We’re proud to offer six river cruises with CroisiEurope, all with the added security and comfort of a dedicated Newmarket Holidays tour manager.
When you book a CroisiEurope cruise with Newmarket Holidays, flights are included as part of your package. We offer departures from a range of regional airports across the UK, making it simple to start your holiday closer to home.
Take in the European capitals that line the Danube, or perhaps explore the picturesque lavender-hued landscapes of Provence with a journey on the Rhône. In Normandy, a sailing along the Seine showcases the impressionist havens of Honfleur and Giverny as well as Paris, the ‘City of Light’.
If culinary exploration is more your style, a trip across Portugal’s Douro Valley is the ideal choice, while cruises along the mighty Rhine showcase the medieval treasures of four countries. The latest addition to our river cruise collection, the magnificent Guadalquivir, promises the perfect way to experience the Moorish treasures of Andalucía.
You’ll enjoy a host of included excursions which showcase the finer details of each port of call during your sailing. From guided city tours to wine tastings at traditional local vineyards, these activities showcase the best of each destination.
It’s your river cruise and you’ll have the opportunity to embrace it the way you want to. During days at leisure, you’ll be free to make the most of the ship’s amenities, step ashore for some self-guided exploration or perhaps join a fascinating optional excursion which promises to bring you closer than ever before to each port of call.

To help you explore the variety of touring styles within our cruising holidays, look for the colours and symbols displayed across each itinerary page. Each CroisiEurope vessel is purpose-built with spacious private cabins and elegant public amenities to ensure you have a cosy base to unwind in between each excursion.
Included on every ship is a Pianorama bar, perfect for a drink with a view, as well as elegant dining areas, 24-hour concierge services, and an expansive sun deck with loungers. Selected ships also boast swimming pools on deck and souvenir shops.
Across your sailing, there will also be themed entertainment, on-board activities and dance evenings to help you make lasting friendships and lifelong memories on board.

Everything is taken care of, from French-inspired cuisine to a dedicated tour manager, so all you have to do is relax.

All cabins sit above the waterline, so whether you’re watching mist lift from a river valley at dawn or castles drift past on the afternoon current, the view is always with you. Portholes or large picture windows frame the landscape depending on your ship and deck.
Inside, everything is designed for comfort. Cabins are airconditioned with an adjustable thermostat, and each one comes with a private shower room stocked with towels, shower gel and shampoo. A flat-screen TV, hairdryer, safe and plenty of storage mean you have everything you need for a relaxed and unhurried journey.
Bed configurations vary across the fleet, with options including twin beds, a double or two beds that convert to a twin arrangement. On-board voltage is 220V. A selection of ships also offer cabins specially adapted for customers with reduced mobility.

With a long history in river cruising, CroisiEurope combines experience, comfort, and attentive service across its fleet.

Your holiday begins today with a flight to Vienna, where you’ll be welcomed by your friendly local tour manager. This evening, head to the Danube waterfront and board your ship with a welcome cocktail.
Day Two Sail to Dürnstein via Melk
Today, you’ll visit the exquisite town of Melk, crowned by its magnificent Benedictine monastery, on an included excursion. After some time exploring this exquisite landmark, you’ll return to the ship and continue along the idyllic Wachau Valley to Dürnstein. Arriving later this afternoon, you’ll then head back out alongside your tour manager for an introduction to this charming medieval town. Reboard the ship this evening for dinner on the Danube and the onward journey into Slovakia.
Day Three Sail from Bratislava to Kalocsa
Wake up in lively Bratislava, the historic Slovakian capital, this morning and get ready for another memorable day’s exploration. Afterwards, disembark and join your tour manager to discover the city’s major highlights. This afternoon, head back to the ship and set sail eastwards as you settle in for dinner.
Day Four Sail from Kalocsa to Budapest
Enjoy breakfast on board and embrace a day at leisure as you cruise along the ‘blue’ Danube. You can make the most of the ship’s facilities, perhaps taking in the region’s idyllic riverside vistas from the sundeck or stopping for a cocktail or two in the lounge area. Alternatively, you can venture into the Puszta, a vast UNESCO -listed grassland which was seen as the Wild West of Hungary in the 19th century. Later this evening, head back to the ship for your onward journey to Budapest.
Day Five Day in Budapest

After taking in Buda’s eclectic mix of medieval, baroque and gothic architecture, you’ll climb Castle Hill and can marvel at the intricate exteriors of the Royal Palace. This afternoon is at leisure, and you’ll be free to book your own optional excursion at the ship’s reception. If you’d like a more in-depth glimpse into Hungary’s thermal baths, return to Széchenyi Baths and experience their healing waters, saunas, pool and spa facilities for

yourself. You can also visit Budapest’s Market Hall, with opportunities to soak up the scents, sounds and sights of everyday life in the Hungarian capital. This evening, a final optional excursion, showcasing the dances, dress and folklore of Hungary’s earliest cultures, will be available at one of the city’s downtown theatres. Finish the day back on board the ship as it sets sail for Esztergom.
