bracing for impact: fuel price surge challenges hardware retailers
South Africa could face a sharp inflationary shock in May, with fuel prices expected to surge — diesel by as much as R9 per litre and petrol by around R3. This surge will significantly impact hardware retailers, driving up transportation costs and squeezing already tight profit margins. Price-sensitive customers may delay purchases, further straining sales.
To navigate this challenge, retailers should focus on optimising logistics, consolidating deliveries, and exploring local suppliers to reduce transport costs. Transparent communication with customers about price adjustments and offering valuedriven promotions can help maintain loyalty. Proactive planning and adaptability will be
key for hardware retailers to weather this storm and sustain their businesses amid rising operational costs.
The Retailers Guide in this issue focuses on Woodcare and Rust solutions (page 21), Wadfow is expanding its automotive range (page 43), Northern Bolt and Tool opens Ingco Concept Store (page 66) and Power Build hosted a successful golf day for charity (page 70).
the profit myth
WHY TURNOVER DOESN’T EQUAL SUCCESS IN HARDWARE FRANCHISING
In the hardware and building materials industry, turnover is often worn as a badge of honour. Big numbers suggest a busy store, strong demand, and market relevance. But turnover alone is a misleading measure of success. The real driver of sustainable profitability lies not in how much you sell, but in how well you manage margin, product mix, and operational discipline.
Gross profit percentage (GP%) is the true indicator of a healthy business. A store pushing high volumes of low-margin products — like cement — may look successful on paper but often struggles to convert sales into meaningful profit. In contrast, businesses that actively manage their product mix, incorporating higher-margin, value-added items such as tools, fittings, and specialised building solutions, are far better positioned to drive bottom-line performance.
This is where understanding your local market becomes critical. No two areas are the same. Customer profiles, contractor needs, and price sensitivities vary significantly. A successful franchise recognises that while culture and systems should remain consistent, product mix and pricing strategies must be tailored to the local environment. A one-size-fits-all approach simply does not work in this industry.
Equally important is the role of systems and data. Having the right point of sale software, accurate product files, and
accessible management reports is non-negotiable. Franchise networks that provide pre-configured daily, weekly, and monthly reporting empower owners to make informed decisions quickly. With the right insights at hand, franchisees can track GP%, identify underperforming categories, and respond proactively to market changes. Structured operational guides — such as the TimBuild Owner’s Manual — further ensure that franchisees understand how to manage and use daily activities to protect and grow profitability. Another critical, yet often overlooked, factor is stock management.
Holding too much stock ties up cash flow, while poor controls lead to wastage. Broken products, damaged packaging, and pilferage quietly erode profit margins. Ultimately, stock is money sitting on your shelves. Creating a culture where every team member understands this is essential. When staff treat stock and assets with the same care as cash, the impact on profitability is immediate and measurable. Sales team capability also plays a significant role. Increasing basket size through effective upselling is one of the simplest ways to improve margins. This requires consistent sales training and a deep understanding of customer needs. When staff can confidently recommend complementary products and solutions, they not only increase revenue per transaction but also enhance customer experience and loyalty.
At its core, profitability in hardware franchising is about discipline, insight, and alignment. Choosing the right franchise partner is therefore crucial. It’s not just about brand recognition — it’s about whether the franchisor understands the mechanics of a profitable business and can provide the systems, training, and support to execute it effectively.
In the end, a franchise only succeeds when its franchisees do.

retailers guide to wood care products, rust prevention and conversion solutions
Retailers are no longer simply selling products, they are expected to be knowledgeable when it comes to preservation and protection products requested by customers. Their problem could be a timber deck exposed to harsh summer sun, a boundary fence weathering coastal air, or a steel gate beginning to show early signs of corrosion, and they are actively looking to solve these issues.
This edition of our Retailers Guide focuses on two critical maintenance categories that most customers can relate to: Wood care products & rust prevention and conversion solutions.
Protecting timber
Wood remains one of the most widely used materials across most applications. From decking, pergolas and cladding to doors, windows, furniture and fencing, timber requires ongoing maintenance to maintain both appearance and structural integrity.
For retailers, wood care is a layered system approach that includes:
• Pre-treatment and preservatives
• Wood fillers and repair compounds
• Oils and penetrating sealers
• Interior and exterior varnishes
• Stains and colour enhancers
• UV- and weather-resistant coatings.
