FROM THE COACH And that starts today! We are finally back on our home court at RAC Arena, and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s a big game today against the Collingwood Magpies, who are in flying form right now. I’d like to welcome their Coach, Nicole Richardson and Co-Captains, Geva Mentor and Ash Brazill back to Perth. We look forward to a great contest.

Head Coach WEST COAST FEVER Where has the time gone? I can’t believe we are at the halfway mark of the season. Time is just flying by. But here we are, ready for Round 8. Before the season started, we knew how difficult and demanding the first half of the season was going to be. Five away trips in our first seven matches, plus the unpredictable nature of Covid always lurking in the background, we knew how important it was going to be, to bank some early wins and manage our squad the best we could. So, to be on top of the table with five wins and two losses, 12 players having taken to the court, including two debutants (Rudi in Rd 1 & Zoe in Rd 6) and lots of combinations tested, we find ourselves in a great position. This competition is tough. Every team is capable of victory on their day. You need to show up every week and perform. For us, we know our best is yet to come so we need to step up a level now. That’s what we are building towards and focused on from this point forward.
But it’s not just about the netball today, it’s also Mother’s Day! So, to all the special Mums out there cheering us on, Happy Mother’s Day to you! All our ‘Mums’ have played such a significant role in our netball journeys, and we can’t thank them enough for all they have done for us over the years. I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today without my Mum, Helen. She was the reason I started playing netball and she’s always been my biggest supporter. So, thanks Hells Bells, I know how proud you are and how much you love my Fever team! A special mention to our teams very own super mum, Jhaniele. Every year, Jhaniele makes some unimaginable sacrifices to represent our club. Family is always in her thoughts, and they are her reason ‘why’. I’m sure her young daughter is very proud of her amazing Mum. Because we sure are. What an inspirational woman! Happy Mother’s Day to you, J! THE SITUATION
This Mother’s Day match-up promises to be a blockbuster, with Fever sitting in top spot on the ladder at the midway point of the season, while the Magpies are coming off a sensational win over the second-placed Melbourne Vixens.

West Coast Fever Goal Shooter Jhaniele Fowler is at the top of her game with 394 goals so far this season, while her Magpies counterpart Shimona Nelson has 307 goals to her name.
In one of the upsets of the season, Collingwood defeated the Vixens 70-60 after starting last week in bottom place on the ladder.
Fowler will be up against experienced Goal Keeper and Magpies captain Geva Mentor, while Fever skipper Courtney Bruce will receive the job of stopping Nelson.
Led by wing attack Kelsey Browne and centre Molly Jovic, Collingwood were on song from the outset, with their win seeing them move into fifth place
The outcome of these match-ups are expected to have a big impact on the final result of the game.

My mum, Marilyn, is my everything!! She is always there to support me in the roller-coaster of life. Growing up she was my inspiration. Pure determination to better her life as well as mine. My mum has been a member with me for quite a few years. This Mother’s Day she is not attending the game as she is spending it with her mum who recently turned 100 years old.