Day Six Sail to Vienna via Esztergom
This morning, you’ll arrive in Esztergom, one of Hungary’s oldest cities. Here, you’ll have a couple of hours to explore under your own steam. Later, continue cruising to Vienna, enjoying a gala dinner as the sun goes down.

It’s the final day of your cruise, and once you’ve had breakfast, you’ll be free to spend it the way you want to. If you’d like, you can book an optional half-day tour to the spectacular Schönbrunn Palace. In the evening, one final optional excursion will be available, and you can step back into the time of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Sisi with a night at the opera accompanied by a sparkling wine reception.

MAIN DECK

Loudspeaker announcements are made ahead of shore excursions, key events and points of interest along the river. They can be heard on deck and in your cabin, with the volume fully controllable from within your cabin.
Please note: On board, information and warnings are communicated in French and in English. They may also be advertised in another language, depending on the nationality of the passengers on board.
A range of activities and entertainment are provided on board. Before dinner, games and quizzes are hosted by entertainers in the lounge bar. On the sun deck, where you can stroll alone, be with family or friends or sit comfortably in the sun loungers, fitness sessions are organised in the morning. The panoramic lounge bar, the library and the “piano bar” (the latter two are available on some ships only), are refined and furnished with taste. Often, lectures on subjects related to the history and geography of the places visited, are offered in the lounge bar. Some evenings, the dance floor of the lounge bar comes to life with musical evenings, folk groups or singers. The lounge-bar is where on board entertainment is hosted.
Casual, comfortable clothing is recommended during the day. As there are no ironing facilities available on board, it is advisable to bring clothing that travels well and does not crease easily. Clothing should also be suited to the weather, season and destinations visited during the cruise. Lightweight clothing and swimwear are ideal for warmer weather, while a sweater or jacket is recommended for cooler evenings. A waterproof jacket and small umbrella may also be useful. For dinners, cocktails and gala evenings, slightly smarter attire is recommended, although a jacket and tie are not required for gentlemen. When visiting places of worship during excursions, appropriate clothing should be worn out of respect for local customs.
The ships reception team will be available to fulfil your individual requirements (e.g. reservation of tickets for cultural experiences or special excursions, organisation of transfers). They’re available 24 hours for any request.
Please observe the valid customs tariff regulations when importing and exporting goods and foreign currencies.
Daily programmes will be placed in the public areas in the cabins, and will be available on ship board TVs.
On the sun deck, you’ll find deckchairs and a sun canopy. In the interest of all passengers, please don’t reserve deckchairs. Woollen blankets for cooler weather on deck can be found in the in the public area before you reach the sun deck.
Not all ships are suitable for passengers with restricted mobility. Please reach out for advice on the vessels and itineraries best suited to your needs.
The water on board is drinkable. You’ll find a carafe in your cabin which can be refilled in the lounge at the water fountain. This can produce still or sparkling water.
Almost all ports of call are starting points for interesting shore excursions. For more information, please see our website. Please Note: All excursions are subject to minimum and maximum numbers.
In the EU, you can leave the ship as soon as we dock. In non-EU countries, you can only leave the ship after permission is granted by the local authorities. In your own interest, we request that you are back on board no later than 30 minutes before we cast off. The docking times may change at short notice. Please pay attention to announcements and information in the daily programme.
A hairdryer can be found in your cabin.
All of the cruises featured in this brochure are international and may have guests of multiple nationalities on board. All the crew are English speaking.
You can find the planned itinerary in the brochure. The information is subject to change. High and low water, maintenance work and waiting times at locks and bridges due to shipping traffic may result in short-notice changes to the itinerary. In rare cases of extremely high or low water or force majeure, parts of the itinerary may have to be completed by bus or train and in individual cases, overnight stays in hotels may be necessary.
This card is your cabin card. Please always carry your key with you. In case of loss, please notify the reception immediately.
The on-board currency is Euros. During the cruise, you can use your on-board account on the ship, and this also acts as your cabin’s key card. At the end of the cruise, you can pay your final bill either in cash, debit card or with the following credit cards: American Express, MasterCard or Visa.
Only Euros are accepted on board the ships; Sterling, US dollars and other currencies cannot be used. Traveller’s cheques are also not accepted, and cash exchange facilities are not available on board. It is recommended to arrive with Euros already prepared, or to withdraw cash from an ATM before boarding. You may also wish to notify their bank or credit card provider of their travel plans to avoid any issues using cards abroad.
Whether you’ve booked a cruise holiday with us or you’re trying to decide where to visit next, we’ve put together some essential information to help you before you travel. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and we’ll be happy to assist.
In some towns, it’s usual for the port authorities to assign several ships the same mooring area due to the large volume of shipping traffic. In such cases, the ships are moored next to each other and you may not be able to see out of your cabin properly and you may need to exit across other vessels whilst going ashore. Boarding and check-in on the ship is indicated on your boarding pass provided in your final travel documents. If you arrive earlier in the day, you can generally leave most of your luggage on board our ships. If arriving as part of one of our groups, Newmarket Holidays will also inform our ships that you will be arriving earlier, when booking. At the end of the cruise, the landing is usually scheduled for 9:00 am for all passengers. If your flight is later in the day, you will generally be able to store luggage on the ship followed by free time, prior to your scheduled flight home.