Consumers are increasingly aware of environmental exposure, moisture ingress and UV degradation. This awareness creates an opportunity for retailers to educate customers on preventative maintenance – protecting timber before damage occurs. Restoring timber remains
a strong subcategory as well. Stocking a comprehensive range, supported by clear in-store advice and knowledgeable staff, positions your store as a trusted partner.
Combating corrosion
Rust is inevitable wherever metal meets moisture and oxygen. In coastal regions especially, corrosion is not a cosmetic issue – it is a structural and safety concern. Gates, burglar bars, roofing, agricultural equipment, tools, and DIY projects all require ongoing protection.
THIS CATEGORY SPANS:
• Rust removers and chemical treatments
• Rust converters (turning oxidation into paintable surfaces)
• Zinc-rich primers and anti-corrosive primers
• Direct-to-metal coatings
• Protective topcoats and enamels.
Rust conversion technology has evolved significantly, offering retailers the ability to provide easy-to-use solutions that transform active corrosion into stable, paint-ready surfaces. These products appeal strongly to DIY customers seeking cost-effective restoration alternatives to replacement.
Cross-selling and margin opportunities
Wood care and rust prevention categories encourage cross-selling with potential sales of products such as:
Seasonal shifts also influence sales patterns. Warmer months typically drive exterior timber treatment and repainting projects, while maintenance cycles in agriculture and industry sustain demand for rust treatments year-round. Make sure your store is positioned to take advantage of the demand this category creates. With increasing consumer access to online information, retailers must offer clarity, credibility, and practical guidance. Understanding the difference between a penetrating oil and a filmforming varnish, or between a rust remover and a rust converter, empowers your sales team to recommend the correct system.
In this guide, we explore leading solutions from participating suppliers in both categories, highlight key product innovations, and provide insight into how retailers can position these ranges for maximum impact in-store.

LIVE HANDS-ON
From bathrooms to building sites: One brand South Africans trust to seal it right
A customer who has tackled a renovation project, repair or onsite fix knows the frustration. A joint that cracks a few months later. A seal that lifts after the first rain. Adhesives that let go under vibration, moisture, or heat. Often, failure isn’t workmanship, it’s the product.
For DIY homeowners and small contractors, these problems are common. Projects are completed under time pressure, materials vary from job to job, and South African conditions are unforgiving. Heat, UV exposure, moisture, movement, and daily wear quickly expose inadequate sealing and bonding solutions.
Using the wrong product can lead to leaks, mould growth, loose fixtures, failed joints, and costly rework. Using the right one changes everything.
The difference lies in selecting a sealant or adhesive designed for the specific challenge at hand; one that can bond securely to multiple surfaces, remain flexible over time, resist water, and weather exposure, and be easy to apply. When the seal or bond is right, the job lasts. When it isn’t, the problem always returns.
Sealing and bonding are no longer simple finishing steps. Modern buildings, renovations, and installations involve materials that expand, contract, and move.
Bathrooms and kitchens demand hygienic
sealing that can withstand constant moisture. Exterior joints must cope with sun, rain, and temperature extremes. On-site and mobile work requires products that perform reliably first time, every time.
Generic, one size fits all, products simply aren’t designed for these demands. Purpose designed solutions are. Make sure your customer selects the right product for the application.
This is where Sika has earned its reputation.
As South Africa’s number one sealing and bonding brand, Sika has built its leadership on performance, reliability, and innovation. Long trusted on major construction and infrastructure projects, Sika applies the same professional grade technologies to products developed for everyday DIY use and smallscale contracting work.
With decades of local experience and over a century of global expertise, Sika understands the conditions, materials and challenges faced on South African projects, from home renovations to active building sites. Its solutions are engineered to deliver strong adhesion, long-term flexibility and resistance to water, mould, UV exposure, and harsh environments. Just as importantly, they are designed to be practical. Easy application, consistent results, and dependable performance help users avoid callbacks, repairs, and unnecessary delays. Central to Sika’s continued innovation is Purform® technology, an advanced formulation developed to combine high durability with ultralow emissions. For users working indoors or in confined spaces, this means products
SEALANTS
that are safer and more comfortable to use, while still delivering the strength and longevity expected on professional sites.
Each Sika solution is developed for a clear purpose, whether that’s general sealing and bonding, strong initial grab, hygienic sealing in wet areas or durable joint protection in exposed conditions. This clarity takes the guesswork out of product choice and helps ensure each application performs as intended.
