Downtown Ambassadors

The mission of the Downtown Ambassador Program is to create a more welcoming downtown environment for the Chico community. The Downtown Ambassadors is a citizen engagement opportunity where volunteers contribute to a clean and safe downtown. Ambassadors act as eyes and ears for public safety and social service partners by educating, assisting, and reporting as needed on various needs and problems. Ambassadors, who spend time downtown during the day, wear orange/yellow t-shirts, discourage anti-social behavior and pick up litter. They also work with homeless people, let them know about services and encourage them to seek shelter. The Ambassadors are a friendly source of directions, information, and assistance for the residents, visitors, business owners, merchants, students and the general public. Jesus Center Clean-Up Brigade

Performing cleaning services in the downtown corridor, two hours a day, six days a week, the Jesus Center Clean-Up Brigade not only keeps downtown clean, it also gives hope! The Brigade, consisting of four Jesus Center clients, has brought the group into contact with many business owners, community members and other homeless people. The Brigade exemplifies how collaboration among community groups such as the Jesus Center, the Downtown Chico Business Association and the North Valley Community Foundation can produce programs that simultaneously keep people off the streets and serve the community.

On February 1, 2014 the DCBA took under its wings the Downtown Ambassador Program and the Jesus Center Clean-Up Brigade. Funds are needed to continue to support these two difference-making programs. Please consider a donation of any size and make checks payable to Clean & Safe DCBA.