Guests can expect selected soft and alcoholic drinks all day (including beer, wine, selected spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, water, speciality teas and coffee), daily snacks in the lounge, a delicious and well-balanced breakfast station, waiter served, daily changing, al a carte lunch and dinner. Many cruises also include seasonal extras such as sandwiches or a midnight snack. All-inclusive starts at check-in (this is usually 17:00) and ends at 9am on the last day. Outside of these hours specialty drinks may be chargeable.
Pets are not allowed on board the ship.
On the rivers of southern Europe, our boats are equipped with a removable or integrated swimming pool during the summer months. You can find bath towels in your cabin and in the public areas before reaching the sun deck.
The reception is open 24 hours a day.
Breakfast will be buffet style with a selection of hot and cold choices. Lunches and Dinner are al a carte and will be served with a daily changing menu. Please inform us at the time of your booking whether you require a special diet or suffer from allergies. Our cook will offer you a fully adapted and tasty menu. Mealtimes can be found in the daily programme.
You’ll need a full 10-year British passport (valid for a further six months on return to the UK). The Passport Office may be contacted on 0300 222 0000. British Citizens don’t generally require a visa to enter Europe for short visits although please refer to the detailed information on our website with regard to changes made following the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU). Citizens of other countries should contact the embassy of the country they’re travelling to for clarification. Newmarket Holidays cannot accept responsibility for entry or travel being refused due to the failure on the part of any customer to produce correct documentation.
In order to advise you of any accessibility issues, it’s essential that you let us have details of any special requests you may have at the time of booking. These holidays may be unsuitable for passengers who’re totally confined to a wheelchair, and may not be suitable for passengers with restricted mobility. Collapsible wheelchairs are most suitable but can only be used for shore use and must
Alain Bohn, head of CroisiEurope’s chefs, imagines, concocts and manages the menus served on board our ships. Menus are prepared in the pure tradition of French gastronomy. In 2013 he joined the famous associations of ‘Master Chefs of France’ and ‘Chaîne des Rôtisseurs’ an international gastronomic society. On certain cruises, specifically gastronomic or oenological, CroisiEurope is associated or partnered with Michelin starred chefs such as the late Paul Bocuse, Marc Haeberlin or Emile Jung.
You’ll find a safe installed in your cabin’s wardrobe, where you can store your personal valuables.
Make sure you pay attention to the safety notices and announcements or safety videos.
Here you’ll find a selection from our exclusive CroisiEurope collection: cosmetics, everyday commodities and souvenirs. The opening hours can be found in the daily programme.
Smoking is only permitted on the outdoor deck. Please don’t throw any cigarette butts overboard, but instead dispose of them in the containers provided. Throughout the entire indoor area and in the cabins, smoking is strictly prohibited.
The on-board voltage is 220 V/50 Hz. A dual voltage 220/110 V socket for electrically operated razors and toothbrushes can be found in the bathroom. It’s not suitable for other electrical appliances. In the cabin, there are also several other sockets (220 V) that can be used, but please note they take European two-pin plugs, so you’ll need to bring an adaptor.
If you’re following a special diet, please contact your restaurant chef at the start of your trip. Please notify us of any food allergies/intolerances prior to the start of your trip.
When passing under low bridges, depending on the water level, you may sometimes be required to leave the sun deck for safety reasons. Please pay attention to the crew announcements and the information signs.

Travel insurance can play an essential part in ensuring you enjoy peace of mind during your holiday, and appropriate cover is recommended on a Newmarket Holidays’ cruise abroad. You don’t need to purchase your travel insurance from us, but we do offer good value, comprehensive travel insurance - please call for details.
Approximately 7-14 days prior to departure, you’ll receive your final itinerary and joining instructions, provided all payments have been made. These will include details of your flights, rail timings and ship embarkation point, and will tell you anything else you need to know before you travel.
We endeavour to comply with any special requests you may have by passing them through to the ship, however,
Tipping practices vary widely between countries and cultures. At CroisiEurope, tips are discretionary, they are distributed equally among all crew members. This gesture from our passengers reflects their appreciation for the quality of service and attention they have received throughout their cruise, at every level. How much should I tip
A tip of €5 to €10 per person per day is a common guideline, but each passenger is, of course, free to give any amount they feel appropriate. For your convenience, an envelope will be placed in your cabin on your final evening aboard. You can leave it in the designated box at the reception desk when you disembark.
The TV reception is via satellite. While passing through locks and on certain parts of the journey, you may experience interference with reception. There are some international channels available.
You can program wake-up calls into your cabin telephone. You’ll find instructions in your cabin on arrival. Alternatively, reception will also be happy to give you a wake-up call.