For DIYers and small contractors the goal is simple: work that holds and sealing and bonding that lasts. Choosing the right sealing and bonding solutions protects more than just surfaces and joints, it protects time, effort, and reputation.
That’s why across South Africa, from bathrooms to building sites, Sika remains the brand professionals trust and DIYers rely on. Retailers need no other reason to stock Sika products.
wadfow builds momentum with expanding automotive range
Following its introduction to the local market mid2024, WADFOW has quickly evolved from being ‘the new kid on the shelf’ to a brand retailers are actively building around.
Distributed by Skillcraft Agencies, the range has gained traction over the last 18 months particularly in the automotive category where WADFOW is now making some of its strongest gains. While the initial focus was on delivering accessible, value-driven power and
hand tools, the brand has since evolved into a far more comprehensive offering. The automotive category has grown into a serious drawcard for retailers looking to expand beyond traditional tool lines and tap into workshop, garage, and DIY servicing demand.
What sets WADFOW apart in automotive is not just price positioning, but the breadth of the range. This is not a limited add-on category; it is a fully developed segment that caters to both DIY users and more demanding workshop environments.
Feedback from the trade indicates that retailers are stocking the automotive range and actively promoting it. The category has proven to be more than a side-line; it has become a key drawcard for consumers.
Part of this success comes down to confidence in the supply chain and after-sales support. Backed by Skillcraft Agencies, WADFOW benefits from established infrastructure, reliable stock
availability, and access to spare parts. Retailers are also finding that the visual identity of the brand continues to work in its favour. The bold blue and orange design is undeniably eye-catching, and the value becomes evident once customers engage with the products.
WADFOW’s growth in automotive reflects a broader shift in how the brand is being positioned. Rather than being seen purely as an entry-level tool option, it is increasingly viewed as a practical, all-round solution for customers who want capability without premium pricing.
The continued expansion of the WADFOW range suggests that the
brand’s role in-store will only grow. With automotive already proving its worth, retailers who have embraced the category early are well positioned to benefit from ongoing product development and range extension.
For those not yet fully engaged, WADFOW is no longer just about entry-level tools. It has become a brand that is steadily building depth, with automotive leading the charge.

Power without Limits –INGCO introduces 42V battery platform
INGCO has taken a major step forward in cordless tool performance with the launch of its new P42M 42V lithium-ion battery platform. This ultra high-performance system is designed to rival high-powered AC and petrol-driven equipment.
Delivering up to 5000W of maximum power, the 42V platform opens the door for cordless tools to move into applications traditionally reserved for heavier, corded or fuel-powered machines. This next-generation system has been engineered specifically for demanding, heavy-duty tasks that standard 20V tools simply cannot handle.
With this launch, INGCO has been able to introduce a range of robust new tools that the 20V battery would not be able to power. These include a 230mm angle grinder, 235mm circular saw, 2360Nm and 3060Nm impact wrenches, as well as 35mm and 65mm demolition breakers. This marks a clear shift into highperformance territory.
The move from 20V to 42V is about more power and smarter power delivery.
Increased voltage means the system operates at a lower current, reducing heat generation and improving efficiency. Lower operating temperatures minimise energy loss and enhance overall tool longevity.
• Low-power applications see efficiency gains of up to 20%
• High-power tools achieve up to 100% improvement in work efficiency.
In practical terms, this translates into significantly better performance across demanding applications. For example, in angle grinding, the 42V system runs at 30A with a system temperature of around 60°C, compared to 60A and 90°C on a 20V equivalent – delivering cooler, more efficient operation.
// With the P42M 42V platform, INGCO is redefining what is possible in the cordless category //
ACROSS KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS, THE IMPROVEMENTS ARE SUBSTANTIAL:
• Up to 75% increase in overall performance
• 50% reduction in working current
• 33% lower system temperatures
• 35% faster cutting times
• Up to 40% more cutting output.
Despite the significant leap in capability, the 42V platform comes at a modest price increase over comparable 20V systems. This offers exceptional value for professionals looking to upgrade their equipment. With the P42M 42V platform, INGCO is redefining what is possible in the cordless category. This means retailers now have an opportunity to tap into the growing demand for high-performance, cable-free solutions that can replace traditional power sources without compromising on strength, efficiency, or value.
Recommending the right geyser for the eco-conscious homeowner
Hardware retailers are perfectly positioned to help customers navigate rising energy costs and environmental requirements. Homeowners are increasingly looking for water heating solutions that balance performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
At Kwikot, the focus is on equipping retailers with the knowledge to confidently recommend water heating solutions that satisfy these needs.
