New Hall School Careers Programme 2024/2025 – Years 10, 11 Intent: The Careers Programme for students in Years 10 and 11 intends to build on previous learning, further enhance self-awareness, develop an understanding of the skills and knowledge employers look for when recruiting staff and prepare them for the world of work. Implementation: Students will complete dedicated Careers lessons through the PSHEE programme and these will be supported by careers learning delivered in lessons linking careers to the curriculum, visiting speakers and co-curricular activities, including Mock Interview Day and Work Experience. Impact: Students will be more aware of their own skills, how they link to future careers in the modern labour market, and will feel confident in choosing their GCSE options, applying for jobs and entering the world of work. Year 10 Delivery PSHEE Lessons x 3 (25-30 minutes per session) First half of Trinity Term (after Mock Exams)

Content 1 – Recruitment & Selection Introduction to recruitment and selection techniques and Mock Interview Day.

2 – Personality Quiz Students use the Unifrog personality quiz to discover their personality type.

3 – Careers of Interest Students will research careers related to their personality profile and identify a job they would like to “apply for”.

4 – CV Writing Students write a CV tailored to the position they would like to “apply for”.

5 – Cover Letter Students write their Cover Letter tailored to the position they would like to “apply for”.