All the CroisiEurope fleet are equipped with free Wi-Fi for passengers. This Internet connection is available in all lounges, bars, and receptions. Connection may be limited within your cabin. The Wi-Fi is free to use. For passengers who do not have computer equipment, each ship is equipped with a tablet which can be lent to them as/when needed.
we cannot guarantee that all such requests will be met, since they may be outside our control. Please note that we guarantee your cabin type as booked, and will do our best to accommodate cabin requests, but cannot guarantee a particular cabin.
One piece of airline hold luggage per person is included in the price. Weight and dimension limits will apply and vary between airlines. We’ll send you up-todate information about your hold and hand baggage allowance just prior to your departure. Keep your passport, important documents and medication in your hand luggage. Please note that non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin space.
All public areas of the ship are air-conditioned. Your cabin temperature can be individually adjusted. When you open the balcony door, the air circulation unit is automatically switched off.
To make sure everything is crystal clear, we’ve put together these simple Booking Conditions, which set out what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you, all in line with the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018. If anything is unclear, please feel free to contact us. Our team are always willing to help.

Additionally, as required by law, Newmarket Holidays Limited has protection in place to refund your payments and, where transport is included in the package, to ensure your repatriation in the event that we become insolvent. 1. Your booking
How your booking becomes a contract
Once we’ve accepted your booking and sent a Confirmation Invoice to the lead customer (the “lead name”), a legally binding contract is formed between Newmarket Holidays Limited (“we/us/our”) and everyone named on the booking (“you/your”). Your invoice will be sent to the lead name or, if you booked through a travel agent, to your agent.
The lead name’s role
By making a booking, the lead name confirms they have the authority to agree to these conditions on behalf of all travelling party members included on the same reference number, and that everyone in the party is aware of and agrees to them. The lead name is also responsible for ensuring all personal details provided are accurate, and for making sure all party members meet any entry requirements, including visas, vaccinations, and valid passports.
Please note, we are unable to accept bookings from unaccompanied customers under the age of 18. For bookings of ten or more customers travelling on a single booking reference, all correspondence, payments and instructions will be handled exclusively through the lead name. All payments – including deposit and final balance – must be made by bank transfer only. Individual passengers on a group booking may not make payments or amendments directly.
The law that applies
English law governs your contract and any disputes that arise. Legal proceedings must be brought in the courts of England and Wales, unless you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in which case you may bring proceedings in your home country’s courts and may choose to have your contract governed by the law of Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Getting in touch
You’re welcome to contact us by email for any booking queries, including amendment requests: customerservices@newmarketholidays.co.uk
If you booked through a travel agent, please be aware that we’ll deal directly with your agent. Any messages, requests or complaints passed to your agent will be processed by us as soon as we receive them. Please note we’re not responsible for advice given by your travel agent that didn’t originate from us.
How we protect your money
Your money is safe with us, and we want you to feel confident when you book:
• Non-flight bookings: Money paid to one of our authorised travel agents is held on your behalf until your booking is confirmed, then held on our behalf until passed to us.
• Flight-inclusive bookings: Your payments are protected under the Air Travel Trust. In the very unlikely event that we were unable to continue trading; your money would be safeguarded by the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust.
Making payments
Your Booking Confirmation will include an invoice showing deposit paid and final balance due (if not paid at the time of booking). Unless otherwise stated on your Confirmation Invoice, the balance of your holiday price is due not later than 12 weeks before the departure date. All payments (deposit and final balance) must be made by the Lead Name, or through your appointed travel agent. Please make sure your final payment reaches us by the date shown. We’ll send you a reminder, but if we don’t receive full payment by the due date, we may have to treat your booking as cancelled, and cancellation charges will apply (see Section A, Clause 4).
If you book within 90 days of departure, full payment is required at the time of booking.
If you later choose to upgrade your flights, we may ask for an additional deposit at that point.
3. Changes to your booking (by you)
If you’d like to make any changes to your confirmed booking, please let us know as soon as possible. All amendment requests must be submitted in writing by the Lead Name, by email or telephone (confirmed in writing), or through your travel agent. We will always do our best to help. Where a change can be made, the following charges apply:
Change Charge
Name change
Transfer to another date/ holiday (before balance due date)
Transfer to another date/ holiday (after balance due date)
Part cancellation of one or more customers
4. Cancellation (by you)
£50 per person + any supplier costs
£75 per person + any supplier costs
Cancellation charges will apply + costs of new booking.
Cancellation charges apply (see 4 below)
If you need to cancel your booking for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by the Lead Name, by email (customerservices@newmarketholidays.co.uk) or telephone (security questions will be asked and you will need to follow up by email), or through your travel agent.
Please note that if a cancellation results in one person travelling alone or no longer sharing a cabin, a single cabin supplement will be payable (this is separate from any cancellation charge).
The cancellation charge depends on how much notice you give:
Notice period before departure
Cancellation charge
Balance Due Date - 56 days before departure 35% or deposit paid if greater than 35%
55 – 49 days before departure 50%
48 – 35 days before departure
34 – 16 days before departure
15 days or less (including departure date)
On receipt of your cancellation, we will provide you with a Cancellation Invoice, showing the charge. If your reason for cancelling is covered by your travel insurance, you may be able to reclaim these charges (less any excess) from your insurer. You’ll need to pay the charges to us first and then claim them back.