Understanding the strengths and limitations of each technology allows retailers to recommend the right solution for each customer’s needs, be it budget, energy savings, environmental considerations, or a mix of all three.
Electric water heaters remain the most common in South Africa. They are affordable, reliable, and easy to install, making them a staple in-store. However, they are energy intensive. While newer models offer improved efficiency, standard electric geysers are not inherently ecofriendly unless paired with smart controls and responsible use.
Kwikot’s ELON Smart range replaces a standard thermostat to make an electric geyser smart, connected and energy efficient. By allowing homeowners to monitor and control water heating from their smartphone, it ensures water
is heated only when needed, reducing unnecessary electricity use and preventing overheating. ELON Smart also makes existing electric geysers solar photovoltaic-ready, which can reduce electricity use by up to 70%, with most households seeing a return on investment within two to four years, making it a futureproof and low-maintenance solution for sustainability-focused customers.
Solar thermal water heating systems harness the sun’s energy to heat water, offering substantial electricity savings by up to 40% and a reduced carbon footprint.
South Africa’s climate, with over 2 500 hours of sunshine annually, makes this technology particularly effective. Kwikot offers both Direct systems, suited to frost-free and mild regions, and Indirect systems, which use a propylene glycol heat-transfer fluid to prevent freezing and scaling in colder inland areas. While solar thermal systems require higher upfront investment, they typically pay for themselves within three to five years.
Heat pumps are among the most energyefficient options available, using air-towater technology to extract heat from the surrounding air rather than generating it directly. This allows them to use 60%-70% less electricity than conventional electric geysers. From an environmental perspective, a single heat pump can reduce carbon emissions by 3 000 to 3 500kg per year, equivalent to planting 150 to 175 trees annually, with most systems paying for themselves within two to three years. When advising customers, retailers should consider key factors such as household size, hot water demand, installation space and budget, alongside environmental impact. By recommending energy-efficient technologies, promoting proper system maintenance, and introducing smart solutions like ELON Smart, retailers can position themselves as trusted advisors while empowering homeowners to reduce their environmental footprint while securing reliable and cost-effective hot water for the long term.

It is in this consumer segment that South African users will especially feel the difference WAGNER can make. The DIY range combines advanced spray technology with easy handling, helping users complete renovation projects more quickly while achieving impressively smooth, streak free surfaces.

With ergonomically designed devices, adjustable controls and clever features that increase precision, WAGNER empowers users to paint efficiently without compromising quality. Beyond innovation, the company operates with a deep sense of responsibility: as it is owned by two charitable foundations, parts of its profits are reinvested into community initiatives that support students, families and children. The company’s philosophy also places strong emphasis on responsible practices, reflected in its commitment to renewable energy and its ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact throughout production.
Product Highlights for South Africa
One of the most exciting innovations for the South African market is the WAGNER W 600 FLEXiO 18V. This cordless spray system delivers complete freedom of movement, allowing users to tackle small or large projects around the home and garden without depending on a power outlet. Its compatibility with all BOSCH 18V POWER FOR ALL batteries offers tremendous convenience, while the brushless motor ensures optimized battery life, high atomization performance and long service durability. Thanks to the spray attachments included in the box, both interior wall paints and thinner coatings such as lacquers and stains can be applied with ease. Users can adapt the material volume and air volume to their preferred pace, while the innovative I Spray nozzle ensures precise atomization and a uniformly covering finish. Whether the spray pattern is set horizontally, vertically or as a fine spot jet, results remain consistently clean and even.
For DIYers looking for a versatile companion for outdoor projects with lacquers and stains – and for refreshing the occasional interior wall – the WAGNER W 590 FLEXiO proves to be an exceptionally adaptable all rounder. With two spray attachments included, it is equipped for both thick wall paints and thinner wood coatings. At the core of the device is the powerful X Boost turbine, which enables the application of many standard materials without thinning. Combined with the I Spray nozzle, it ensures excellent coverage and a fine, homogeneous spray pattern. Users can adjust both air and paint output seamlessly, allowing for perfect control throughout the project. The W 590 FLEXiO also offers the ability to tailor the spray direction and width to the surface at hand, making it exceptionally versatile for walls, furniture, doors or garden items. Delivered in a practical carry case, it is a dependable companion for anyone planning frequent renovation work.
