Our academic model is simple: Learn to master technology in a project-based environment. FRESHMAN Q1-Q3 WELCOME TO NEUMONT Start with a week-long orientation designed to prepare you for success. This orientation includes tech-focused activities created to acclimate you to Neumont’s accelerated pace and help you get to know your classmates. CAPSTONE PROJECT Finish up with your Capstone Project–a required individual project that you conceive, build, and present. OVERSTOCK PROJECT:
At Neumont College of Computer Science, we’re all about hands-on learning through project-based courses where students and faculty collaborate with local and national companies to create solutions for their software needs.
INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION Overstock challenged Neumont students to update their website. The Enterprise Project required the students to integrate recently acquired international online retailers into its existing Overstock brand, website, and data structure. This included testing, debugging, and automation. Students worked primarily in Java, Linux, HTML, and CSS to create a streamlined and fully integrated database and website for the online retailer.
Yes, a company like Dell EMC may use Neumont student projects in their day-to-day operations, which sounds pretty good in a job interview. Trust us. Enterprise Projects are the proving ground where you’ll implement everything you’ve learned and build a portfolio packed with projects for real companies. In addition, these companies sponsor projects throughout the year, help develop our curriculum, and attend Career Services events every quarter.

TOUCHSCREEN MAP Neumont dreamed up an interactive alumni map and hand-picked two all-star students to bring our vision to life. The map allows users to see where Neumont alumni are currently working, who hired them, and their home states. Using Indeed, a search engine for job listings, users can also search for open positions across the United States. The students (now alumni) created this 86” multi-touch panel using Angular 7 for the front-end, C# with ASP.NET Core for framework, and SQL as the back-end database.

REACT GAMES PROJECT:
SUPER DUNGEON BROS Students helped develop the video game Super Dungeon Bros. It’s a cross platform, rock themed, co-op dungeon brawler with a band of mighty rock bros who navigate the medieval fantasy realm of Rökheim. Working with Visual Studio, Unity, Ruby, C#, and Java (to name a few technologies), they developed back-end systems for gameplay, created levels, and implemented new features. The team worked together on the project helping each other along as they were mentored by the React developers.

Neumont students worked with our local NBA team, the Utah Jazz, to create a three-point shooting game. This multi-platform game was made by students in the BSGD program using Unity and C#. Players are able to choose from multiple characters, dodge obstacles, make baskets, and work towards achievements.