5. Your travel conditions
Where your holiday includes travel by air, sea, rail, river or coach, the terms and conditions of the relevant
carrier or cruise operator will apply. These typically limit the carrier’s liability in line with applicable international conventions and regulations. Any claim for compensation for flight disruption under the relevant air passengers’ rights regulations should be made directly to the airline. As your tour operator, we are happy to provide you with the information you need to make such a claim. If anyone in your party is refused boarding or entry to a destination by a transport operator, cruise company or government authority, including where a medical condition or disability hasn’t been disclosed to us in time, we will always provide appropriate assistance with finding alternative arrangements and relevant contact information, but we may be limited in what we can do, and for the avoidance of doubt, cancellation penalties will apply.
Where transport operators, taxing authorities or exchange-rate movements result in changes to the costs of providing your holiday that fall within Section B, Clause 2 (Price of Your Holiday), we may revise the price strictly in accordance with that clause and never within 20 days of departure.
1. Our Confirmation of your booking
We’ll send your Confirmation Invoice within 24 hours of receiving your booking and deposit. This is our contract with you. Please check it carefully straight away; if anything looks incorrect, including all customer names and spellings, please contact us immediately. It is essential that all names match passport details exactly. We regret we can’t accept liability for inaccuracies not reported to us within 10 days of issue (or 5 days for Departure Documents), and charges may apply to rectify. This timeframe does not affect any statutory rights you may have to challenge errors arising through no fault of your own.
2. The price of your holiday
Once the price of your holiday has been confirmed at the time of booking, we will only increase it in the limited circumstances described below.
(a) When we may change the price. After your booking is confirmed, we may increase or decrease the price of your holiday only to reflect changes in the following costs:
(i) the cost of transporting you, including the cost of fuel or other power sources;
(ii) taxes, fees or charges for services such as tourist taxes, landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports, imposed by a third party not directly involved in performing your holiday; or
(ii) the exchange rates relevant to your holiday.
(b) How we calculate the change. Any price increase or decrease will correspond exactly to the change in the relevant cost. For example, if an airline notifies us that the fuel surcharge on your flights has increased by £30 per person, we will pass on a surcharge of £30 per person (less any amount we absorb under paragraph (c) below). We will provide you with a clear explanation of the increase and a breakdown of how it has been calculated.
(c) What we absorb. We will absorb, and you will not be charged for, any increase in the costs referred to in paragraph (a) above that is equivalent to 2% of the total price of your holiday (excluding any amendment charges and insurance premiums). Only amounts above this 2% threshold will be surcharged to you.
(d) When we will tell you. We will notify you of any price increase clearly and in writing (by email or letter) no later than 20 days before the start of your holiday. We will not increase the price of your holiday within 20 days of departure.
(e) If the increase is more than 8% of the total holiday price. If the total price increase (after the 2% absorption in paragraph (c) above) amounts to more than 8% of the total price of your holiday, we will notify you and offer you the following options:
(i) accept the price increase and continue with your holiday as booked;
(ii) accept a substitute holiday of equivalent or higher quality, where we can offer one (if the substitute is of lower quality, you will receive an appropriate price reduction); or
(iii) cancel your holiday and receive a full refund of all payments you have made to us, which we will pay within 14 days of cancellation.
We will give you a reasonable period in which to make your choice. If you do not respond within the time we specify, we will contact you again. If we do not hear from you after our second notification, we may treat your booking as cancelled and refund you in full.
(f) Compensation. If you choose to cancel under paragraph (e)(iii) above, you may also be entitled to compensation, depending on the circumstances. Compensation is not payable where the price increase results from unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (see Section B, Clause 6).
3. Pricing errors
We take care to make sure all advertised and quoted prices are accurate, but errors can occasionally occur. If we discover a pricing error after issuing your Confirmation Invoice, we will tell you as soon as possible and offer you the choice to (a) proceed at the correct price, or (b) cancel and receive a full refund of all payments made to us. Where the error was obvious — for example, where the quoted price was so low that you could reasonably have known it was a mistake — we will not be able to honour the booking at the incorrect price.
4. Data protection
To process your booking, we’ll collect personal data for everyone named on it. This data may be shared with suppliers and third parties as necessary to fulfil your holiday arrangements and comply with applicable law. For full details on how we use and protect your data, please visit:
www.newmarketholidays.co.uk/privacy
5. Changes and cancellation by us
We plan our holidays many months in advance, so occasionally changes are unavoidable. We’ll always let you know as soon as we possibly can. Most changes are minor and we must reserve the right to make these alterations due to many variable components of your package holiday which can be subject to changes beyond our control.
Minor changes include, but are not limited to:
Flight time changes of less than 12 hours
Change of airline or aircraft type
• Change from direct to indirect flight
• Change of carrier routing, including introduction of a transit stop, where total journey time increases by less than 12 hours
• Change of departure airport to an airport within 70 miles of the original departure airport
• Change of accommodation or cabin to same or higher standard in the same area
Substitution of individual accommodation, ground transport operators, cruise operators, or local suppliers with alternatives of equivalent or higher standard within the same destination area
• Reordering of itinerary elements, substitution of individual excursions or activities, or changes to scheduled ports of call where the overall cruise content and duration are preserved
• Withdrawal of a cruise or hotel facility that is beyond our control
Cancellation of an optional excursion No compensation is payable in these circumstances.