For even more comfort during extensive wall and ceiling projects, the WAGNER W 950 FLEXiO simplifies painting at height. Its 70 centimetre spray lance makes it possible to coat ceilings and tall walls without ladders or physical strain. The system draws paint directly from the bucket, feeding it through the lance for continuous, uninterrupted application. The result is effortless spraying with perfect coverage in no time at all. Cleaning is also pleasantly simple thanks to the integrated self cleaning function, which flushes the system in a matter of minutes. With the included adapter and an additional spray attachment, the W 950 FLEXiO can be used not only for wall paints but also for lacquers and stains, making it a comprehensive tool for ambitious home renovators. For users who desire the performance of true airless technology, the ControlPro 250 M stands out as an exceptional choice. This airless sprayer is part of WAGNER’s HEA (High Efficiency Airless) generation, designed to combine optimum working pressure with significantly reduced overspray. The lower spraying pressure enables cleaner, more controlled work and up to 55 percent less spray mist compared to conventional airless devices. This reduces material consumption, increases precision and creates a more relaxed spraying experience, even for beginners. The reduced recoil and smoother trigger action make operation noticeably easier and less tiring. The ControlPro 250 M is well suited for a broad range of materials, from emulsion paint and latex paints to lacquers, varnishes and wood preservatives, allowing users to achieve professional-looking, streak-free surfaces throughout the home.
A Faster Way to a Better Finish
As WAGNER strengthens its footprint in South Africa, retailers and consumers alike can look forward to a brand that brings together decades of engineering excellence and outstanding customer support. Whether cordless innovations, versatile all round systems or high-efficiency airless solutions, WAGNER empowers every user to paint smarter, faster and better. Outdoor timber decks and exterior wood features continue to be popular additions to South African homes. While the initial installation is a strong sales opportunity, the real long-term value for retailers lies in maintenance. Selling the first treatment is important - but offering an easy followup solution is where repeat business is built. That’s where Woodoc DECK Dressing MAINTENANCE fits in.
THE
MAINTENANCE
OPPORTUNITY
Hardwood decks that have already been treated with Woodoc DECK Dressing have a solid protective foundation. Over time, though, exposure to sun, rain and regular foot traffic starts taking its toll. The surface can look dull and weathered, and many customers assume they need to strip everything back and start from scratch. That perception alone is often enough to delay the job.
Woodoc DECK Dressing MAINTENANCE removes that obstacle.
This clear, low-gloss maintenance product is designed specifically for exterior timber that has previously been treated with Woodoc DECK Dressing. In most normal maintenance situations, there is no need for heavy sanding or stripping back to bare wood. Usually, just a thorough clean with mineral turpentine to remove dirt and loose contaminants before reapplication is all the preparation that is required, ensuring simplicity. This is a key sales advantage for retailers.
turn every deck into repeat business
Woodoc DECK Dressing MAINTENANCE gives hardware retailers a simple, low-prep way to help customers protect exterior timber — and return for repeat purchases.
MINIMUM PREPARATION IMPROVES SALES
Customers are far more likely to maintain their decks when the process feels straightforward. When sales staff can explain that Woodoc DECK Dressing MAINTENANCE does not require a full strip-back, it immediately lowers the barrier to purchase. Application is simple: stir well and apply evenly with a good-quality brush, working with the grain.
The clear, low-gloss finish refreshes the existing coating. The deck looks revived, protection is restored, and the natural character of the wood remains intact.
The ease of use makes it an ideal add-on sale whenever:
• A customer buys Woodoc DECK Dressing
• Hardwood decking or -exterior furniture is purchased
• Exterior cleaning products are being selected
Positioned correctly, it becomes a routine maintenance solution.
BUILDING REPEAT BUSINESS
From a retail perspective, maintenance lines drive long-term profitability. Deck installations happen in cycles; maintenance happens regularly. By advising customers at the point of the original sale that ongoing care is simple with Woodoc DECK Dressing MAINTENANCE, retailers create a natural return cycle and strengthen brand loyalty.
Simple in-store pairing of Woodoc DECK Dressing with its MAINTENANCE companion will encourage cross-selling. The message of minimal preparation should be loud and clear, ensuring customers are not intimidated.
// When maintenance is simple and requires minimal preparation, customers don’t postpone the job, and retailers secure the repeat sale //
The retail advantage Woodoc DECK Dressing MAINTENANCE gives customers a straightforward way to extend the life of their exterior wood, while giving retailers a reliable, high-margin add-on.

