The “silly time”. by Lynn Arseneau
I’ve been a Realtor for 34 years. People frequently ask for my advice and opinions, and by sharing those questions and answers with you, I hope to offer some helpful information.
During this “silly time” as my granddaughter calls it, so much has happened. As a Realtor I can say that the real estate market has definitely had its share of affects. Many people have chosen to postpone buying and selling. Video tours are replacing showings, electronic paperwork and signatures are replacing sitting with buyers and sellers over a cup of coffee to review and sign. Most real estate offices are closed for now and some of our training and meetings are through tools like Zoom. Stores and business are closed, weddings postponed, travel halted and so much more.
Isn’t it somethin’ that so many people are taking walks? We’re meeting neighbors we’ve never met! Isn’t it somethin’, churches can offer their messages on line and in the parking lots? Isn’t it somethin’ my granddaughter’s ballet lesson is being taught by using Zoom? Isn’t it somethin’ school teachers are continuing to teach on line? Dedication. Isn’t it somethin’ doctors are “treating” patients through a phone call? This list could go on and on and on and on.
BUT, Isn’t it somethin’ that people are friendlier? Kinder? More patient? Isn’t it somethin’ that local people are making masks to donate to medical personnel? Isn’t it somethin’, humor on Face Book and You Tube is created to help us laugh and feel a bit better? Isn’t it somethin’ that many of us have never eaten at home with our families as we are now? Isn’t it somethin’, puzzles and board games have been dug out, dusted off and actually played? Bananagrams and Scrabble are my favs! Isn’t it somethin’, a neighbor of mine did a professional fire breathing/eating show on his front lawn for his neighbors? (everyone stayed more than 6 feet apart!)
What I’ve noticed is that people are stepping up and stepping out to support others and help each other get through this. I see it everywhere, I’m sure you do to. There isn’t one person on the planet who’s not affected. But, isn’t it somethin’ how people band together, even though they can’t BE together, and carry on in so many different ways? Creative, optimistic, caring, strong people doing what they can do, anything they can do, to help us get through this. That’s what I see. People helping people any way they’re able. Everyone, do all you can to get us through the “Silly Time”.
