King of the Castle makes a splash for 2016 Framing the flume The flume which used to be located soley in the building, has begun its transition to the outdoors in the shape of a tower. The new flume will give users an interactive experience from start to finish, through themes and a countdown, push pads along the slide, concluding with a score at the end and a flume picture. Follow the flume’s construction progress in future newsletters.
The Magna Carta splash area is starting to take shape. Work on the splash area has stepped up a gear in recent weeks, with the design really coming to life thanks to Van Egdom. Using the history of the Magna Carta as inspiration, designer’s visions have now started to take shape - and will allow children to really use their imaginations when becoming King or Queen of the castle. The Magna Carta splash area will start off the ‘family’ swimming experience nicely here at ONE NK, there will now be something for all; from baby to toddler, teenager to adult. The success of the Woodland Splash area at Sleaford Leisure Centre, meant when going into the refurbishment project at ONE NK one had to be considered here as well. Cllr Mrs Marion Brighton OBE said: “As a district council, we have always been committed to
Arts & Leisure, and the physical health and wellbeing of our residents. Not many councils can stand proud to say they are still investing in this industry, but at North Kesteven, especially at this time, these facilities are more essential than ever”. The redevelopment of the centre has so far seen the opening of a new gym, cycling studio and three multi-use studios. The swimming pool and new changing facilities will open again in the Spring, with the Magna Carta splash and new flume.