CONCEPT STORE
northern bolt and Tool launches ingco concept store
The expansion of INGCO Concept Stores across South Africa continues to build momentum, with the latest opening at Northern Bolt and Tool on 27-28 March delivering exactly what the format is designed to do — drive foot traffic and convert it into sales.
The Concept Store model takes INGCO’s retail strategy to the next level, creating a dedicated, high-impact space that puts the full strength of the brand on display. The focus is one that maximises visibility, simplifies the buying experience, and moves product.
The response from customers was evident. Long before the official ribbon cutting at 8am, the queue grew steadily with some arriving as early as 4am to secure access to opening deals.
As doors opened, the store quickly became a ‘sea of yellow’, with INGCO tools moving in volume from the outset. The strong turnout had to be managed at the entrance to ensure the store coped with the capacity and to allow customers to have a pleasant shopping experience.
The opening was built around a clear promotional strategy designed to reward early shoppers and create urgency. Customers received a broadsheet showing the specials
along with tokens for a ‘buy me, get me free’ offer. These were limited and given on a firstcome, first-served basis, ensuring strong early demand and quick sell-through.
Additional specials ran while stocks lasted, further reinforcing the need for customers to act quickly. Added touches, such as free coffee for the first 100 customers, rewarded customers for their loyalty.
Northern Bolt and Tool took the ‘Captive Audience’ opportunity to promote upcoming demo and training sessions and its regular ongoing specials, although the opening focus was still on driving immediate sales.
For Northern Bolt and Tool, the Concept Store is the result of a long-standing relationship with INGCO.
Fred, Gilian, and Stuart Konig expressed their excitement at seeing the store come to life, having ‘walked a long path with INGCO’. The investment reflects a strong belief in the Concept Store model and its ability to deliver measurable returns.

Customer feedback on the day captured the essence of INGCO’s appeal.
When asked if the opening was all he expected, a customer replied: “Yes, and more — being a dedicated fan of INGCO tools, this concept store opening has given me the opportunity to stock my workshop in one swoop — something I never dreamed I would be able to afford.”
This speaks directly to one of INGCO’s key strengths: Offering a value for money combination of price and range that enables customers to purchase in bulk, whilst being assured of the best after sales service that has become synonymous with the INGCO brand.
The Northern Bolt and Tool opening reinforces what the Concept Store model is built to achieve:
• Strong brand visibility
• High customer turnout
• Immediate sales conversion
• Increased basket size.
For retailers, it’s a proven way to unlock additional revenue from existing floor space whilst also driving these clients into the existing space. For customers, it’s a destination that makes tool buying accessible, engaging, and value driven. It translates into a one-stop-shop where their Power and Hand tool needs are met alongside having access to other hardware products from the host retailer.

GOLF DAY
Power Build tees off for a winning cause
Power Build’s 3rd Annual Charity Golf Day took place on 17 March at Wingate Country Club, where a sea of green made it unmistakably clear that it was St Patrick’s Day. In support of various charities, 33 four-balls took to the fairways.
This year’s event introduced several fresh elements that kept players engaged from the outset. Registration was reimagined as a ‘Hive’ – a collection of 12 sponsor stands that golfers had to navigate before tee-off. Each stop added an interactive touch, with participants collecting stickers and gifts along the way, ensuring strong engagement with every brand involved.
Out on the course, the day combined traditional competition with a few twists. The playing format, a first for the event, required teams to rotate their tee-off player on each hole, with the rest of the team playing from that position. Scores reflected both ends of the spectrum – the lowest score counted, but so did the highest – ensuring every player had a direct impact on the team’s result.
Adding to the pressure was the ‘Tee Police Rule’, penalising teams whose tee-off rotation slipped, while ‘Rescue Mulligans’, courtesy of Matus, gave struggling players a chance to recover – or avoid penalties altogether.
Two designated ‘Power Holes’ raised the stakes further, requiring all four players to tee off and count their scores. Meanwhile, competitions such as Nearest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Hole-in-One, and the everpopular Yellow Ball Challenge kept things competitive throughout the day.
Around the course, sponsors ensured there was never a dull moment. From chipping challenges and guess-the-number games to inventive prize stations, players were treated to a steady flow of food, refreshments, and oncourse entertainment. A standout activation came from Vermont Sales, who hosted a putting competition with prizes awarded in a uniquely interactive way. The Display stand at the putting green, complete with all the products was the prize for a golfer getting a hole in one.
