Rapid moisture analysis Thermogravimetry is a simple and reliable analysis method for determining the mass proportion of individual components in liquid, pasty or solid materials.
The corresponding analytical unit consists of a heating unit and a precision analytical weighing system used to measure the change in the mass of a material as a function of the change in temperature over time. Depending on its specific boiling point, one component of the mixture evaporates faster than others. If the boiling temperature of an individual substance is known, the results can be used to determine the exact amount of the substance. Moisture analysis is a simple form of thermogravimetry. In this technique, the proportion of volatile substances in a material is measured at a certain temperature. This is called ‘moisture’. Water in the sample represents the major proportion. In particular, moisture analysis is omnipresent in the food analytics sector and is one of the most important standard parameters used in every form of food analysis.
