Hi Friends,

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” – WILLIAM ARTHUR WARD

This is something I am very guilty of; of not expressing my appreciation for the people and things in my life. I don’t think I am alone. It is easy to get caught up in what is missing or what is wrong. But I also know that I like to hear when someone notices something I do for them (what can I say, I am complicated).

Throughout the year, we host di erent receptions to speci cally thank our donors and volunteers for their support of the Center, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for the part they play in making the Newark Senior Center more than just a facility. There are so many little acts of kindness in the Center every day. Whether you are helping someone with their lunch tray, pointing someone toward the computer lab or showing someone how to nd their exercise class on the monitors, you are a part of making the Center a community where people feel safe and valued. Thank you.

I imagine coming here for the rst time can be a little overwhelming, it is a big building with a lot going on, but the acceptance our members show each other is a big reason people keep coming back. Even a warm smile can make a new member feel welcome and want to be a part of the NSC Community.

Thank you for being here,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE NSC STAFF

The Center will be Closed 12/24, 12/25, 12/26, 12/31 & 1/1.

Jada's Journal

The holiday season is here a time to slow down and enjoy the season of friends, family, and loved ones. It’s also a season lled with excitement, gatherings, and plenty of good food, which can make it easy to forget about taking care of ourselves in the process. This time of year, remember that staying healthy doesn’t have to mean sticking to a strict routine. It’s about nding balance moving your body when you can, getting enough rest, and being mindful of your choices. Even small things like taking a short walk, doing light stretches, or choosing smaller portions can help you feel your best while still enjoying everything the season brings. Take this month to give yourself grace and gratitude. Celebrate how far you’ve come, and don’t forget to make time for yourself. A healthy body and a peaceful mind are some of the best gifts you can carry with you into the new year.

This gentle, low impact, full body workout is super effective and will have you feeling wonderful on all levels...mind, body, and spirit. This Yogalates class blends the careful focus of Pilates exercises for long lean muscles and core strength with Yoga poses which strengthen and tone muscles, increase muscle flexibility and range of motion about the joints, improve balance, stimulate circulation, aid in detoxifying the body, improve mood, destress and boost relaxation, improve spine health, and so much more! Join us and feel great! (The exercise intensity and difficulty are adaptable to each individual, with standing modifications provided for those who prefer them to Pilates floor work.)