Significant changes include, but are not limited to:
• Flight changes of more than 12 hours
• Change of cabin category to a lower standard than that booked
• Change of the entire cruise itinerary which affects all the advertised ports of call
Hotel downgrade (where hotel accommodation forms part of your arrangements)
If we need to make a significant change, we’ll offer you the choice to:
Accept the revised arrangements (with a refund if the price is lower)
• Transfer to another available holiday at the current price, without charges
• Cancel with a full refund, which we will process within 14 days
In cases of significant changes, we will do our best to minimise the impact to your cruise.
Where a significant change is necessary and arises from circumstances within our direct control, you may be entitled to a price reduction and/or compensation, having regard to the nature and timing of the change and
any inconvenience caused. Where a significant change is caused by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (see Section B, Clause 6), no compensation will be payable. In all other cases involving a significant change, your entitlement to compensation will be assessed having regard to the nature and timing of the change. Minimum numbers
Some group holidays (including River Cruises) require a minimum number of bookings to operate. If this isn’t achieved, we reserve the right to cancel your booking but will notify you as soon as possible no later than the balance due date and we will always offer you an alternative.
6. Unavoidable & extraordinary circumstances
These are situations beyond our control whose consequences could not have been avoided even with all reasonable measures in place. Examples include but are not limited to:
• War, civil unrest, terrorism or industrial action (actual or threatened)
• Natural disasters, severe weather, floods, volcanic activity
Serious illness outbreaks at your destination
• Airport or airspace closures or flight restrictions
• Epidemics or pandemics
• Geopolitical events, regime sanctions, restrictions imposed by governmental or regulatory authorities, or the actions of third-party governments affecting airspace, transit routes or the provision of services by carriers, cruise operators or suppliers, whether or not at or near your holiday destination
• Significant and unforeseeable increases in the cost of, or withdrawal of, services by transport operators, cruise operators, accommodation providers, or ground operators resulting from any of the above circumstances Exceptionally high or low water levels on rivers which prevent or significantly restrict the safe navigation of cruise vessels
If such circumstances significantly affect your holiday before departure, you may be entitled to cancel and receive a full refund. However, please note that UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) travel advisories don’t automatically mean we’re unable to perform your holiday. They may affect your ability to travel rather than ours to deliver. We cannot pay compensation or meet costs arising from these circumstances. We will always do our best to ensure that your holiday is minimally impacted by working around affected areas, carriers or routes. A general FCDO advisory covering a broader region or country does not automatically entitle you to cancel without cancellation charges where your specific holiday destination, routing, and accommodation remain unaffected by the circumstances giving rise to that advisory. We will assess each situation individually and notify you promptly of our determination.
7. Our complaints procedure
We welcome feedback and take complaints very seriously. We really hope that you won’t need this section, but just in case you do, we are pleased to advise that Newmarket Holidays Ltd is a proud member of ABTA (membership number V7812). ABTA’s Code of Conduct requires us to maintain high service standards, and we offer access to ABTA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme and ABTA Arbitration if needed.
Whilst you’re on your cruise, if something isn’t quite right, please tell your Newmarket Holidays Tour Manager or the ship’s reception team, or the relevant hotel or supplier, straight away. You can also email our team on holidayhelp@newmarketholidays.co.uk. The sooner we know, the sooner we can try to resolve the issue. Any verbal complaints should also be put in writing to your Tour Manager or the ship’s reception team as soon as possible. If you don’t report a problem while you’re away, it may affect your ability to claim compensation, as we won’t have had the chance to put things right at the time. If a satisfactory resolution is not reached, please follow up in writing to our Customer Experience team at customerexperience@newmarketholidays.co.uk within 28 days of getting home. While we encourage early reporting so we can investigate effectively, your statutory rights are not affected by this timeframe. In the unlikely event that we can’t reach an amicable settlement, disputes can be referred to ABTA ADR or ABTA Arbitration, or the courts of England and Wales (or your home country if you’re in Scotland or Northern Ireland).

8. Your behaviour
By booking with us, you accept responsibility for any damage or loss you cause. This includes material damage to cabins, hotel rooms, the vessel, transportation (eg coach/minibus) or aircraft. Full payment for any damage must be made directly to the supplier or to us as soon as possible. You may also be liable for any claims subsequently made against Newmarket Holidays.
We reserve the right to end the holiday arrangements of anyone whose extreme behaviour puts the safety or wellbeing of others at risk, causes damage, disrupts travel, or the general enjoyment of others on the cruise or tour. In such cases, we will have no further obligation to provide your holiday arrangements, and no refund will be due. We will, however, provide reasonable assistance to help you arrange your return home, at your own expense.
