Bulliac, about 14km west of

Gloucester, just after 1pm following reports of a crash. Police officers attached

to the Manning/Great Lakes Police District attended where they found a motorcycle and a

utility vehicle had collided. The motorcycle rider, a 67-year-old man, died at the scene. The driver of the utility, a 29-year-old man, was

uninjured and was taken for mandatory testing. Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