1. Your holiday
We promise to arrange and provide your holiday with reasonable skill and care. We’ll accept responsibility if your contracted arrangements aren’t provided as agreed, or if you suffer injury, illness or loss due to the failure of our employees, agents or suppliers to exercise reasonable care. To bring a claim, you will need to show us that the loss or damage you have suffered was caused by a failure to provide the contracted service with reasonable skill and care. We will then consider your claim and let you know our position promptly.
We won’t be responsible for issues resulting from:
• Your own actions or omissions
• The actions of a third party unconnected with your holiday that were unforeseeable or unavoidable
• Services that do not form part of our contract (such as independently booked excursions)
Unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (see Section B, Clause 6)
Limits on compensation:
• For personal injury or death caused by our negligence, there is no upper limit on damages.
For all other claims, the maximum we’ll pay is three times the total holiday cost (excluding insurance and amendment charges), and only where you’ve received no benefit from your holiday at all.
• For claims relating to international travel by air, sea, river or rail, our liability is limited by the relevant international conventions (e.g. Montreal Convention, Athens Convention, COTIF). Strict time limits apply and any proceedings must generally be brought within 2 years of the relevant date.
2. Special requests & medical conditions, disabilities and reduced mobility
• Special requests should be made at the time of booking and confirmed in writing. We’ll do our best to accommodate them, but they can only be guaranteed if confirmed in writing on your Confirmation Invoice.
• Medical conditions, disabilities or reduced mobility must be declared at the time of booking. Please provide full written details so we can assess the suitability of the trip, make reasonable adjustments where possible and provide you with any additional information that you may require to make an informed decision yourself. If you have a requirement that is a condition of your booking, in other words you would not be able to travel without a certain request being fulfilled, we will confirm this on your booking if we are able to accommodate it. In some cases, we may be unable to accept your booking. If you fail to inform us of requirements that we later become aware of, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled.
Important: Please be aware that river cruise vessels do not have lifts, and you must be able to walk up and down stairs unaided. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are not permitted onboard river cruise vessels. All of our river cruise holidays will require a certain level of mobility and ability to embark and disembark aircraft, coaches, and the vessel itself, including using the vessel’s gangway which may be moored next to or adjoined to another vessel and could be steep. There may also be cases where you have to pass through another vessel to board or disembark.
3. Assistance while you are on holiday
• If you need help during your holiday due to an illness or injury unrelated to your booked arrangements, our Customer Operations team (holidayhelp@ newmarketholidays.co.uk) will provide advice and guidance to assist and support you. If a Newmarket
Holidays Tour Manager is onboard, they will also assist you.
Safety and security: We take this very seriously and keep up to date with FCDO advice at all times. When travelling abroad, please be vigilant and take the same care of your personal safety and belongings as you would at home. For up-to-date travel advice, visit: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice
1. Standards overseas
Local health, safety and quality standards at your destination may differ from UK standards. We require all hotels and cruise operators to comply with local regulations, and we hold our own audits to ensure that these are met. However, we cannot guarantee that they will match British standards.
2. Travel insurance
Travel insurance is a condition of booking with us. Please ensure you have appropriate cover in place at the time of making your booking. Failure to take out a suitable policy immediately means that you could lose your deposit if you’re unable to travel for medical or other insurable reasons. Full cover for medical reasons is also essential when you are overseas.
If you choose not to take out appropriate insurance, you accept responsibility for meeting costs that insurance would otherwise have covered.
Booking details
Please make sure all names match passports exactly — this is essential for flights and insurance. If a name changes between booking and travel (e.g. after a wedding), please let us know as soon as possible. If there’s no time to update the passport, carry your marriage certificate with it.
Delays
If services are delayed both outbound and inbound due to circumstances beyond our control, we’ll keep you fully informed and do our best to help. For extended overnight delays, we’ll endeavour to arrange accommodation where possible.
Special requests
We’ll always do our best to accommodate requests such as specific cabin locations or dietary requirements, but these cannot be guaranteed.
Itinerary
Your final itinerary and departure documents will be sent 7–10 days before departure, once all payments are received. We’ll always aim to operate the itinerary as planned, but occasionally circumstances beyond our control – including river conditions, weather, lock closures or port availability – may require adjustments. The ship’s crew will keep you informed of any changes and provide suitable alternatives wherever possible. The ship’s captain’s primary mission is the safety of passengers on board. Regardless of the ship or the destination, the captain is the sole master on board and may decide at any time to divert the ship or cancel a port of call. The ship’s captain may cancel the cruise or modify the itinerary of the cruise if they judge it appropriate to the interests of passengers and the safety of the vessel.
River cruise plus tour/accommodation
While some River Cruise plus tour/accommodation extensions are accompanied by your Tour Manager, others are hosted by a local representative or expert guide, and some are designed for independent exploration, giving you the freedom to enjoy your surroundings at your own pace.
Group sizes
Our group sizes vary depending on the destination, cruise itinerary and time of year. River cruise vessels have a fixed passenger capacity and may operate with a full ship or a smaller group depending on the departure. You can ask our Holiday Planners for more information based on your chosen cruise.
Flights
All prices are based on economy class travel. We reserve the right to substitute an alternative airline
We’re pleased to work with Holiday Extras to offer fully comprehensive travel insurance. You can find details on our website or ask our team for more information.
3. Financial protection and repatriation
Flight-inclusive holidays: Newmarket Holidays Ltd holds ATOL number 2325. When you purchase an ATOLprotected holiday, you’ll receive an ATOL Certificate listing the protected elements. If we or our suppliers are unable to provide your arrangements due to insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may step in at no extra cost to you. Non-flight packages: We’re a member of the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT), membership number 5509, which provides financial protection under the Package Travel Regulations 2018. This covers refunds if you haven’t yet travelled, and repatriation if travel was included.
Bookings made outside the UK are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly from Newmarket Holidays Limited.
If you need assistance abroad due to our financial failure, please call ABTOT’s 24/7 helpline: 01702 811 397

4. Passport, visa, immigration and health requirements
Meeting passport, visa and entry requirements is your sole responsibility. Please check requirements with the
or aircraft if needed. Cabin upgrades on long-haul flights must be requested before the balance due date. Ryanair passengers must check in online or face airport check-in fees.
Flight timings
Timings given at booking are based on schedules available at that time and may change. Final timings will be confirmed with your departure documents — please check these carefully.
Airport transfers
To offer competitive prices and a wide choice of UK departure airports, we sometimes need to combine transfers. You may be asked to wait up to an hour at the airport for other flights, and transfers back to the airport may be up to three hours before your flight.
Fitness to travel
Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any special needs, disabilities or mobility requirements, or if you plan to bring equipment such as a CPAP machine. If you’ve recently had a serious medical condition, please consult your doctor before travelling. We reserve the right to request a fitness-to-fly certificate if required while you’re overseas. Please note that wheelchairs and mobility scooters are not permitted onboard river cruise vessels, and you must be able to walk up and down stairs unaided.
Medical assistance on board
There is no nurse or doctor on board the ships across the fleet. In the event of an emergency, the purser will contact the nearest hospital or medical service, the boat will make a stop-over so that medical care can be provided as quickly as possible to the person. A defibrillator is available on board each boat. On board, at least two people hold the Lifeguard Rescuer at Work certificate and have been trained to use this device. If you’re worried about a health problem, please consult your doctor before going on your cruise and undergo a complete check-up. Finally, do not forget to bring any medication packaged in their labelled boxes) and the corresponding prescriptions. Have them renewed if necessary before your departure.
Cabin accommodation
Prices are per person based on two people sharing a twin or double cabin. Single cabins are available with a supplement. Triple cabins are not available on river cruise vessels. Some seasonal facilities may not be available at the start or end of season.
Luggage onboard
Our river cruise partners have rules regarding items that guests are not permitted to bring onboard. These rules ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. The following items are not permitted onboard river cruise vessels:
• Weapons, firearms, knives and sharp objects (except for personal grooming)
relevant embassies and consulates before booking and before you travel.
For travel to European Union countries: your passport must have at least 3 months’ validity from your return date and must be less than 10 years old on your departure date. Please also check any vaccination or health requirements for your destination before booking.
5. EU Entry/exit system (EES) and ETIAS EES: The EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) became fully operational on 10 April 2026 and requires British nationals travelling to the Schengen area to register biometric details (fingerprints and photo) on first entry. This replaces passport stamping. Please allow extra time at border controls. The latest information can be found at https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees. Please note that Irish passport holders and British passport holders with EU residency are currently excluded from EES registration requirements. For customers travelling via Eurostar, a dual British and French/Belgian border is in operation at St Pancras International, meaning EES processing takes place at the station, and no further border check is required on arrival at your destination. ETIAS: From last quarter of 2026 (exact date to be confirmed), British nationals will also need an ETIAS visa waiver before travelling to the EU. This is expected to cost €20 per person and must be obtained before travel. The latest information can be found at etias.com. We’ve partnered with the Travel Visa Company to help, details here: https://www.thetravelvisacompany.co.uk/ newmarket-holidays/?sup=NMH
Explosives, fireworks, flammable materials or hazardous substances
• Large electrical appliances (irons, steamers, hot plates, kettles) due to safety concerns
• Illegal drugs or controlled substances
• Pets
Guests are generally not permitted to bring their own alcohol onboard. Alcohol purchased ashore may be stored for you but not consumed until the end of the cruise. Prescription medications should be brought in their original packaging, and you may need a doctor’s note if travelling with certain controlled medications. Please pack efficiently to ensure storage space in your cabin.
If you plan to take part in any independent excursions, activities or tours, you must follow agreed procedures for notifying the ship’s crew prior to departure. You must also ensure that you have appropriate travel insurance to cover you for all such activities. If you undertake independent excursions and fail to meet the vessel’s scheduled departure time, you will be solely responsible for all costs incurred as a result.
Please note that flights and other services including any independent excursions, activities or tours that you purchase separately, and not through us, do not form part of your contract with us. Your contract will be with the provider of the service and not with us, and we shall not be responsible or liable for the provision of any such service or for anything that happens during its provision.
